“We found this place by accident, walking by and saw all the cases of soft drinks. They have a great selection of pop from the US. As someone else mentioned they don't have signs with prices. However the employees were very friendly and scanned the drinks I was interested. Although the drinks are much more expensive than local soft drinks they are about the same price as other specialty shops in the area. One variety was over three times the cost of a regular local Coke. But you are paying for variety.
Having never been here before I don't know if they always have a good variety. For now, being addicted to a couple of flavours,I will be a regular customer. They also had a decent selection of chocolate bars. I didn't pay attention to the meat area but there were many options.”

“A Wonderful Experience at Duruma Japanese market
I recently visited Duruma Japanese market, and I was incredibly impressed by the quality and variety of products they offer. From fresh produce and authentic Japanese snacks to specialty items like Japanese Onigirai they had everything I was looking for. The store is clean, well-organized, and has a welcoming atmosphere.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They were quick to answer my questions and even gave me great recommendations on some lesser-known products. I really appreciated the attention to detail in stocking unique and hard-to-find items that cater to authentic Japanese cuisine.
Overall Duruma Japanese market is my go-to spot for all things Japanese! Highly recommend this store to anyone who enjoys Japanese food or is looking to explore new and delicious ingredients.”

“I’ve been shopping here since I moved to Chinatown during the pandemic. I love that they carry local brands some from other places, and there’s a wide variety of items, and price ranges for everyone. Their clearance section always has great products and they reduce the prices well. I also love that I can purchase a donut at the counter. Everything is vegan so you don’t have to think twice. “Most staff are nice, but one who appears to be the manager/owner seems stingy and wanting to lecture people about how they don't make much money or lose money on milk and so they can't give me points on buying milk. Brought up cheese and yogurt that was expired and she acted like it was my fault.
Prices are expected as it is nice and convenient, and there are interesting and unique products. However they seem to have an inventory problem and have too much of some stuff that doesn't sell well, and often have some random discounted/clearance items.”

And let’s talk about the food—Thursday and Friday beef brisket is an absolute must. Hands down some of the best brisket in the Lower Mainland. Flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection every single time. It’s something I actually look forward to during the week.

“They have everything from snacks you wouldn't normally find in other Japanese specialty stores as well as specific ingredients for cooking and baking. The Shop over was very helpful and kind in helping me find what I was looking for, and is able able to speak and understand both Japanese and English which was very helpful for items I am not able to describe in English. This is now my regular go to store for Japanese items and nececcities. They even have hot food as well which is so wonderful, it reminded me of being back in Japan <3 thank you”

“Passionate vegetarian market owners. Half the selection is Ⓥ. Discovered Happy Veggie world from their Plant Curious deal and go regularly now. 80% of the stock is frozen. They have HUGE bulk supply of everything - like a Chinese vegetarian restaurant supply or Costco for vegetarians. You can get frozen Ⓥ ramens for half the price the same Product is sold for at Vegan Supply or Choices in Vancouver. I am a huge fan of the vegan frozen ramen, frozen poached eggs, frozen bacon, frozen shrimp, frozen wontons, frozen rice cakes with bean, sesame toona paste and frozen tempeh, frozen dumplings, frozen king pao chicken, frozen Dayia cheesecakes. Everything is so affordable - like half price compared to resellers. Def check labels and ask Una to help if they aren’t translated from Chinese. Some items are vegetarian and some do contain MSG. “I love bringing my packages here. The staff are some of the friendliest folks and they are always attentive and looking to help. I sometimes have many and some really heavy packages and the owners will often help pass the packages in or offload it with me. Can't think of any other place that shows that kind of care. Even when there store gets quite full, they'll do their best to make room and accomodate your packages. Thanks ACME grocery!”
