“I love this place! I first discovered it a couple of years ago when I needed good running shoes, and I’ve been going back ever since. This year, I even took both of my kids to the store. The staff is knowledgeable and sweet. They really know their stuff and do it well.Before you’re measured, they ask you to walk normally to assess your gait. Then, they measure your feet and offer a selection of three different brands to choose from. If you have a preference for a specific brand, you can discuss it with the store rep.I like to ask a lot of questions about running shoes, and I always get great answers. There’s never any pressure to buy the most expensive shoes or anything like that. I highly recommend this store to all runners. It’s a great experience every time!”
“Great experience buying shoes for me and my wife today. I am unsure of the young ladies name but she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable getting us set up with the right shoes. I was looking for good quality walking shoes and within two mins she looked at my worn out shoes and brought pairs out to try on that were very comfortable and fit. She was able to see and size me almost perfectly. They had a good selection and had extra wide in stock. Our two kids were running around and the staff were very patient and kind. It was an excellent experience and I highly recommend people check it out.”
“I visited Born To Run in October 2024, after a coworker recommended I check out the store while I was looking for a new pair of running shoes. With Hilary’s (and her sweet dog’s!) help, I bought a pair of Saucony Triumphs. Now that I’ve put some mileage on them over the past months, I’m ready to leave a review.
Having just started running in March 2024 and moving to Philadelphia from out of state in August 2024, it’s safe to say that I had absolutely no idea what I was looking for in a new pair of running shoes. My visit to Hilary’s store was my first time buying a pair of running shoes—before that, I’d just been using my all-around walking shoes. Hilary was generous enough to share her time, knowledge, and expertise with me. First, she had me do a running test to figure out where my feet were striking the ground. Then, she gathered an assortment of many shoes, and guided me through trying them on. She even educated me about shoe sizing—and I learned that I’d be better off wearing a half size smaller than I was previously used to. I landed on a pair of Saucony Triumphs. Throughout the process, Hilary was friendly and kind. When she learned I’d just moved to Philadelphia from out of state, she even recommended some local running groups I could get involved with to help me find a sense of community with other runners in the area.
Months later, after having run in the Saucony Triumphs for a while, I’m quite happy with my purchase. The shoes took a while to break in, but once broken in, they transitioned into a smooth ride. I’ve been especially pleased with Hilary’s recommendation to go a half size down from what I’d normally wear. I’ve never been known for my athleticism—I’m pretty clumsy and can tend to wobble a bit while running. I’ve found, though, that the half size smaller shoes hold a bit tighter to my foot—while still giving them enough space to breathe—and helps to stabilize me while I’m running. That was quite the pleasant surprise!
All around, I was thoroughly happy with my experience working with Hilary at Born To Run. While I’ve since moved back to the state I originally moved to Philadelphia from, I would support Born To Run again in a heartbeat if I still lived in the area. Keep up the great work, Hilary—you helped this new runner find his way about the trail, and that’s much appreciated!”

She had great knowledge about the products in store and brought out so many different styles and sizes for my sister to try on so that she could find the best one. Did not catch the manager on duty’s name unfortunately, but shoutout to her as well for going out of her way to check drawers and the back for a pair of shorts I was interested in and then reminded me that I can get free shipping by ordering in store! “I purchased two sets of hotronic heated socks from the warming store on Jan 7 for my trip to Canada on Jan 12. I put a note in my order asking them to ship asap because I need these before the 12th for my trip to lake Louise ( it was going to be -40 degrees there! ) The store was so nice they shipped my package the same day in separate packages to make sure I'd receive it on time. 100% recommended !”

“I haven't played badminton for a few years and decided to check out this place. I'm impressed by how large the space is. I came on a Friday night and not all the courts were filled up, plenty of space. There were even a few tables for ping pong, plus a weight room. The only thing I found inconvenient is that some courts on the edge are against the wall, so you need to be careful not to hit your racket against it. The cost was $15 for an open play session and I got in a few random doubles games as an individual. The players were nice and I'd cone back again.”

Was a little kid 45 years ago and my daddy, Ron Watt of the Bike Works motorcycle shop (Ron Watt passed away last February and the Bike Works at 25 Easton Rd. has been closed for some time now) bought me a Schwinn BMX bike. Great memories and passed the bicycle shop to and from the Bike Works every day for decades. Suzanne, Ron's wife, also passed away over a year ago.”
