“Fairmount Hardware is a neighborhood institution, with good reason. Dave, the owner, goes out of his way to help non-professionals with their projects, large and small. He wired a lamp for me, he also cut glass to put in a frame I had, saving me the expense of having a framer do it.
I think he tries to impart to the young people he hires to work in the hardware store as much of his wisdom as possible. Yesterday, he instructed a young trainee as to how to remove a bit of rust on a porcelain plaque I brought in.
Today, another trainee made a great suggestion as to how I might attach the plaque to a Target basket with wingbolt nuts and butterfly screws, rather than the furniture nails I’d bought the day before.
The clerk at the cash register gave me a credit for the unused furniture nails I had bought the day before and deducted the cost of the two wingbolt nut and screws —you cannot get better service than that anywhere.

“Nothing special. It’s a store like any other. The best thing about this place is that the prices are decent. Went to Lowes to get a shovel. Cheapest was well over $20. Came here, got an even better shovel than anything they offered at Lowes for $16 and change. Can’t beat that! Love Harbor Freight.
The 5 ⭐️ rating refers to the pricing and decent selection of tools. It’s not a Home Depot where I like to wander the aisles but nowadays, I wander the aisles of HD and Lowe’s then go to HF and find the equivalent thing cheaper.”
“Worked with Christy and Mike, both exceptionally helpful. Had to apologize to Christie several times for changing our minds and bringing several pieces to check out. She took it all in stride, and even though what we ended up, with wasn't her style, she gave us advice on how to enhance what we picked out by using different grouts and colors. “Great place! They make key copies for only $1.99 and also fix phone screens. I got my screen fixed here, and the price was much lower than other places like Home Depot. They sell drills that come as complete sets with all the bits included for a really cheap price. They also mix paint, which is very convenient. Highly recommended!”
