“Perfect date night!!!! Went to a class where my girlfriend & I both made our own pint glasses & had some delicious beer from 2 Frays. I dont know if it's the beer, or the super fun and unique experience, but we had greatest time! *also shoutout to instructor Leo, couldn't have asked for a better guide through it!”

“Despite the bright panels on the outside, Irma Freeman Center for the Imagination is in many ways a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of place. Even after having been past it on foot several times, I often had fairly little idea what it was. My first impression was that it might be a community center for disabled or destitute youths, and therefore somewhere that serves a valuable cultural function but in which I have no place. I was very incorrect in this assumption, as I found out later. One day, while the doors were open, I walked in. I was treated to a private, minimalistic indie gallery featuring work by local artists. At the time, the exhibit focused principally on abandoned sites in the Pittsburgh area, with photographs giving an eerie portrait of the region's history. It was as though the photographers were archaeologists documenting recent times that have fallen into obscurity and ruin. This is of course not the only exhibit: Irma Freeman's collections, ever changing, deal with a number of different artists and themes. Gift shop at the front door and opening night receptions every First Friday of the month. Strongly recommend!”

“Once you’ve finished your visit at the Warhol, or the latest exhibition at the incredible Carnegie Museum of Art, your art journey is not complete without a stop at ZYNKA Gallery. Curator and gallerist Jeffrey Jarzynka is a contemporary art treasure, and he represents some of the best artists you will find on the east coast. Jeff welcomes everyone – from the curious to the serious – with an eye for art that is simply unmatched in Pittsburgh, in New York, in Los Angeles and Chicago and Miami. Jeff’s enthusiasm is contagious, his knowledge is boundless, and his experience is masterful. And whether you are looking to add to or build a collection, or you are just trying to learn about what makes great art great, the single best investment of your time you can make is connecting with Jeff and his gallery ZYNKA to explore the art possible. I have. And now it is my art reference. If I could give six stars, I would.”

“Honestly, this was one of the best kinds of experiences best seen in person and not through a picture. Through the entire walk through, there are no dull spots. Everywhere you look has a bright, colorful creation. I'd love to come back and see new creations added in the future! I would also love to experience this at different times of day and different seasons and see how different the art reflects! Hands down a favorite place to visit.”

“Thoughtfully curated gallery in Regent Square. Their exhibitions are always beautifully hung and worth a visit each time they change. Make sure to sign up for the newsletter to stay updated for their auctions and upcoming openings of new shows. Pro tip. Alison does a fantastic job with art appraisals and they even have a frame shop in house! Hands down my favorite gallery in Pittsburgh.”

“A beautifully morbid collection of items. There's high priced items for collectors, smaller items for gifts or souvenirs, and an interesting display of things not for sale. As an out of state visitor, it was worth the time to visit. I hope to come back one day!”

“I love small art places. No complaints here. Well done small gallery with high quality retail space and add in an activity - yes, please. Wish I lived closer, so I could take a class. Or visit late afternoon and walk next door to Hopfarm Brewery. Now there's a winning pair!”

“I stopped in randomly making my way through The Strip District a few months ago. After looking at his work, I felt I had found the right person to make the urn for my father's remains. My father died 7 years ago, so you can imagine I've been looking for a while. He was kind and respectful, and our whole encounter, he was honest about what he could and couldn't do.He reached out when it was completed, but I was in the middle of a bunch of different crises. He held it for over a month, waiting for me to be able to get there without ever pressuring me. I finally picked it up today. It is exactly what I wanted simple but one of a kind.”

“Excellent experience with Nicole @ BoxHeart Gallery! We ordered a painting to be shipped to NC. Her communication was excellent (and friendly). We received our painting quickly and it was well-packaged, and we couldn't be happier with the entire experience.”

“This is such a welcoming, accessible and clean space. The community is fortunate enough to have amazing art brought right into the neighborhood but also a space that can be used for other needs. It is also a business that actively participates in community events, helps plan events + supports the local businesses.I have attended a number of events - CPR Training, solo exhibits, themed multi-artist events, fundraisers and events that are part of the larger community/neighborhood (Open Streets, Fall events, etc.)It is easy to flow though the space and see the art. There was a ton of thought put into how to showcase the art on the walls so it is visually appealing. You can tell equal thought was taken to make the space accessible (a ramp to get into the building, bathrooms, etc.).Ketchup City, owner Nanci, does a great job of having a variety of artists with differing styles, mediums and price points which makes anyone feel welcome and able to enjoy the art. You can often have the opportunity to hear directly from the artist about their process & pieces. The quality of art matches any local museum without any feeling of pretentiousness or like you might not belong.Ketchup City also does a great job at communicating what events are happening, but even if you are just walking by I know you will feel welcomed if you just pop in.”

“10/10 spot! The owner, Jason, has such positive vibes and Mike, who’s tattooed me for 7 years, is a great addition to the shop. He always knocks it out of the park and brings his own dope style to an already dope place. So happy this place is open again and will definitely be a regular stop for me!”
