We also felt the added pressure of creating a memorable experience for a large group of guests traveling from the Washington, D.C. area. What truly set the Art Room apart, however, was its phenomenal staff. From the planning stages through the wedding day itself, Kirsten, Ryleigh, and Amanda guided and supported us every step of the way. The wedding day was flawlessly executed and completely stress-free. The team’s professionalism and attention to detail created a beautiful and memorable experience for everyone involved. “Highly recommend wearing sneakers and sunscreen on this tour. Our tour guide was excellent! He was a former employee from the 70s and hearing his first hand account of what it was like working there added depth to the tour. Keep in mind when you go they are currently renovating areas so you may not be inside the facility a lot. A gentleman on my tour had been there 7 times and he said every tour has been different.”

“One of the best decision that we made for our wedding was choosing The Mayernik as our venue! The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and takes minimal decor which is a huge bonus! The communication is great and it was easy to reach the coordinators! We initially toured and booked with Debbie, and following Linda took over and organized the remaining details and was the day of wedding coordinator! They were both amazing! Linda is wonderful at what she does and made the process easy and seamless. They are certainly a well oiled machine and made the planning and execution perfect. “Despite the bright panels on the outside, Irma Freeman Center for the Imagination is in many ways a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of place. Even after having been past it on foot several times, I often had fairly little idea what it was. My first impression was that it might be a community center for disabled or destitute youths, and therefore somewhere that serves a valuable cultural function but in which I have no place. I was very incorrect in this assumption, as I found out later. One day, while the doors were open, I walked in. I was treated to a private, minimalistic indie gallery featuring work by local artists. At the time, the exhibit focused principally on abandoned sites in the Pittsburgh area, with photographs giving an eerie portrait of the region's history. It was as though the photographers were archaeologists documenting recent times that have fallen into obscurity and ruin. This is of course not the only exhibit: Irma Freeman's collections, ever changing, deal with a number of different artists and themes. Gift shop at the front door and opening night receptions every First Friday of the month. Strongly recommend!”

“My family and I love attending the Song Shop. We are so lucky to have such talented performers and the ability to see their art from past and upcoming performances for free. It’s also great that they have some familiar operas and some more obscure ones. It was also fun to see them do a selection from Westside Story and sing in English. One of the most unique events was the 250th anniversary of America. They didn’t just play familiar tunes like Yankee Doodle Dandy. They played some songs that were unknown by immigrants. I also went to the joint performance at Arts Landing this summer. They played lots of great selections solo and together. Absolutely fantastic especially right downtown. I highly recommend anyone come to one of these free performances to get their feet wet and then go see a full opera.”

“We visited Pittsburgh for a few days to explore and visit the Warhol museum. Having never stayed at this hotel brand and seeing a few reviews about rooms being warm, I was nervous since we were visiting during a heatwave. I’m happy to report everything was perfect! -Room AC was COLD during a 90 degree heatwave. -Location- close to everything, PNC ballpark, Warhol Museum, Market Square, etc. -The beds are perfect to almost any taste- not too firm or too plush. The pillows also were perfect and I believe guests can request their pillow type between memory foam, feather down or down alternative. -Our room on the 7th floor was quiet, we only heard an occasional door shutting down the hall. -The decor and furnishings are fresh and fun. Nothing was worn or dirty in the slightest. -The entire hotel is clean and exceeded my expectations for a luxury boutique hotel. The Living Room, while very stylish, is also comfortable and welcoming. -we didn’t get to dine at the on site restaurant, The Commoner, but we did have some drinks there and the drinks and service were impeccable. -the desk staff are incredible. Professional, genuine, helpful, friendly. -our double queen room had plenty of space for 2 people, and several pieces of bulky luggage. -the bathroom and shower was great- the water pressure is soft but I didn’t mind it and appreciated a spacious, modern and clean shower. -we appreciated the dimmable lighting in the room and bathroom. Bonus points for offering robes, ironing board, and an umbrella which we found helpful as it rained plenty during our stay! If I were to ever visit Pittsburgh again, I will stay here over anywhere else!”

“We happened to be walking by around lunchtime and decided to try the fish fry. We both got fried shrimp dinners, with pierogies, coleslaw, and haluski. Everything was great and the folks there are very accommodating (since we'd never been there before and we're confused!). And they take credit cards. The fried fish sandwiches looked good too. And large.The social hall had a lot of tables set up to dine in and a bar to sit at as well.”

The facilities, restrooms, theater seats, lobby, etc., are clean and the temperature is just right. I say thus because a lot of theaters I have visited are cold. This, is a Pittsburgh treasure.”

“I went on a whim, seeing it advertised and knowing one of the artists whose work is on display. Parking is paid parallel parking on the street. I was greeted so warmly by Paul, the director, and the owner, James. Paul kindly took time out of his day to escort me around this lovely venue. He said it used to be a stable. Exposed brick and ceiling beams adorn one particular room. And the courtyard is so inviting. I did end up purchasing art by the artist I knew. Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do when a piece speaks to you.”
