“I randomly stopped in the bookshop this morning as I was walking through town and I am so glad I did. Celia's is a cozy, inviting place with a great variety of books. I loved the personalized selections written by the various staff members under their favorite books. I plan on bringing my kids next time I go. Highly recommend checking it out!”

“Very cool bookstore! We walked in from the downpour right before closing and were greeted by the nicest people. We perused the vast amount of books for a very small space; and beautiful selection of cards. Since they were closing and we didn’t have an umbrella, the owner offered us hers. She even went out to her car to get it! She went above and beyond to help us out! If we lived closer we would visit this bookstore more frequently.”

“Great selection! I love that they carry books that you don't see at corporate chains like B&N, whoever stocks those shelves knows that they're doing. I'll definitely be back.”

“Been going to this wonderful bookstore for several years and with the new addition children’s section, it is just amazing. I literally cannot wait to go back with my children so they can pick their chapter books for summer.! Beautiful selection of books and wonderful small town vibe. The staff were very friendly today, which I certainly appreciated and the gorgeous dollhouse to look at as well did not hurt! Thank you for an uplifting experience.”

“I frequently visit Barnes and Noble at Lawrence Park Shopping Center. It's a wecoming place. I am always there for books, beautiful Christmas Cards ( the only place I purchase my holiday cards), magazines, adorable stuffed animals, unusual games, and a great children's section.
The staff is always helpful finding or ordering a book for me. Clean and open. Whenever I'm at Lawrence Park, which is weekly, I wonder into Barnes and Noble.”

“Excellent knowledge of books, particulary sci-fi and fantasy. The owner works in publishing, and has a reputation for always being able to find a book you will love. One of several places in the area where you can find comic books. In this case, they specialize in independent comics and trade magazines, but you can also pre-order any series you'd like, and it'll show up the day it's released for you.”

“I’ve been buying Islamic books from this store for a while now — Alhamdullillāh — so visiting it for the first time, coming from out of state, was a really nice experience. They had such a wide range of books to choose from — mā shā’ Allāh, tabārak Allāh — and of course, you can’t leave without getting books — Alhamdullillāh.

I forgot to take pictures, but they also had a great selection of modest clothing — it was refreshing to see. There were so many pieces I wanted to get, but with all the smiles and excitement, I would’ve gone broke!

I ended up getting an overhead and an ʿabāyah — both made from very beautiful material. They were a bit on the pricey side, but the quality (at least for the ones I purchased) was genuinely nice, so I could understand the pricing. From my experience, Philly tends to be a bit pricey overall, so it aligns with what I’ve seen Islamic clothing typically go for in the city — wa Allāhu Aʿlam.

Alhamdullillāh, the owner and his wife were very kind and pleasant. May Allāh bless them, preserve their business in goodness, and make it pleasing to Him. Āmīn.”

“A treasure trove of all kinds of vintage and old books. There’s an entire of true antique books from 19th century and earlier. Notable is a collection from art and architecture books. Note the shop is closed on Sundays. There’s very little ventilation inside but it’s really not a problem when you find a book you like”

“Books Through Bars does excellent work in sending free book packages to inmates in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. They're completely volunteer-run & host volunteering sessions for people to help pick/pack books. Volunteer organizers are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend volunteering there! You can just drop in & spend 30 minutes or a few hours, whatever you like. Whenever I volunteer there, it feels like I'm really making a difference in someone's life -- because I am. It's an eye-opening experience that gives me a new perspective. Books Through Bars also takes donations (money, books they need, supplies) so there are lots of ways to support them even if you can't make it down there in person.”

“The book store at Widener University was convenient, as stealing my expensive econ books was necessary as I had no money for books. With the help of a nice girl that worked behind the counter I was able to get through and do fairly well for myself. Remember, stealing in 1989 wasn't immoral yet. Work hard guys, don't sweat every cruddy reality along the way. Some of those situations allow you to meet people, get experience doing something you'd never have dreamed of. Good luck, work hard. College is a great place to learn how to be a friend, co-worker, single, married, successful, and defeated. It has it all, dug in and get yours.

“SJU is an amazing school! As an alumni, I believe that having an even more amazing bookstore is even better. Frequently, we visit the bookstore to get outfits for my children, cute stuffies, and alumni shirts. SJU we shall see you soon!”

“We try to prioritize pre-loved/second-hand toys for our kiddo, but when going to children’s birthday parties where we know the parents would prefer new, we always pick up a gift here. We love supporting small, local businesses. They have an awesome selection and we usually have to drag our kiddo out because she wants to play with everything, ha. The store is organized very well and the employees are very warm and helpful. Lastly, they have a really cool option to purchase a gift bag for a few dollars (can’t remember the exact cost) and the full amount goes to a local animal nonprofit. We always choose that option.”

“I love this bookshop! it’s a cute and cozy place…and i’ve been making it a point to support local businesses and not relying on amazon before they run out all local bookstores and drive their book prices up. If they don’t have the book you need then you can ask them to order it for you!”

“I did enjoy my visit there very much but, I didn't make as many new friends as I would have liked to. I'm sure it was my fault, I probably was just having an off day. I'm going to visit there again and try harder to be more accommodating to everyone and show my willingness to give of myself.”

“Not only a great college bookstore, but a great independent bookstore period - it even has a curated "new release" section. A wonderful selection of (mostly) fair-trade gifts, and a superb array of cards/stationery, too!”
