“A great little bookstore with everything from textbooks for the students to Swarthmore clothing and merchandise for family and friends. Its location is incredibly convenient for not only students but for anyone passing through the Ville, whether it be by car or on the SEPTA train. Swarthmore's station is adjacent to the store. Metered parking is in front, and free parking is in the back. The store no doubt has very helpful and friendly staff. Make sure to look for sales on items in the store that you might not find online.”

“Today was my first visit to Mejah books. I found the kinds of books I was looking for right away (inspirational and romance). I had great conversation with Sakoyia and Miss Em which gave me peace and a sense of belonging. I also picked up some flavored chewing sticks as well as a huge bar of coconut soap that smells heavenly! I will definitely be back very soon.”

One of several places in the area where you can find comic books. In this case, they specialize in independent comics and trade magazines, but you can also pre-order any series you'd like, and it'll show up the day it's released for you.”
“A treasure trove of all kinds of vintage and old books. There’s an entire of true antique books from 19th century and earlier. Notable is a collection from art and architecture books. Note the shop is closed on Sundays. There’s very little ventilation inside but it’s really not a problem when you find a book you like”

“Came on a birthday splurge walked out with sooo many goodies and things I couldn’t find anywhere else. Really excellent niche and popular book selection, stickers all kinds of goodies and things. Indie authors, new releases, crime thrillers, paranormal, queer authors, YA, kids, etc. the woman at the front was a doll! She was so informative and friendly and helpful when I had my hands full of books. Got to meet an author at random and do a signing after I purchased her book, and was gifted so many neat things and bookmarks to go home with. They have blind book buys and DVDs. Thank you for making my birthday so great, can’t wait to come back here. 10/10 atmosphere, inventory, customer service, and events.”
“I’ve been buying Islamic books from this store for a while now — Alhamdullillāh — so visiting it for the first time, coming from out of state, was a really nice experience. They had such a wide range of books to choose from — mā shā’ Allāh, tabārak Allāh — and of course, you can’t leave without getting books — Alhamdullillāh.
I forgot to take pictures, but they also had a great selection of modest clothing — it was refreshing to see. There were so many pieces I wanted to get, but with all the smiles and excitement, I would’ve gone broke!
I ended up getting an overhead and an ʿabāyah — both made from very beautiful material. They were a bit on the pricey side, but the quality (at least for the ones I purchased) was genuinely nice, so I could understand the pricing. From my experience, Philly tends to be a bit pricey overall, so it aligns with what I’ve seen Islamic clothing typically go for in the city — wa Allāhu Aʿlam.

“Books Through Bars does excellent work in sending free book packages to inmates in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. They're completely volunteer-run & host volunteering sessions for people to help pick/pack books. Volunteer organizers are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend volunteering there! You can just drop in & spend 30 minutes or a few hours, whatever you like. Whenever I volunteer there, it feels like I'm really making a difference in someone's life -- because I am. It's an eye-opening experience that gives me a new perspective. Books Through Bars also takes donations (money, books they need, supplies) so there are lots of ways to support them even if you can't make it down there in person.”
“The book store at Widener University was convenient, as stealing my expensive econ books was necessary as I had no money for books. With the help of a nice girl that worked behind the counter I was able to get through and do fairly well for myself. Remember, stealing in 1989 wasn't immoral yet. Work hard guys, don't sweat every cruddy reality along the way. Some of those situations allow you to meet people, get experience doing something you'd never have dreamed of. Good luck, work hard. College is a great place to learn how to be a friend, co-worker, single, married, successful, and defeated. It has it all, dug in and get yours.

“We try to prioritize pre-loved/second-hand toys for our kiddo, but when going to children’s birthday parties where we know the parents would prefer new, we always pick up a gift here. We love supporting small, local businesses. They have an awesome selection and we usually have to drag our kiddo out because she wants to play with everything, ha. The store is organized very well and the employees are very warm and helpful. Lastly, they have a really cool option to purchase a gift bag for a few dollars (can’t remember the exact cost) and the full amount goes to a local animal nonprofit. We always choose that option.”
“Love popping in here between classes—there’s always something new, whether it’s a cozy hoodie or a fun gift for a friend. The staff are super helpful and make grabbing textbooks way less stressful. It’s got that welcoming campus vibe that makes you want to linger.”

Every employee is happy to help, even with complicated orders. Every dccc clothing item I have is comfy and durable (I love the hoodies). II'll miss this place when I graduate!”
