“Excellent shop that packs a lot of goodies into a perfect little store. Plenty of convenience items like laundry soap, snacks, books, art supplies, notebooks, Swarthmore swag and more. Helpful staff, clean and tidy. A very pleasant shopping experience.”
“Went in, haven't been here in some time. Glad I stopped in, purchased two books, had some great dialogue. The best Gem in West Philadelphia, and a Historic Landmark.”
“Delilah was super friendly and very helpful in being responsive and coordinating communication in-person information between me and Dr. Parenti as well as fax information to a third party when an insurance issue came up. Great staff at this office!”
“Lovely space. Great collection of books. Lots of authors come and speak, and the one I heard a night ago, Paul Halpern, was phenomenal. Thank you thank you for a surviving bookstore!!”
“Mejah Books has the best feng shui, atmosphere, interior design than any book store I've been to - by far! A direct correlation to the vibes of the owner Ms. Em and her staff!Very educational and uplifting atmosphere!”
“Support your independently owned children's book store! Books range from infancy to young adults. The owner clearly loves what she does and brings in events/authors for all to enjoy.”
“I came here with my grandma because she was having trouble charging a device she brought there yearsss ago. The staff member was incredibly kind, patient and helpful. My grandma has some trouble hearing and it sometimes takes a long time to communicate. Not once did this member lose her patience or abundant humanity. It was beautiful to witness. There was no pressure to hurry along or buy anything. It was just a genuine moment of a human helping others, because that was her true nature.
It is so encouraging to see people being good to each other.
If you need a book or a journal or a nook (digital book tablet thing), go to the Barnes and Noble in Broomall.”
“Excellent knowledge of books, particulary sci-fi and fantasy. The owner works in publishing, and has a reputation for always being able to find a book you will love. One of several places in the area where you can find comic books. In this case, they specialize in independent comics and trade magazines, but you can also pre-order any series you'd like, and it'll show up the day it's released for you.”
“I’ve been buying Islamic books from this store for a while now — Alhamdullillāh — so visiting it for the first time, coming from out of state, was a really nice experience. They had such a wide range of books to choose from — mā shā’ Allāh, tabārak Allāh — and of course, you can’t leave without getting books — Alhamdullillāh.
I forgot to take pictures, but they also had a great selection of modest clothing — it was refreshing to see. There were so many pieces I wanted to get, but with all the smiles and excitement, I would’ve gone broke!
I ended up getting an overhead and an ʿabāyah — both made from very beautiful material. They were a bit on the pricey side, but the quality (at least for the ones I purchased) was genuinely nice, so I could understand the pricing. From my experience, Philly tends to be a bit pricey overall, so it aligns with what I’ve seen Islamic clothing typically go for in the city — wa Allāhu Aʿlam.
Alhamdullillāh, the owner and his wife were very kind and pleasant. May Allāh bless them, preserve their business in goodness, and make it pleasing to Him. Āmīn.”
“I love shopping for books at Moore Books! Whether browsing the diverse selection for a random pick or requesting a special order, they are awesome. Love the ambience too and nice staff!”
“Love this place. Best sci Fi selection of any independent bookstore in Philly. The definition of chaotic good in a bookstore. Also-- If you are a teacher you get an extra discount!”

“A quaint store adjacent to Silverside road that is surprisingly big. It's filled with antiques, memorabilia, records and more! It was our first time ever there but totally worth the trip.”

“Books Through Bars does excellent work in sending free book packages to inmates in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. They're completely volunteer-run & host volunteering sessions for people to help pick/pack books. Volunteer organizers are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend volunteering there! You can just drop in & spend 30 minutes or a few hours, whatever you like. Whenever I volunteer there, it feels like I'm really making a difference in someone's life -- because I am. It's an eye-opening experience that gives me a new perspective. Books Through Bars also takes donations (money, books they need, supplies) so there are lots of ways to support them even if you can't make it down there in person.”
“I love this bookshop! it’s a cute and cozy place…and i’ve been making it a point to support local businesses and not relying on amazon before they run out all local bookstores and drive their book prices up. If they don’t have the book you need then you can ask them to order it for you!”
“I love visiting this campus (I have been several times as a speaker). The amenties are excellent and their buildings are accessible. the students are great and very locked in every time I attend.”
“The place can be expensive however the customer support is great. The person that was helping went above and beyond and was constantly looking and buying the books that I need. When they couldn't get a book for me they made a note so I could show the government and I had to order it online for reimbursement. Overall I am very surprised with the support.”
“I absolutely adore this store and have been a frequent shopper since we moved to the area last year. The staff are AMAZING! They are so sweet and accommodating and hugely helpful when finding books or toys. I buys all of my kids toys here and they LOVE this store. The selection is incredible and perfectly curated to have wonderful options for everyone (especially diverse selection of POC authors!). The owner is fantastic and has saved us TWICE when my son left his lovey in her store. She knows my name and is so kind every time we go. Honestly nothing beats supporting this incredible local business. This sweet women even put his lovey in a bag with my name on it when she found it because she recognize that it was my sons. 100 stars ?”
“Really nice bookstore but aside from a couple on sale items, the prices were crazy high. My son is going to another university and there was no comparison. Staff are great. It's right next to a Univ. Starbucks.”

“I did enjoy my visit there very much but, I didn't make as many new friends as I would have liked to. I'm sure it was my fault, I probably was just having an off day. I'm going to visit there again and try harder to be more accommodating to everyone and show my willingness to give of myself.”
“Not only a great college bookstore, but a great independent bookstore period - it even has a curated "new release" section. A wonderful selection of (mostly) fair-trade gifts, and a superb array of cards/stationery, too!”
“In addition to magazines, they also sell drinks and Philadelphia souvenirs. I bought a few magazines and a smoothie. You can use Apple Pay. The clerk was a nice young woman.
There is a similar store just after exiting the United security checkpoint in Terminal D, but the lineup of magazines and other items they sell seems to be slightly different.”
“I randomly stopped in the bookshop this morning as I was walking through town and I am so glad I did. Celia's is a cozy, inviting place with a great variety of books. I loved the personalized selections written by the various staff members under their favorite books. I plan on bringing my kids next time I go. Highly recommend checking it out!”
