“This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and it was such an amazing experience! Everything was incredibly clean, the breakfast was absolutely delicious every morning, and the staff was so sweet and welcoming.
Lisa was especially helpful and gave us great recommendations and guidance around Newport since it was our first time visiting. The location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere and didn’t need to worry about driving.
We truly loved our stay and would highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Newport.”
“The Brenton was clean and in a great location to pretty much anything you wanted to do in Newport. We didn’t interact with the staff other than check in and out, so can’t comment to the level other reviewers have. Only complaint is the “valet parking” was a little silly for $40/night. The lot is so small we could see our car when we exited and waited for the attendant to pull it around.”

“Great experience at Pelham Court. We had a one bedroom condo. Living space and kitchen was so much better than a hotel. Accommodations are good quality. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nespresso machine in lobby and coffee also in room. While this place doesn’t have a “front desk”, the manager(Hunter) checked in regularly to see if we had any needs. Far than you would receive in a hotel. The location is a half a block off Thames and all the wharfs, shopping, etc. As close as it is to the action, it’s also quiet. You could easily spend 50-75% more for a view of the water and boats but we didn’t feel like we missed anything by being just off the coastline. Highly recommend for comfort, location and amenities.”

“We enjoyed our stay. This place has a charming old world ambience that is hard to get elsewhere. The location near the cliff walk is a tremendous plus. The breakfast was good quality and a big plus. The only downside was the lack of an elevator which we did not know before checking in. Carrying a suitcase 2-3 flights of stairs is not trivial for elderly people. There should be some help with this.”

Great location we walked everywhere and did not need a car. The front desk people were awesome very accommodating and friendly.
We used Taj Limo service to the airport very friendly prompt we highly recommend him.

“My wife and I were looking for a dog friendly place to stay in Newport for Labor Day weekend. After looking into several places that you could bring your dogs we called the Beech Tree Inn and Cottage. When we booked our reservations the person we spoke to was friendly and very nice. Fast forward to our arrival. When we walked in everything was comfortable and clean. We went to our room which could not have been cleaner and very comfortable. The air conditioning was on and the room was the perfect temperature. The bathroom had been updated recently and was super clean. They even left a doggie bag with treats and more for our fur babies. Breakfast was served daily in the clean, quaint dining room. There are a nice variety of breakfast options along with delicious coffee and assorted baked goods (not just continental). Since we left our dogs a few times alone in crates when we went out we opted not to have our room cleaned however when we returned there was a nice bag with fresh towels, toilet paper etc left at our door. Beech Tree Inn is just a short walk from Broadway Street, which has several great restaurants sure to fit everyone’s taste! The Inn is also a short distance from Thames Street the main shopping area in Newport. There is a huge rooftop deck for relaxing. The owners are super friendly and you can tell they want their guests to feel comfortable. If you’re planning a trip to Newport and want to bring your dog/dogs, this is the place to stay! And if you’re lucky the owner’s big sweet dog will come over to greet you!”

“We booked 6 rooms at the Marshall Slocum for a family reunion, and we absolutely loved our stay! The entire inn is immaculately clean, and the rooms are very comfortable and quiet. There was no noise at night - complete silence. White noise machines in every hallway help to maintain the peace and quiet. Breakfast is delicious, and our family group of 12 enjoyed sitting around the large dining room table or outside either on the shady deck or front porch to enjoy it. It is an easy 10 minute walk from the inn into the heart of Newport and the waterfront. Mark, the innkeeper, gave us great advice on all things Newport. He and his staff are friendly and available. It was a memorable three days in Newport, and we all plan to return to the Marshall Slocum Inn for another stay in the future. Thank you, Mark et al.!”

“We loved this place. The owner and staff are terrific and it's location is excellent. It's a short walk to almost everything including the free bus route. The breakfast was really great and they have a nice wine and cheese gathering in the afternoon. Our room was comfortable and spacious, but had little issues like a loose faucet handle. It didn't keep us from using it, but it was a little annoying. We'll definitely be back.”
“We had a lovely time a this inn. It's rare to find rooms with two beds and this was an opportunity for us to stay in an historic place. Most B&B type situations are small rooms with one bed. In addition, the staff were all lovely and the breakfast was delicious! The free parking and AMAZING location just added to the experience. Highly recommend.”

A charming hotel. We only stayed 1 night - wish it has been longer! The staff are absolutely fantastic nothing was too much trouble. The location is brilliant a short walk from the harbour and all the shops, restaurants and bars & the free bus for the Cliff Walk stops right outside. It was a bit chilly to make the most of the roof terrace but it must be lovely in the summer. The breakfast was also much more comprehensive than I expected for a continental.
All round a fabulous find and would definitely recommend and hope to come back again. Thank you Liz & Maggie for brilliant service.”
“We had an excellent stay. The staff reached out to us in the morning, and the check-in process was smooth and easy. The location is outstanding—just steps away from shops and restaurants, making it extremely convenient.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The team was professional, responsive, and happy to assist with any questions we had. We especially appreciated the early check-in at noon, well ahead of the scheduled time, which was incredibly helpful for our itinerary.
Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and would gladly stay here again.”

“Booked last minute lunch reservations a few days ago and are so happy we did. What a gorgeous view! Upon arrival we opted to sit at the bar and our bartender whose name escapes me was wonderful, we never had to wait for a thing. We had the crab dip app, my husband had the chicken cordon bleu and I had a burratta sandwich. My husband fawned over his chicken dish - ranked it as one of his favorites ever! And the salads served with the entrees - so, so good. My non-veggie loving hubbie cleaned his plate.
The only reason for the 4 stars vs. 5 is this: there was a major problem with yellow jackets everywhere - our bartender got stung while taking care of us and other staff mentioned being stung multiple times. People had to cover their food and their drinks and other folks elected to leave altogether. If someone is allergic, I'm sure they would have been very unhappy. We realized this issue within minutes of sitting down and had not yet ordered our food, and we asked the hostess if we could have our table that we had originally booked. Her response was cavalier at best saying if we didn't want to deal with the bees, we'd have to wait 45 minutes because our table was no longer available, even though we arrived 20 minutes prior to our reservation. So, we were somewhat on edge and worried about being stung. The small battery operated fans to keep them away were a great idea, but the two in our area of the bar had dead batteries. The bee problem is a health and safety issue and we found it surprising that the inn was not able to manage the issue with professional intervention.
But, all in all, a wonderful place, lovely service, great food - we look forward to visiting again. In non-bee season!”

“Did not stay here because they were full, but Ahmed the Front Desk Supervisor was very reassuring when helping me with my CNA questions and he added a note to my profile to make sure there wasn't any confusion about the "Pay Grade" of an Officer Candidate. I told somebody E-5 since that's what we are paid so my CNA says Petty Officer 2nd Class which I am not. Ahmed was very helpful in alleviating my concerns. OCS Class 01-25 LET'S GO”

“The room was more like an apartment equipped with everything we needed including two coffee makers, toaster oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, fireplace and two bathrooms. Everything was spotless. The outdoor area was landscaped with beautiful hydrangeas, plenty of lounge chairs, a raised deck with great sunset views and tables and chairs tucked away around the amazing pool.”
“The resort is on Thames St in Newport, RI. The views of the harbor are amazing. Walking Thames St and Brick Alley and the wharfs is a lot of fun. The 2 bedroom unit we had has a full kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The units a clean and well furnished. The staff was excellent, check in and checkout were easy. We will be back!”
“Don't let the outside fool you. This is the building with the suites and they are very nice and comfortable. 2 tvs, 2 acs. Couch and desk/office chair and 2person table and chairs.
A shower, not a tub, which is the 1 problem, the shower curtain needs to be weighted. The 2 magnets in it have nothing to stick to. It's fiber glass... so more water out than in at times.
Speedy elevator, carts and stairs as an option. Only 1 washer and dryer in the laundry, but this is a less occupied building.
No parking close, so be prepared to walk.

“Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. In my case, the value was exceptional - central location, free parking, plenty of character, all at an excellent price.
While some may find age and quirkiness of the inn somewhat charming and endearing, others may see it as odd, cramped and simply old. Please keep in mind that it's an old Victorian home converted to an inn/hotel. There is no elevator, steps/floors are a bit creaky, air conditioners a little noisy, etc...the usual things for a house over a century old.
I enjoyed my stay and the location is unbeatable at great value.”

“This stay was one of my husband and I’s favorites. We were in Newport for a wedding and I wish we were able to enjoy the location more. The room was so spacious, clean, and very unique. The location is a prime spot for being in the town and close to shopping and restaurants. My favorite part about our time there was the hospitality. Brian and Lauren were absolutely fabulous inn keepers. They were there if we needed anything and it was appreciated. Since we were here for a wedding and I was in the wedding we were doing rehearsal, welcome party, wedding, and after party so we were coming in at odd hours and it was nice to be on the first floor and have a key to the door to be on our own time. I hope we are able to come back and stay again and enjoy the breakfast, the afternoon treats, the wine and cheese time, and simply the beautiful inn. We were so grateful we found this place.”
