Pet Grooming

Pet Salon
205 Clock Tower Square, PortsmouthWe're been going to the Pet Salon since 2000 with our pets and we couldn't be happier. They have groomed our cocker spaniel, keeshon and now our poms. Everyone of our pets come out looking like a show dog. Kristin, her sister and everyone who works there loves their work and the pets that come in. We highly recommend them.

Sunset Cove
706 Park Ave, PortsmouthReally charming cafe on the water in Portsmouth. My friend recommended it for our long over due catch-up on life get together. I'm so glad she did.
The cafe is super clean & you notice it immediately when you walk in, this place sparkles. You can tell the owner/employees take pride in where they work & what they do.
Its a counter service place so a little difficult to try to take it all in & try to decide while the staff is standing there waiting.. Wish they had a handheld menu that you could sitsown with & look & decide in a more relaxed mode. Don't misunderstand. The staff DOES NOT RUSH YOU , but if you are a person who is conscious about others time you feel some pressure.
My friend & I both ordered yogurt parfaits, she had bottles water & I had a yummy iced latte. We enjoyed our selections as we talked & talked catching up on almost 20 yes.
Looking forward to returning when the weather warms up to be able to enjoy the outside & the yummy selections they have to offer then. Spring has to come eventually, right?

Valley Inn Restaurant
2221 W Main Rd, PortsmouthBefore our short vacation to Aquidneck Island, I checked out the reviews for various restaurants in both Portsmouth and Middletown. Valley Inn caught my attention both for the high ratings and the fact that a small stuffed quahog (aka stuffie) was included with entrees. We found the restaurant situated in the cellar of an older house a bit creepy though we quickly settled in. Each of use chose swordfish as entree served over mashed potatoes and crispy asparagus. Also included were 2 dinner rolls, a high quality salad and aforementioned stuffie. The pieces of swordfish were almost enough to serve two and perfectly prepared.

Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience
2 Alexander Rd, PortsmouthWent here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and it did not disappoint! The website says to get there 30 minutes before the train leaves, so we got there at 6pm and the train left at 6:30pm. For a Friday night there was a decent turnout, maybe 4 tables empty out of 14 tables total in the car. The tables were very spaced out which made the experience intimate and quiet enough to have a conversation. They have tables and booths available. The inside of the train was decorated for Christmas with lights strung up and down on the windows and they had Christmas music playing over the speakers. I heard that the left side of the train is best for views- which is true, we got to see the Mount Hope Bridge all lit up. However, it doesn't matter how early you get there if you're trying to get a good seat because they predetermine your seats, which they tell you upon check-in. A couple minutes after we sat down, our waiter greeted us and took our drink order. Note that the drinks are NOT included in the initial order/price of the dinner train. They give you a separate bill for drinks at the end. The prices aren't bad, but also aren't good- it was $14-$16 for cocktails, $12-$13 for wine, and $8 for beer. The waiter also made sure our dinner selections were correct and brought out the appetizers shortly after. Also note that the appetizers are an additional add-on price when selecting what you want to eat on the website. We got two appetizers (brought out for the cocktail hour, before the train starts to move). The grazing board (charcuterie) which had three different cheese, salami, prosciutto, French bread, grapes, and olives. We also got the Caesar salad which was good too. I only ordered one Caesar salad because I thought it was going to be a big bowl but it was the size of a normal bowl for one person- so I would order 1 bowl per person next time! We were feeling extra hungry and asked if they had an extra appetizers. The website says everything has to be ordered ahead of time, but we were lucky and they had an extra shrimp cocktail that they were able to give us! A little while after the train started to move, they brought out a goat cheese puff pastry as a pre-dinner meal. I had no idea this was included in the dinner and was pleasantly surprised! I personally didn't like it but I was appreciative of it anyway. Then they brought out a lemon-sorbet as a palette cleanser which super yummy. At 7:30pm, the entrées came out and it was delicious. Despite everything being prepared on a train, the food was amazing. I got the roasted chicken with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. My boyfriend got the beef filet with some kind of potatoes (mashed but in a square?) and green beans. Both meals were perfect and would definitely recommend. At this point in the night, I did notice that we, in the front of the car, were receiving our food far ahead of the back of the car. I feel like it was maybe a good 10 minutes into eating out food where the waiters were still bringing out food for the rest of the guests in back of us. Also the train stops at it's farthest destination in the trip for the entrees. After a bit has passed for people to eat their main meals, the train starts making its way back. At 8:40pm is when the desserts came out and the train stops at the Mount Hope Bridge. We got the crème brulee and chocolate torte. Both were great in their own way and paired very well together. The crème brulee was super sweet and the chocolate torte was rich in flavor. I feel like it'd be too much to eat all at once but going back and forth between the two was bearable. After dessert is when the checks started to come out, right before the train gets back to the station. We got back around 9:20pm but you can stay on the train for longer to finish your meal, pay your tab, or just talk with your table. I think the last people to leave got off the train around 9:40pm. They have a very small gift shop you can look around in and an outdoor Adirondack seating area with a firepit to chill around as well. Overall, w

Kaffeology
8 Russo Rd, PortsmouthI love all of their products and have never had anything bad however if I had to give an honest opinion is that some of the employees definitely make a more pleasant experience than others and that also affects the quality of the product. Great establishment for sure however I just wish that all the employees were consistent but they are not but most definitely it's not terrible it's actually pretty good 90% of the time The customer experience anyways.
