The Groovy Groomers
2401 Augusta Rd, West ColumbiaI have 2 little shorkies 5-7. They absolutely love everyone and animal. Just over 4 years ago they were horribly abused,. So much so the business called us as injuries weren't noticeable. Long story short, they're vet has had to drug them in order to do nails, etc...since. Even many groomers tried over the years. My daughters dog survived her abuse also and told me to try these "dog whisperers". My daughters nic name. For the first time not only didnt they need to be drugged, my cuddle bugs loved them afterward even more. My pups are my kids, like alot of us out there. Telling you this is fantastic does do them justice. Somehow they not only did beautiful grooming, they stop the fear that tormented my pups, and my daughters. Wish i could do better then 5 stars. Cant wait for future "handsomes".. Very Sincerely, Kelly

432 Ermine Rd, West ColumbiaThe few times he's been there have been ok. His cuts always good but when you drop your pet off at 7:30 am and they are not ready for pick up till 5-5:30 is crazy. They ask if you want to pick up at a certain time but they don't tell you why

Wags to Whiskers
1301 C Ave, West ColumbiaI have a paw-sensitive greyhound, and Michelle gets down on the floor with her and dremels her nails with the patience and kindness of a saint. She's also very professional regarding scheduling and communicating, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly wants what is best for all the animals who walk through her door. Her prices are beyond fair (as in, I tip her extra because she's so worth it). Plus, she's just a downright cool person. It is a pleasure doing business with her, and I give her my highest recommendation.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Weco Bottle and Biergarten
626 Meeting St, West Columbia5 year later update: still best place to grab a cold beer. Still had the best staff. Not sure why people think it isn’t family friendly unless you just let your kids run around public spaces unattended. Been plenty of times with a nerf soccer ball to kick around with my kid away from other people enjoying their time.
One of the best places in town to grab a cold beer and hang out. Fabulous staff, wonderful selection, and fantastic owners/management. Not to mention the lineup of food trucks that stop in.
If you won’t wear a mask, or you’re a jerk, this may not be the place for you.

Savage Craft Ale Works
430 Center St, West ColumbiaSavage Craft Ale Works generously donated their premier event space for a fundraiser benefiting my daughter, and I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. From the very first conversation to the final goodbye at the end of the evening, their entire staff was incredible to work with.
The food was amazing, and the venue was absolutely perfect for our event. I worked extensively with Harrison, who was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and unbelievably helpful throughout the entire process. Since this was my first fundraiser, I had countless questions, and he answered every one with genuine care and compassion.
What stood out most was how deeply he seemed to care about making the evening special for my daughter, who is battling a devastating progressive disease. He even participated in the silent auction himself by bidding on items.
Because Savage Craft donated the venue, every dollar raised that night could go directly toward my daughter’s experimental treatment. We will never forget their generosity and kindness.

Hilton Garden Inn Columbia Airport
110 McSwain Dr, West ColumbiaStayed one night. Room was cleaned. Had dinner at the restaurant and the food was great! My only issue was that the door of my shower would not close shut so i had to put a wascloth a the bottom to keep it closed and the drain in the bathoom sink was barely opened which made the water drained very slowly. Brought this attention to the front desk which he apologized. I also asked if it would be possible to just get a couple of bagels at the restaurants since i didn't want a whole breakfast and without hesitation they accommated me. Great customer service! Thank you! Will definitely come back!

True BBQ
1237 D Ave, West ColumbiaPretty good SC-style BBQ.
There's not much to this cafe -- 4 tables, one of which was occupied by the owner when I visited.
They have a little library of religious books in the cafe. I dunno if it's a library or a store. But it was a nice touch.

PETSinc
300 Orchard Dr, West ColumbiaOur late dog was adopted as an adult, but we decided to adopt a puppy this time around. Caroline, Dajah, and Bob were tremendous help, and we brought our little peanut home in July. We took her to one of PETSinc's mobile vet sites (Lancaster, SC) a couple weeks later for her shots update and a nail trim. Taylor, Ron, and Dr. John were great! This past weekend, we noticed digestive issues with our little girl, so an appointment was scheduled at the PETSinc clinic (located at the shelter). Andy checked us in and took us to an exam room. The wait was less than 10 minutes until Skylar came in to ask the preliminary question for notes. She took the stool samples for diagnostic testing, and very shortly after, Dr. Murphy came in and did an exam, asked additional thorough questions, then went to check the lab results. Diagnosis: hookworm. Dr. Murphy suggested homecare options, then Skylar came to give our girl a dewormer dose. The vet clinic visit was thorough and timely.
We adopted our little peanut from PETSinc because we believe in their mission. We also have chosen to use their vet care services (both the mobile vet and vet clinic) because these services also support their mission. Additionally, consistency is key for developing history, so there was no question -- if we were going to adopt from PETSinc, then we would also establish our pup's medical history through their services. Thank you, PETSinc team, for not only helping us find our new peanut, but for helping take care of her as well.

Final Victory Animal Rescue
919 N Lucas St, West ColumbiaWe adopted our pup in the summer of 2024 and the entire process was wonderful. We received answers to our questions in a very timely manner and the foster family (John) was so wonderful to work with. We are in NH so the entire process was remote including “meeting” our dog. Transportation was also flawless and within a day we had our new guy out on the boat and walking the beach!
