If Home Depot ever starts charging rent, I’m in trouble, because I basically live there. It’s the store right around the corner from my house, but honestly, at this point it feels more like the corner of my personality.
The staff is always super friendly—the kind of friendly where they don’t even flinch when I walk in with that “I’m not totally sure what I’m doing, but I’m definitely doing it myself” look. They just nod like, “Ah yes, a fellow warrior of the DIY realm.”
And the inventory? They almost always have exactly what I need. Whether I’m fixing a door, rewiring something I probably shouldn’t be touching, or starting a project I’ll definitely finish… eventually… Home Depot has my back. I’m basically a jack‑of‑all‑trades, master of none, but with enough confidence to make it work—and they’ve supplied every bolt, bracket, and questionable idea along the way.
After years of projects, repairs, and “I can totally fix that” moments, this place has become my unofficial workshop. If they ever offered punch cards for frequent tool wanderers, I’d be Platinum.

And then when the tools have enough wear and tear they sell them used at pretty good deals. They also rent trucks, large ladders, you name it.”

“I recently stopped by to purchase blinds, I’ve been doing blind installation for a while. I young lady named Eryn S called someone to help. After about 5 minutes she checked to see if I was being help. No one was helping yet. She then proceeded to called her manager to help. Eryn told me that she was going to wait for her manager to teach her how to cut blinds so she could better help customers. Her manager showed up a few minutes after and proceeded to cut me he blinds. Eryn was very observant to how he cut the blinds and took over after the second blind was wrongly cut by her manager. He did not explain the procedure when cutting the blinds but her determination to learn overcome his distractions. The 5 starts are for her as a human being and as an employee. Good workers do not get recognized enough. Thank you Eryn!!”

“I've been to this home depot a few times, especially for gardening tools and buying plants and soil for my backyard. It's as any Home Depot should be, with a wide range of selection and is well maintained. However the location can make it stressful due to the construction around the entrance and the heavy traffic. I also would prefer they had a better selection of perennial plants. For instance, they only had Spanish lavender rather than the tougher, longer lasting phenomenal lavender which would be more appropriate for Austin's climate. So if you're looking for a better variety of plants I would recommend visiting a local nursery. For home improvements this Home depot does the job. Staff was for the most part very helpful except for one employee who even refused to check in the system if they had the plant I was looking for in stock. I would also recommend they carry expanded shale for the clay soil here in Austin.”

“The marble, beady eyes of the hammerhead shark plush pierced my soul. I was compelled by some force to pick it up. $4. A brief flash of logic- what are you going to do with this? Why spend your money on this child's toy? It's been 21 years since that shark bit you, let it go. Am I to let it go? The summer of hospital stays, learning to walk after weeks in the bed, the hobbling of my hops in basketball? But on the other foot, I had a fun fact about myself, and enough personal essay material from that fateful day to write dozens of different takes on the story from 2nd grade to college. No, I won't let it go. It's a part of me, even if it ripped off a part of me. I was bitten by a hammerhead, and I will own a plush of the animal now. The predatory fish is long gone by now, and some day all memory of that day will fade with me and those who know. But perhaps a great great grandchild will find the toy in an attic, ask their parents about it, hear the story. Maybe draw a picture of that kind stranger who carried me up the beach, or my sister using her shirt to staunch the bleeding. Perhaps they'd be in awe that a doctor saved my life and study medicine, or perhaps they'd vow vengeance for past wrongs and become a shark fin fisherman... Maybe the shark, too, passed a lesson down to its offspring- a taste for red meat.
Also got a nice TV stand for a good deal. 5/5.”
