Fluffy's Pet Shop
1107 Emmet St N, CharlottesvilleWe first came across Fluffys last month when we went to visit Charlottesville for a wine tour weekend. We saw this on the map and knew we had to stop in for our pup. They have beautiful accessories for your pooch and delicious treatos. We were so happy when we noticed we could order them online because our chocolate lab is obsessed with their treats. Great in person customer service and great timely shipping. Highly recommend this store for your pooch.

Crate & Marrow
2035 Bond St Unit 180, CharlottesvilleThey sell great products for your pets. The people there are genuinely concerned about your pets health and well-being and I really appreciate that. The pricing is a little higher than what you would find at say walmart, but it's just better food than what places like that sell, better for your dog or your cat or your pet.

Pawprints Boutique
201 E Main St B, CharlottesvilleI wish I could give Carrie, and her beautiful store, 100 stars. Carrie was involved in finding our lost dog. After putting up hundreds of flyers, we got a call from Carrie who put together a person who was buying a leash for a dog they found, with us, the desperately searching, heartbroken dog owners. Although a reward was offered, Carrie refused it. While we were in her store, we noticed how welcoming and well-stocked it was, and what great items she carries. It is a great place to find whatever you need for your furbabies. Thanks' to Carrie, we were able to enjoy the holidays with Teddy, instead of anguishing over what might have happened to him. Carrie is an angel. Shop in her store!

Animal Connection LLC
933 2nd St SE, CharlottesvilleCarol and her team have done a great job with grooming my chow chow, Bella. Carol met with a Pennsylvania dermatologist right when I first scheduled with Animal Connection. This vet provided Carol with advice on how to restore my dog's damaged coat (Bella was a rescue that had been shaved due to injuries). Carol has taken the time to really help my dog. Since then, my dog comes out of her appointments with beautiful grooming and as a big of a smile as a dog can muster!

Pawsville Pet Spa
1445 Rio Road East, CharlottesvilleWe’ve been taking our family dogs to Samantha for close to (over??) a decade now and she’s just the BEST for poodle cuts! We have a maltipoo (pictured), a cavapoo, and a miniature labradoodle and after not so great experiences at two spots across town, I was SO glad to find Samantha. She treats our pups with extreme care, listens well to our concerns and cut preferences, and always produces cuts that grow out well!
She preserves their length when she can (ie when I don’t wait too long to take them in and hand over matted messes to her haha). Our pups get excited to see her and are always super happy when we pick them up - which is HUGE, because they’re anxious dogs!
Samantha’s drop off/pickup times are flexible, and her prices are in line with other groomers in the area! I highly recommend her!!!

Virginia Veterinary Specialists
370 Greenbrier Dr, CharlottesvilleMy kitten broke his hip, he needed surgery and this was the only place that I could find that could do the complex procedure, I called two hours surrounding areas. The surgeon was excellent, explained everything he thought needed to be done, told me it was a long painful recovery and was kind, saying it wasn't awful if I didn't get it done (probably could tell I wasn't rich) I couldn't leave him broken so the surgery was scheduled immediately. They kept me informed the entire time. They did such a good job, I am so grateful. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they accidentally shaved the wrong leg and another reason is it was incredibly expensive. Probably not higher than another place but to me it was expensive. I took out two credit cards and my savings. If you have an emergency and can afford it, definitely trust that your animal will get great care

Old Dominion Animal Hospital Charlottesville
811 Preston Ave, CharlottesvilleDr. Garrett and staff were all very knowledgeable and helpful throughout our cat Milo's cancer diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Garrett always made time to talk over treatment ideas and explain our situation in ways that made sense. When it came time for the end, we were met with compassion and respect at every step. Everyone at old dominion made what is always a difficult decision and process go as smoothly as possible. We will miss Milo very much but it was comforting to go through this process with the competent, compassionate vets and staff.

Charlottesville Cat Care Clinic
1901 Seminole Trail, CharlottesvilleI have since moved from Charlottesville and no longer use the Cat Care Clinic, but I do find myself longing for them in my new home. When searching for the cause of my senior cats wheezing they not only found that he had inflamation in his lungs, but also knew that he would not be able to undergo treatment due to a heart murmur they discovered. They pointed me to a cat cardiologist for further care, and now, he almost seems to be getting younger and more spry with the years. I know he will not be with me forever, but I am grateful that they armed me with the knowledge I needed to provide the best care for him possible to enhance his golden years.

Pantops Veterinary Hospital
315 Winding River Ln, CharlottesvilleThis veterinary operation is not owned by a hedge fund. That is an immediate positive. Having said that, you need to have confidence in what you think you know about your dog. I understand why most dogs are neutered. My dogs are not. I do not support juvenile neuter. I think you should wait until your dog is fully grown before you make that decision. Initially at this practice I was encouraged to neuter my dog as a juvenile. I did not. I was warned that XYZ behavioral situations could occur. They did not. With my second dog I was also warned XYZ behavioral conditions could occur. I have decided to wait and see. That said, they know what they're doing with the exception of my critiques above. And they're not owned by a hedge fund. Which is a problem occurring in the veterinary clinic and animal insurance organizations.

Got a puppy in 2012 and he started going there for daycare as a young puppy and went weekly up until he sadly passed. They loved on him and took such good care of him. Was great for boarding too! Now my new pup goes there and she is so excited and has the best time every week! She has also gone for boarding and it's such a lifesaver to have a wonderful team taking great care of your dog while you are away and just to get worn out during the week!

Canine Campus
440 Westfield Rd, CharlottesvilleI take my dog June to Day Camp every Wednesday, and the fact that she is snoring beside me as I type this, is a testament to the fun she has. Before deciding on Canine Campus, I had looked at two other daycare facilities in town, both of which I walked out saying a big "NOPE", but not Canine Campus. The "Camp Divas" that run the show are intelligent, trained and experienced.I also took one of their puppy classes after we added our newest addition, Zeke, and kicked myself for not booking the others, as they had already filled up. I loved the class structure and methods.I've worked in the animal industry for 20 years from clinics to dog walking, and I'm very particular of who gets to hang with my crew, but the women at Canine Campus put my worries aside. They know what they're doing and they do it right! Junie (and I) appreciate you all so much!!

Bodo's Bagels
505 Preston Ave, CharlottesvilleStopped in because I heard this was a Charlottesville institution & got a dozen (half everything, half everything wheat) bagels & tub of the jalapeño lime cream cheese for the trip home for less than $20. Not bad at all for $1.05/bagel for dozen+. The bagels have a nice chew with great seasonings. This location looks like it was previously a McDonald's or something. I stayed in what I thought was a drive through but was actually just a line of cars parked. No worries either way, service inside was quick & friendly enough.
