“I typed up this review over a year ago and not sure if it posted so here it is: After today's experience I will be bringing all my car business to these guys. It started with a call for some information and ended up with my vehicle receiving the attention it needed in less than 24 hours. Last month I brought my Mazda to the dealer for an inspection and the dealer quoted over $1,200 in "recommended" maintenance. I wanted a 2nd opinion so I brought it to these guys. They performed an even more in-depth inspection, identified legitimate items that the dealership didn't catch, reviewed the "recommended" maintenance items from the dealership and advised that they were not necessary at this time (saved me well over $1,100). They explained their recommended items in-depth and provided pictures of everything. Service was top-notch and everyone was extremely polite, helpful and professional. Sorry I didn't catch the gentleman's name that took my initial call, but when I checked my vehicle in, I was greeted and helped by Matt. When the inspection was performed I was texted and called by Drew. Drew was very thorough and explained all the items in detail. The gentleman that checked me out was a different person, but he was also extremely polite and helpful. It was a refreshing surprise considering the state of customer service at most establishments these days. Job well done and I will definitely recommend your business. “I want to thank the brake specialist, Alexander Bly for the free brake checkup he performed on the front brakes, rotors and front brake lines that he had replaced on my 1998 Ford Escort SE on October 17, 2023. I had called Brake Squad on Monday, February 5, 2024, because I had trouble on Sunday, February 4, 2024, with my brakes becoming spongy when I tried to stop my car. Luckily, I was close enough to my house that I was able to nurse my car back to my driveway at home. I called The Brake Squad because Alexander had done such a great job on my front brakes, and I indicated that I had been driving on the beltway and when I was exiting off the beltway, my brakes seemed to become spongy when I pushed down on the brake pedal and my brake slowed me down but didn't seem to be holding very well. I told him I was able to nurse the car back to my house. Alexander checked not only the front brakes that he had repaired in October 2023, but took a look at the rear right brake drum and noticed that my 1998 Ford Escort SE was leaking brake fluid through a corroded hard right rear steel break line and indicated that he would need to check to see if he could locate the hard break line replacements to repair my car. He also indicated that he would have to check with his supervisor to see if brake squad would be able to do this repair, but indicated that it was not the type of repair he normally performed because of the precision necessary to craft the hard brake lines and indicated they may need to be custom crafted because Ford probably wouldn't still have them as a readymade part for the Escort SE. I thanked Alexander for all his help and asked if I could contact him to discuss any questions, I might have about the hard brake lines requirements that might be needed and he indicated that he would not have a problem with me calling him. I thanked him and let him know I would keep in contact. I contacted Alexander on the February 13, 2024, to review the hard brake line components that the Ford Approved Auto Service Shop had indicated would be necessary to complete the repair on my 1998 Ford Escort SE, and he provided me with some questions I should ask, and the answers I should receive, from the Ford Approved Auto Service Shop steward. This information was very helpful and provided me with the ability and the confidence to have my 1998 Ford Escort SE's Hard Rear Brake Lines repaired. As of February 14, 2024, my 1998 Ford Escort SE is up and running like a top again. “I have to admit I live really close to AK Auto, but never took my car here (despite recommendations from 2 friends) because I always thought I could trust the dealership. Boy was I wrong!After my car started revving without accelerating at about 2000 RPMs, I knew there was something wrong and drove the car over the dealership. They told me I needed a remanufactured transmission, which they would be happy to put in for $8200. This didn't sound right to me since my car had only 75,000 miles on it and I always did all recommended maintenance on my car when I was supposed to, so I decided to get a second opinion.I had my car towed to AK Auto and asked Mr. Kim to take a look at it. He added transmission fluid to the car (at his own expense) to see if it would make a difference and it started running more smoothly so he knew that the problem was not the transmission was not the problem. He recommended that I get a transmission flush. I was hesitant since it was so different from the advice that the dealership gave me (I'd just gotten a transmission exchange at the dealership 4,000 miles ago, plus they said the transmission flush would make the problem worse). But I reluctantly agreed. The transmission flush made all the difference, and now the car runs like butter! From now on, I'll be taking my car to AK Auto!”

My apartment needs a parking sticker for the garage so he was nice enough to even transfer that over to the rental temporarily. “I took my car to this place upon my friend’s recommendation. My car’s windshield washer fluid reservoir was broken & had to be replaced. Upon inspection, they found out that my radiator was leaking. Quoted price was a lot lower than the other repair shops that I called. They even cleaned everything under my hood. One would think that I have a brand new car. “After several months of driving all over to different dealers in search of a Tacoma was difficult (Too much rust and their asking price). Through a search they had an ‘07 just listed, so I called and asked if they could send pics from underneath before I decided to make the drive and they did. I was amazed at how clean it was for being almost 17 years old! They were very helpful and not pushy whatsoever. Being it had a VA inspection, they took it and had it MD inspected for me. I’m very happy with the truck. Outstanding dealership!”

“Jose is a straight shooter and seems like a very honest man. I took my Porsche in for what seemed to be a transmission issue and Jose took it for a spin and immediately (and correctly) diagnosed it as a transfer case issue. He even quoted a manufacturer warranty extension on my year from memory, then recommended I call the dealer to see if it was still under warranty vice having him do the work. It was out of warranty so he started by changing the transfer case fluid, which fixed the slipping.Great, honest service. I will definitely be coming back here for work on my Porsche!”

“Julio Montenegro was rude and condescending from the beginning of me entering the service area. The way he spoke to me and the way he spoke to a colleague of his was the worst I have experienced and witnessed in the several years that I have been having my car serviced here. It made me question if this establishment is deserving of my time & money.Update: Eli had called me to discuss how to remedy my poor experience, We discussed a free oil change the next time I came there. When i was speaking to Mohamed, he said it was never indicated on my account. Mohamed still helped me out with as much as he could.I came back recently for service, but had to come back for a hose to be replaced. Mohamed again helped me out with getting a new undercarriage cover installed. “I've been coming here since I moved to Fairfax City in 2000. I think at some point it was high tech Auto, but the only relevant time has been while James has run the show. He's just fantastic. He's paused on expensive work to show me exactly what's wrong, compared part prices, sent me pictures and part details if I wanted to look for the part... Just amazing. One time I was in a real pinch going on a winter trip and my washer fluid spouts were broken. He was SLAMMED busy, but told me where to get the parts and assembled everything as soon as I got back, saving our trip. He helped me pick good cars and told me when to punch out on bad ones.
