“My friend and I brought a cat that had been abandoned, distressed, and not claimed by anyone in the neighborhood. We had such a pleasant experience with the staff and knew she would be in good care to find her forever home. When we have found other abandoned animals, we have not had the same experience in other jurisdiction with shelters so it’s great to see that the city is committed to taking care of abandoned animals.”
“I'm giving this place 5 stars because I love the concept and want to encourage this business and others like it to continue to grow and improve. However, both times I've been to this store the staff has been...less than friendly. Especially the second time I went.I had a small bag of donations (slider closures, thread, seed beads, jewelry wire, fabric tape) in fact I put them in the $10 bag I'd bought on my first visit. I found a staff member and tried to give them the donations, but they rather rudely told me donations were by appointment only and just turned away from me.I'm not saying they should have taken the donations if that's not their policy, but since a by-appointment-only donation system is not at all the norm for thrift shops in this area, or in general, I don't think a quick explanation of the donation system and how to schedule an appointment was too much to ask. Especially since you not only have to make appointments but they also have very specific rules about what can be donated, including the size of donation boxes and bags. I ended up taking the donations to the Fort Belvoir Thrift Shop which also has a cute crafts section, if anyone is interested. Please work on developing better customer service skills, and make it easier for folks to donate to this place. There are too many much more convenient options of places to donate to for y'all to have such a restrictive donation policy. We want to support this business. Please make it easier for people to donate to your shop. Best wishes!”
“A destination playground! A huge variety of equipment, partially fenced, decent shade in some portions. The sandbox is a hit and big kids love the massive rope course and slide structure.
The community center across the parking lot has public restrooms during business hours.
Free parking lot, though it's often full, with free street parking surrounding the park as well.
Pavilion often has parties happening under it on the weekend. Sundays are CRAZY during farmer's market season.”
“The church is beautiful and enjoyed a lot of the traditional elements of the mass (the smells and bells) that I had been missing from our usual church. Father Bresnahan gave a great homily. He seems affable with a good sense of humor. I would consider making this our go to parish.”
“Incredibly impressive place. Gave museum a separate review. The complex is beautiful a truly wonderful reuse of a prison. The cute art studios and exhibits are an amazing public service, bravo to those that championed this. Young ladies in visitor's center couldn't have been nicer, including having to listen to be drone on about meeting Ms. Hirshhorn and having lunch with Steve Ivy :) Though I am nominally living in Texas, going to suggest visiting here to my local sister and friends interest in art. Cute place, including the nice brewery, who had to listen to me drone on about Harpoon and Dan. Not sure I will ever be back, but local folks should make sure they check this place out!”
“Cute place with food coffee and food! I absolutely love their mission and community outreach. Please support local businesses with purpose like this great establishment!”

“I have received the best services at this facility starting from the emergency financial assistance department down to the food distribution department. All the people that work at this facility are very helpful, kind and very considerate. All the people that work at this facility also walk that extra mile to give you all the help that you need at the time. Thanks for all that you do for me! God bless!”
“I converted to Christianity about 6 months ago. The Journey in Nova has been a wonderful church in every way!
First, Pastor Joel was incredibly dedicated and helpful in helping me get baptized.
Second, Gary and the rest of the band are awesome.
Third, Pastor Chad and Pastor Joel both give great sermons.
Finally, the rest of the staff (shout out to Emily and Clay!) and the people there in general (attendees, volunteers, everyone) are incredibly kind, helpful, and a great community to be a part of.”
“You'll have to leave security and re-enter to get there but the workers are very nice. It's not a top end USO like Dallas or Chicago but its relaxing for a layover.”
“I was at the Conrad Hotel in DC for a wedding last month..in my room was the Cinnamon-Pecan Granola..I ate that bag in the hotel and I am now hooked!! When I returned home (NC) I went online and purchased 2 large bags of them!! DELICIOUS!!! SCRUMPTIOUS!! Will for sure be ordering MORE!! THANK YOU!!”
“The associates at this store have gone above and beyond for me. I lost my wallet at the store and they helped me look and took my name/number. I was assuming all hope was lost but the next day they called and found my wallet! I’m so grateful for all the associates here who put so much care into their job and customers.
On a store note, it’s a great selection and feels cheaper than other Goodwills in the DMV area I’ve been to. I found two great pairs of jeans — one 100% cotton which is hard to come by these days — and a few dishes.”

“Founded and run by God-fearing, honest Muslims who have truly dedicated their lives to helping the most needy in practically every part of the globe. The one charity I have had no hesitation donating to for the last decade. May Allah elevate, preserve and magnify their work and its impact, as well their reward.”
“A great place to learn about Native American culture and American history. Great views of the Potomac River from the fishing pier and historic farm/living buildings. Visitor center was very nice and there were many short hikes through the historic buildings and the river.”
“I am so impressed with Volunteer Alexandria’s programs. Snow Buddies—where they help senior citizens during snowstorms—is truly one of the loveliest initiatives in our community.
We’ve participated in multiple pop-ups with Volunteer ALX, and every experience has been seamless. Their communication is top-notch, their staff is incredible, and the volunteers who help load us in and out are always so kind and helpful.
Alexandria is lucky to have such a wonderful organization serving our community.”
“During the worst of covid they provided food every other weekend almost. Now it's just once a month but each time we get chicken eggs bread fresh vegetables (this time it was a huge bag of onions and 10 lb of carrots) along with rice, beans, pancake mix, and canned food. And the army of volunteers are fantastic. I go to the Nova site and it's well run.”
“If you’re searching for a truly welcoming community experience, the lounge room at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles is a must-visit. Every Friday, the lounge buzzes with anticipation as members come together for their signature steak night, pork chop night, or the ever-popular surprise dinner. The camaraderie in the room is undeniable—everyone pitches in, making each meal feel like a celebration among friends. The cuts of meat are generous and cooked with real care, showing off the pride they take in their kitchen and events.
What truly sets this place apart isn’t just the hearty dinners, but how the members work seamlessly as a team. Whether they’re grilling, serving, or sharing laughs over dinner, there’s an infectious spirit of togetherness that makes you feel like you belong—even if it’s your first visit. If you’re after good food, warm company, and a sense of tradition that goes above and beyond, the Eagles lounge room delivers every time.”

“This is the best Goodwill store in the DC area. They have a huge selection of clothing, the biggest I've seen and I almost never come home empty handed. Clothing is a mix of modern and vintage, which I love. Housewares and book selection are smaller but still good. If you are in the mood to sift through clothing for deals and unique finds, this is the place to go. I also love how diverse the customer base is too -- from young people shopping with friends, to hipsters, families and older adults.”
“Attended training and could not recommend this place more for any and every law enforcement official. The staff is a wealth of knowledge and is willing to support your agency in any and every way possible!”
“Great gathering place for veterans, additive military and their families. Great events, dinners, weekend parties with bands and great food. A charitable organization, they go out of their way to help members and their families as well as all vets in need.”
“My name is nevea Cunningham, and we was just recently there on Thursday morning, and we ended our day off with And we ended our day off with Friday night. Hard barking farm is the greatest farm. I know we have cowboys and even goats and sheep. We did have chickens but the fox ate them. It isn't a lot of hiking to do. My legs was tired. I'm in fifth grade, by the way, all the staff members. Our great we ate pizza sandwiches, chips juices and we also got to wash dishes. If you go to hard bargain farm, make sure you're ready to walk. Cause a lot to do I hope you have a great night and I hope I visited. It or my kids visited when I get older.”
“This American Legion saved Gadsby’s Tavern and also helped set up the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution in the burial ground of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House. It is very historic and an awesome place for veterans as well as their families to enjoy. I am proud to be a member and love promoting the American Legion as often as I can. Keep up the great work!”
“A small pond filled with wild life, from turtles sunbathing to ducks swimming. There is also a large single bird that hangs around here. The are has two places where you can sit and relax and a large open field if you want to have a picnic .”

“Love the 4 land swimming pool and facilities. Staff have a super nice see Ms Gail she is super knowledgeable and professional. Pool has lockers with locks, towels and plastic bag for wet items along with kick boards and floaties. Highly recommend.”
“We love ACCA! My boys, ages 4 and 18 months, have had such great experiences. The teachers are exceptional - great communication, loving, welcoming, knowledgable, patient, nurturing and fun. My boys have thrived there. The meals that are provided are also so good and appreciated, offering a diverse, well balanced breakfast and lunch. Thank you ACCA staff for all you do! The facility and classrooms are spacious, safe and clean. I cannot say enough good things about this child/family centered program.”
“The Red Cross is a wonderful place. Moreover, the Red Cross has been pivotal in caring for service men and women for decades. Please support your local Red Cross with volunteerism or monetary donations because the Red Cross is where you are.”
