The wat they price things-at least from the last time I was there-where you pay through bags. Like, you purchase a certain size bag and whatever you fit in there is under that price. I'm definitely going there when I need materials for another project!”

“I recently had the opportunity to visit Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture for the second time with my company for a volunteering event, and once again, it was a memorable experience.
We started with a tour of the facility, where we learned about the rich and complex history of the property. It has both sad and wonderful parts, but it has now been repurposed into a beautiful, sustainable teaching farm. During the tour, we were able to taste fresh vegetables, ask questions, and learn about how Arcadia supports local communities in Virginia and D.C. We even learned that asparagus has a surprisingly pretty top growth (maybe that was just me!).
After the tour, we split into groups to tackle various tasks like weeding, mulching, composting, devining fences, harvesting vegetables, tilling with a machine, and more. There were so many things happening that I couldn’t keep track of them all!
When the hard work was done, we were treated to a lovely lunch, with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits to enjoy. This year was just as fantastic as my first visit, and I’m already looking forward to coming back in 2026. Thank you, Arcadia, for another wonderful experience!”
“During the worst of covid they provided food every other weekend almost. Now it's just once a month but each time we get chicken eggs bread fresh vegetables (this time it was a huge bag of onions and 10 lb of carrots) along with rice, beans, pancake mix, and canned food. And the army of volunteers are fantastic. I go to the Nova site and it's well run.”

“This is one of the more compact goodwills I have been to in the area. The parking lot for this location is small but with plenty of parking. Once inside the store, you will find a large selection of women's and men's clothes and shoes along with an ample house wears section. It has very small children's clothes, toys, and even smaller books sections. Like other goodwills in the area prices are fair. I would prioritize coming here if looking for clothing our housewares.”
“A beautiful estate property that became The American Horticultural Society and absolutely free and open to the public. House is open to roaming through with changing art exhibits. The view of the Potomac from the landscaped high Hill at the top is breathtaking.”

“My partner and I had a great experience here. We connected with a cat and submitted an application right away. Volunteers were helpful, responsive, and answered all of our questions. It was comforting to see how much the volunteers care about the cats and use a thorough application to find the best fit. I recommend approaching their process with patience, honesty, and respect for their assessment of the cats’ needs and demeanor.”
“I had to drive to Fairfax to pick up an item on FB marketplace place. on the way home I did a search for thrift shops in the area and this was one of the few places on my way home. Typically I don’t shop at goodwill because I don’t find their prices and items to be of much value but I decided to stop and check it out. I’m glad I did. I found a great 5 person tent in good condition for $12.99. The furniture was also nice and fairly priced, I found the clothes to also be fairly priced, at other thrifts it’s not uncommon now to find jeans priced at $14-16 which is what I pay for new jeans at Ross. If you’re in the area it’s certainly worth a look 👀!”

“My daughter have been with Alive since she was 2, he has been a wonderful experience from the begging, everyone in here care a LOT about the kids, if feels personal, nurturing and helpful with everyone all the time, is a small and beautiful community, no judgments, just help, they have always been so understandable and supportive with me and my daughter (I'm a single mom with a crazy work schedule). My daughter is my life, she has never been not even one day under care of a babysitter or anyone not blood related to her, this is the only people that has always make me feel safe enough to leave my daughter every day with them, she is always happy and likes her school. Thank you everyone in Alive! Ms. Pam, Ms. Flow, Ms. Silvia, Ms. Aster, and everyone else who have been part of my daughter happines.”
