Dog Krazy, Inc.
3310 W Cary St, RichmondI love this place!! They’re always the friendliest and always are wonderful to my dog. Ella was incredible with helping me get my dog’s nails trimmed— got them done super quick and easy and the pup was very happy afterwards. Kaitlyn is also wonderful, and was super helpful in helping me pick out a treat for him :) Thanks guys! You rock!!

CritterTown BathHouse
2819 Hathaway Rd, RichmondIf you have an animal who needs a wash, GO HERE! They literally have everything you need---towels, shampoo, conditioner, ear wipes, various types of brushes, crates, blowdryers at the tub, and a separate blowdrying station. Just to make it even better, the employee on duty was an actual angel. She was friendly and knowledgeable, but she also was attentive to my dog. I have a senior dog who rushed down the steps and felt on the floor. She couldn't get up, and while I was in shock, the employee lept into action and made a sling for me with a towel. She escorted my baby to the cash register while I gathered my things and gave her a treat to help her feel better. I will 3000% be back, and be more diligent in guiding my dog down the stairs (she's perfectly fine btw).

PetSmart
1276 Carmia Way, RichmondWhile this Petsmart isn't exactly close to where I live, the parking is abundant, the prices are competitive with Petco and I feel like they offer a lot of brands that Petco does not. I have a puppy that I am trying to transition to a more high-end food and Petco just didn't have the brands I was looking for. This PetSmart has a great variety of Merrick, Instinct, Natural Balance and Wellness brands and now carries the Bobby Flay "Nacho" food line, which previously you could only get online. I feel like they usually have what I need whether it be for my turtle, cats or now our new puppy, Wilma.

Petnificent, LLC
1125 Gaskins Rd Suite #300, RichmondAMAZING service and even more amazing humans working here. Finding a groomer for a cat is difficult. They are far and few between, finding one short notice - FORGET ABOUT IT! My little dude had a litter box disaster this morning and I did what I could but I needed help, some fur trimming, a mat located in a very precarious place. Theresa not only fit me in, but did such an amazing job with a 10 month old kitten who had never been to a groomer. The other groomer there, Ascher (sp? ) gave me such valuable information to help at home. My little dude is more comfortable and all is well. Pets are family and they treat them as such. I watched as they groomed two pups as well. I have a groomer!

It is a 'no frills' place but my dog doesn't need a pool or gym equipment. She needs a loving staff and plenty of dogs to play with. It is affordable and they will even bath her and trim her nails for me. She goes to daycare 2 days a week. Dog's Day Inn
213 Granite Spring Rd, RichmondMy girl absolutely loves it here!! She’s still a puppy and has very bad anxiety, but is always so happy to come here! When we tell her it’s time to go to daycare or boarding, she gets her harness and runs to the front door with it and waits there until it’s time to go! When we drop her off, she gets so excited she can barely even contain herself and immediately runs over to the staff to give them hugs and kisses and everyone working is always so thrilled to see her. And since she has such bad anxiety, this is always really nice to see. I always feel comfortable leaving after drop off and always feel heart warmed by how happy she is to see all the staff and how happy they are to see her too! And on top of that, they have excellent prices!! I couldn’t recommend Dog’s Day Inn enough!!

Bush Veterinary Neurology Service (BVNS) - Richmond
5918 W Broad St, RichmondI had a wonderful experience with Dr. Michael Higginbotham and his team during my visit for my dog. Dr. Higginbotham was extremely helpful, took the time to thoroughly explain everything, and clearly demonstrated his expertise in the field. He made me feel confident and comfortable with my dogs MRI results and provided an accurate diagnosis. He even showed me the MRI images and pointed out the specific issues, which was very reassuring. I never felt rushed, and I truly appreciated the care and attention my dog received while there. Although he wasn’t able to perform one of the optional treatments himself, he recommended an oncologist who may be able to help my dog further.
While the services were expensive, I can confidently say it was well worth it for the professional care and the peace of mind from finally getting the correct diagnosis. His assistant was kind and caring, and the front desk staff was attentive and welcoming. I highly recommend this veterinary office for anyone in need of specialized care for their pet.

Betty Baugh's Animal Clinic
5322 Patterson Ave, RichmondWe have had nothing but fantastic experiences at Betty Baugh’s. My girlfriend and I moved to RVA a few years ago with her now 13 year old cat, and we have been going there for all our vet needs. They are fantastic at working with you to ensure that you receive all the required care for your pet, while still working within your budget. It has been fantastic for a couple of college kids with an old cat. The entire staff also cares so much. Recently, when our kitty was having some stomach issues they managed to fit us in between appointments. Multiple members of their staff have messaged us to check in on our cat (not just the doctor, but even some of the front desk staff). We highly recommend Betty Baughs!

Pet Sitting & Training

Calm K9 Training
4 N 4th St #305, RichmondCarl is great at reading a dog and its environment and knowing how to approach training for that specific scenario. He taught us how to apply all of the training to our two young dogs and they have significantly improved! I was very much worried about taking them to my mom's house since she has a dog and I really didn't know how it would go between the three of them. We let them meet off leash in the fenced in yard and then were able to bring them inside. Having a solid "place" command was crucial to this! They were able to place in their beds in the living room while the dog whose home it was was able to continue his normal behavior. This led to a happy visit!Thank you for teaching us that it is possible to have happy and calm dogs in any situation. I am currently beefing up on the off leash portion of the training and am well equipped with the knowledge to do so thanks to this training program. Thanks again!

Richmond SPCA
2519 Hermitage Rd, RichmondI would like to update my review on Richmond SPCA. After a bad experience, I decided to give them another chance and try them out again. I checked two kittens I was interested in, and they were extremely helpful. The man who helped me was named Jeff, I hope that everyone gets to see this review to see how awesome his customer service was. Answered all my worries and questions, and in the end, they told me I would not need to pay for my two new kittens because they are sorry that my mother's old cat Badoon died. I felt like they do in fact care for customer service, otherwise they wouldn't do such a thing. Jeff was the star of the show, and now I have Najm and Qamar (Star, and moon). I will be going back soon again for another kitten for my mother too!.
Absolutely terrible service, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
I adopted a cat from them to give to my mom. Last week he got sick with urinary blockage (apparently a common thing with male cats right now). We called scpa they said they can help at their own clinic. When I spoke to their clinic they said they can't help since it's an emergency. Spca told me they would adopt him back and cure him and we can take him back. Waited, me and my family called daily for answers. They were supposed to call us back and they never did, whenever we'd call them they'd just say they'll call us back. No matter how urgent we sounded, and worried. On Sunday morning, my mom's cat passed away after having a painful screaming session, he put his head on her lap and passed away. So I blame scpa fully for his death, I'm never going back there again. They let us down so bad when they could have cured him the first time we spoke to them a week ago.
Badoon the orange cat is now dead thanks to scpa. My whole family is deeply affected by his passing. I attached a picture of him for memory.
