Cave Spring Veterinary Clinic
4538 Old Cave Spring Rd, RoanokeThe entire staff was very courteous and professional. We were able to get immediate attention to a minor issue that needed a small surgical procedure. We were advised of what the procedure was going to be and care for our pet after the procedure. The price for the procedure was very reasonable and would recommend the Clinic for any pet care.

Southern Hills Animal Hospital
3827 Hite St SW, RoanokeI really appreciate the way everything was explained to me about my precious pup. The exam seemed to be very thorough and Dr. Preston expressed concern and cared about the well-being of my dog. The vet assistant ( Richard?) was awesome as well. Loved the office cat too. Fees were fair and reasonable for the services my dog received. Thank you.
BTW- I appreciate the way the office does not smell like a vet’s office.

Brandon Animal Hospital
3403 Brandon Ave SW, RoanokeThis is hands-down the best vet I've ever been to. Dr. Wilson and the entire staff went above and beyond to treat my Tzu who had multiple medical issues. Dr. Wilson is the sweetest and the most thorough veterinarian and truly cared about my little Buddy. Every member of the staff was so gentle and caring with him, up until his last hour. They always took their time and were never in a hurry. They take the time to explain everything in detail. And they are very reasonably priced compared to any other place I've been. I can't thank them enough for taking such good care of my boy.

Harris Animal Hospital
6805 Peters Creek Rd, RoanokeThis vet office has been super professional and awesome every time they have seen one of my animals. I have not been happy with some vets before but the vets here only recommend what they need to diagnose any problems, vaccines and preventative to keep my animals healthy, and treatment that is needed. They are extremely compassionate and listen to my concerns and answer my questions in a way i can understand. They have always worked with me on my budget, which can be very tight at times. Their prices are awesome and extremely reasonable compared to other vets that I have seen. They are definitely the vet office to go to!!
Update 3/28/25- still going here. They are my go to vet with my animals.
Update 12/5/25- they have seen my animals and 2 have went over the rainbow bridge under their care....nothing to do with the vet, but all due to old age and ailments from that. Their care has always been kind and compassionate and I know they care for my babies as much as I do.

Brady's Distillery
711 Pocahontas Ave NE, RoanokeIf you go to Brady’s on a Sunday chances are you will get Daniel. Daniel is a great bartender for many reasons. First of all he makes a fabulous drink. Lastly, he does a great job for both the customer and to best represent for his establishment.

Blue Cow Ice Cream Co.
1115 Piedmont St SE, RoanokeThey have dairy free flavors and they're ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD. Plus if you order DF they ask if you would like them to use a new scoop, which is very considerate. Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint Roanoke
210 b Market St SE, RoanokeI decided to stop by New Year's eve to get something in my stomach before drinking. They were full but I was offered a seat outside and took it. The food is all great here. Tonight they had a man carding at the front door. A customer came up already with a bad attitude. He didn't want to be carded and was insulted for he had been coming here for years. The gentleman minding the door whose name was Chris handled it very calmly with no attitude even though the guy calmed he didn't like Chris's attitude. the customer was clear trying to start something but only received politeness. I saw that same guy trying to start it up with another gentleman watching the door. Great job to Chris. He was also nice enough to stop and chat with me and do his job. I was the only one sitting outside it was nice to be acknowledged. Thanks

bloom restaurant & wine bar
1109 Main St SW, RoanokeThe cinnamon roll brought tears to my eyes!
I just ate a bloom cinnamon roll. The whole thing. By myself! There is no way mere humans made it. Celestial beings had to have made that cinnamon roll… Whenever I eat at bloom, I always have the experience that their food is connecting with my entire being, through my heart and soul, in as much as the exacting care that is put into ingredients and preparation tends my body. “Delicious” is a heavenly, healthy word, here on earth, thanks to bloom. Long live bloom!

The Albemarle Bakery & Coffee House
203 Albemarle Ave SW, RoanokeWonderful local coffee shop in Roanoke. Don't let the outside fool you! I would pass by this place every time if I didn't see the sign. The owners did an excellent job flipping this home into a coffee shop. Great place to work and/or meet someone. The coffee is delicious and highly recommend trying their famous cheddar rosemary biscuits - these are fabulous! They also have a variety of breakfast items and pastries. Please note, they are only open Monday-Friday. Maybe the owners will consider opening on Saturdays in the future :)

China Wok
4821 Williamson Rd, RoanokeThe young man who answered the phone was friendly, clear, and helpful. When I arrived, my order was ready, even though they were very busy. The egg roll I ate on the way home had a surprisingly baked-bread-like wrapper. (Perhaps these were made in house? I prefer wraps that have more egg in them and fry up bubbly crispy and chewy.) We ordered pork steamed dumplings, pints of Beef & Broccoli and Sweet & Sour Chicken with white rice. The price of our order was very reasonable, about $24. The food was fresh & tasty. My beef was very tender and the broccoli cooked just right. I had enough for a delicious lunch the next day. My husband typically orders Sweet & Sour or Orange chicken, either of which is breaded, fried, then covered with sticky sugary sauce. Tsk! I shake my head. This is too rich for his digestion! He ate his entire meal with an eggroll and a dumpling or two, twice the amount he normally eats for dinner, then complained that indigestion kept him up at night. His complaints don't count! Order something sensible, people! I'm thankful to all ya'll on Yelp for helping me find this popular place!

A1 AFGHAN RESTAURANT AND GROCERY
2816 Williamson Rd, RoanokeAlways a fantastic meal from the restaurant! Anything with lamb or chicken from this place has always satisfied me. The Lamb Shank is incredibly tender and was huge for the price. The Qabl E Palau is also equally excellent. The carrots and raisins in the rice are such a wonderful complement to the savory lamb. The biryani was enjoyably spicy and had what appeared to be birds eye chilis which I think rounded out the dish quite well. The kebabs are made fresh right on the grill in the front and are quite juicy and tender. The store that is connected to the restaurant is also a pleasant experience. I always grab some sweets, tea and dry goods after my meal to complete the experience.
