“My family and I have been to different Krogers and by far our favorite is the Kroger at Yorktown. I understand that each person may have different experiences when they shop, even our experience varies per visit. However, the most consistently well maintained and stocked Kroger is Yorktown. The staff I have interacted with is also friendly, relative to other Kroger locations. Overall, the well stocked items and store layout are the main reasons why we choose Yorktown as much as possible.”

“I was having a terrible day and I went into Trader Joe's to get yogurt pretzels ( which if y'all could bring back the strawberry ones that would be great). I went in and bought two items. I was helped right away by an amazing worker make Liz. Liz gave me stickers when I asked and went above and beyond with her service. I honestly wish Liz could get a raise, bonus, a something. She honestly made my entire day and she deserves the world. Thank you Liz so much”

“I grew up in New York City eating Black Pudding, we called it Blood Pudding. Getting the blood pudding was almost impossible in Hampton Roads. There was a British shop on Witchduck Road but closed years ago. I finally found Best of British in Hampton. Owners Mike and Jackie are the nicest people as well as the other young lady who works there! I feel their prices are very reasonable, online the cost was more and you have to pay shipping, which for foods requiring freezer packs is very expensive! I buy the Winston Blood Pudding and it is always excellent, even my grandson is liking it. Their assortment of candies and cookies bring back my childhood memories of shopping at a British import store in Queens New York. Thanks Mike and Jackie!”

“The workers are so friendly. This is a really small store and yeah, it looks a bit sketchy on the outside but it's a really cute spot. My girlfriend is Asian and she drags me here pretty often but I don't mind. It's a fun spot and they have a bunch of niche Asian things you're looking for. Workers are really nice too”

“Been here twice so far and both times the food was delicious! If you’re a fan of hotter than “Indian Hot”, they have “Cobra Hot” ? for the spice lovers. It’s so hard to pick what to order because it’s all SO GOOD!”

“I feel it's worth leaving a review since we've ordered in and ordered take out. The actual restaurant is an intimate, cute, and clean setup. I was actually shocked to walk into the back to see a small restaurant that would allow you to eat inside, but nonetheless my husband and I ordered and sat. Service was attentive, fast, and very accommodating. We tried lengua tacos, Al pastor tacos, and a carne asada torta. We like that this restaurant serves pico de gallo with their tacos here, and their salsas were delicious. Hands down one of the best tortas I've had here in Newport News. The lengua tacos are steamed and flavorful, and Al pastor tacos are really great too. Small store, but packs a punch in flavor. Worth giving a shot in my humble opinion.”

“Nice little shop. They have all your quick items and are friendly. I called to bother them about milk and they checked to be sure they had it, the last 1/2 gal. Just good people everytime we are in. Thank you!”

“Although there was a problem with my pickup order due to an online system out of the stores control, the staff were so kind about everything and super apologetic. The manager was really sweet and personable and made the overall experience better. Great customer service!”

“Fantastic little grocery store that has almost everything you need for an Asian dish. They had Filipino, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and some Indian ingredients.Sometime they even have the harder to get Asian fruits like persimmons. In December 2023, they were $2.49/lb.”

“Helpful staff, though limited selection of products while Kroger tends to beat them on overall prices. No self checkout can make for really long lines in the evenings when only one register is open.”

“DG is my choice for every day staples, cleaning supplies, pet stuff, etc. We're spending locally, same name brands (or highly comparable on some items) for less. What's not to like?”

“Perfect little Filipino store with a lot of options (snacks, seasonings, sauces, and more). We go here for our lumpia wrappers and sauces, and once we run out of our current seasonings, we plan to buy them here. Very fair prices and super friendly owners! Photo is of the wrappers they sell being used for lumpia. Next time I visit, I will take photos of inside the store.”

“I always find what I need for the Japanese dishes I make. The produce is fresh and the prices are reasonable. When they did not have some rice crackers I needed, the store buyer showed me photos from a catalog to make sure he was going to order the right item.”

“Clean and well stocked Food Lion. Still a great place to shop with good customer service. Picked up a few grap and go Italian subs this time for $3.99, a great bargain and very delicious ?”

“Has all the Indian and Middle Eastern foods you may need. We were able to find some harder to find fresh vegetables, and they even had paneer. The dried items have everything for cooking some traditional Indian cuisine along with raw items to try you hand at making naan, lentil-based dishes, and beans.Cheapest place I could find to get sesame seed old.”

“Lidl has the best paper towels. I only come to Lidl to purchase the paper towels, 6 big rolls in a pack for about $11.59 and if you have the app you can save $3.00, try it out, and they last for awhile for me, check it out”

“It was my first visit. I was passing by from a doctor’s appointment. I live forty miles away. First thing I noticed was huge pumpkins for only $3.00. I was disappointed with the bakery area. That was the reason I stopped by. I wanted to buy a few pastries for my grandchildren. I wasn’t surprised though because in Crete, Greece I shopped at Lids and the bakery in the afternoon was empty from sweets. I was surprised how huge it was and organized. I walked around to find the section with European Goods. I noticed fresh produce. Reasonable prices. It’s one stop shop. Goods for every budget. Great variety. I loved to see European Goods. I found the European sweets. Chocolates for $1.00. Cookies for $1.00. I picked two of each. I went through the self checkout and had trouble with my card but a very pleasant employee noticed me so she came over and helped me. In other Stores if something is not going well I have to signal for help. Once in a while I do visit the area because I go to Costco but on my next shopping spree I will stop by Lids.”

“The commissary is competitive in alot of there items they carry unlike the exchange. Which are different places. Good for the local community and the troops that are stationed there. Very clean, shelves are stocked nice restrooms, nice place to buy groceries and for people who have disabilities can shop an hour before the store opens up.”

“Nice to see how much the store has changed in the past few years. Sad to see ice cream go but it seems they have transitioned to a fishing and hunting store with everything you need. People complain about prices; however, it is a small family buisness so I understand.”

“I think it's is a very good place to visit I go there all the time the store is very nice and comfortable the people that work there are very polite and friendly”

“Average grocery store. Has good produce and meat selection. Check the dates. I gave full 5 stars because the employees are friendly and they have zero self checkouts, which I see as a plus but know before you go that you will not be checking yourself out.”

“2023-11-22 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Still a great place to shop. A little more expensive than other stores but more premium products to go with those prices. Freshly cooked pizza, discounted on Monday afternoon and evening. The Asian bar is good at lunch and dinner.2015 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shop at HT regularly. Usually Thursdays for the Senior discount. Usually a good selection of groceries. Good complement to Food Lion. There are a few items each has that the other doesn't.”

“Not nearly as cheap or as crowded as it used to be. Not worth making g long trip for like it used to be. Before you would save a dollar or so per item now it's the same or more than your local grocery store.”

“I have not been in a Dollar General in over 25 years, and when I visited this Dollar General I was astonished at how much it has improved and the much greater variety of products it now sells. The place is jammed and packed with lots of different products, so much that it's like a mini-Walmart of sorts. For its size, they have a great variety of foods and beverages, cleaning products, housewares, tools, hygiene and medical supplies, personal care items, batteries, electronic devices; kids playthings, clothing, diapers, formulas, and toys; kitchenware, and other stuff. The place was organized, clean, and the staff were courteous, friendly, and professional. They also have a FedEx pickup, where you can drop off packages here to be picked up by FedEx later, and they will give you a receipt for dropping such off. The parking lot is fairly large and has plenty of space. All in all, this place is great and surprisingly has a lot of stuff at good prices. I would strongly recommend visiting this place just to browse through the place and see the huge variety of stuff they sell and their low prices on such. Doing so will put Dollar General on your map as a place you can go for a lot of stuff at good prices, and will probably pleasantly surprise you and change your view of the store chain and franchise.”
