“Today I stopped in Ken’s because I wanted some Grandma’s potato salad. I went up to the counter and asked the lady how much a half pound of Grandma’s potato salad was. After she gave me the price, I told her I only had $2.18. She said that was fine and proceeded to put the sticker on it. Then she went up to the cash register and handed me 30 cents. As I was getting ready to pay, I went to swipe my card and told the cashier that he only had to charge me $2.18 first, but he told me he had it. I even tried to give the change back, but he still said he had it covered. Small acts of kindness like this really mean a lot, and I just want to say thank you to this wonderful staff for their kindness and generosity.”

“Hidden gem if you’re looking for more than just groceries. A-Mart has a little bit of everything going on. The deli had a line when I visited, which is usually a good sign, and the self-serve boba station was a fun surprise. You can customize your own drink with different teas, boba, and toppings. There’s even a row of claw machines tucked inside that gives the place a unique vibe. A little busy, a little chaotic, but that’s part of the charm. Definitely worth stopping in to browse, grab a bite, and see what catches your eye.”

The rice and beans orders were HUGE and SO good. We ended up ordering much more food than we could eat! Dishes we really loved included the pastor pork, the barbacoas de res, Salsa de Aguacate / Avocado Sauce, and, as mentioned above, the freshly made tortillas are awesome. The whole thing was a great value too. We felt we got so much for our money. I had a bit of a challenge ordering because I do not speak Spanish, but the manger Armando walked us through it. Highly recommended! I would definitely order for a large party from here again.”

I ordered the spicy chicken shawarma, and damn, it was absolutely delicious. After seeing mixed reviews, I was only expecting an okay meal, but the food completely blew me away. The staff was super helpful, and I even had a nice chat with the butcher. This place is a real hidden gem. I’ll definitely be coming back for lunch often, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. “Great Woodmans gas station The two employees working on weekdays are always friendly. Gas prices are the best on the west side and the most affordable almost always here. The only thing that is missing here is a automatic car wash,vacuums and oil change service. It would be a good idea to add these services if possible because at all other Woodmans gas stations the car wash service is always great at an affordable price and same goes for their oil change service.It would be a good idea to use some of the parking lot behind the gas station to make this possible and would most likely be a huge success especially with the west side of Madison growing at a high rate in population every year.”

“I'm a big fan of Festival Foods, and the Verona location is no exception. One of my favorite things about Festival is the deli because you can find pretty much anything you want. They make fresh food every day, and you can either grab something prepackaged or get a premade, homestyle cooked meal. They have everything from meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, mashed potatoes, shepherd's pie, tater tot casserole and lasagna to sushi, fried chicken, a salad bar, taco salads, taco dips and so much more. I love that I can walk up to the deli and find an actual meal that's ready to go. The food is fresh, and if something isn't from that day, they're good about marking it down and putting it on clearance rather than pretending it's freshly made. The produce section is good, although I do wish it were a little more comprehensive. You're not going to find the enormous selection that you might find at somewhere like Woodman's. They tend to carry what's more commonly available or in season. I eat a lot of mangoes, for example, and sometimes they don't have them, which is disappointing. What isn't disappointing is the quality. The produce they do have is fresh, always in good shape, and they have organic options as well. I've also found that when I buy produce at Festival, it lasts. I'm not bringing something home only to find that it's already going bad a day or two later. I'd rather have a somewhat smaller selection of produce that's actually fresh and lasts. Their meat and seafood department is another thing I really like. They have fresh beef, chicken, pork and seafood behind the counter, along with plenty of frozen options across from the meat counter. Everything is clearly dated, and I especially like being able to buy fresh seafood from the counter rather than having to buy everything frozen. They also have different sections throughout the store for different types of foods, including Asian and Italian foods, as well as organic selections. I really enjoy being able to find those specialty items without having to go to another store. They have a pretty comprehensive liquor department, including a walk-in cooler for beer and other beverages, and a large frozen-food section. And, of course, this is Wisconsin, so we have to talk about cheese! 😂 They have a really nice cheese selection. It may not be quite as extensive as Hy-Vee's, but Festival has plenty to choose from, and I've found the cheeses to be fresh and reasonably priced. Overall, I really enjoy shopping at Festival Foods in Verona. There are a few things I'd love to see more of, particularly a larger produce selection, but what they do carry is consistently fresh and good quality. Between the deli, fresh meals, meat and seafood counter, specialty foods, organic options, cheeses, frozen foods and liquor department, I can usually find pretty much everything I need in one trip.”

“I have been in Madison for more than three years and this is the place I always gor for Indian grocery. I go there for curvy leaves, jack fruit, lotus root, green chilli, goat meat, and spices. They get fresh stuff around Tuesdays around 6 pm. If you go there around that time, you can buy all the fresh vegetables, fish and meat.”

Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region. The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.
Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
