“Hello!!! I’m Michele Fort, the proud owner of Holy Hands Painters™️, a company specializing in wall coverings and painting…
I discovered the We Rise program through a Local First employee, and I truly believe it’s a crucial stepping stone for aspiring entrepreneurs like me… This program cultivates an environment where individuals can grow and share their vulnerabilities without the pressure…
The entrepreneurial journey is a mix of challenges and triumphs, and I feel honored to be a member of alumni cohort 8…
The program has significantly impacted my business, helping me scale operations, secure funding, and achieve second place at Demo Pitch Day 2025…
I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support from the We Rise team!!!”
“I did a puppy yoga class here. ❤️ I couldnt focus on the yoga tho. I love that they take care of mom's and their pups. I've never seen a shelter with this specialty. Another, next level, cool thing, is that the pizza place next to them donates and gives a percentage to the shelter. Sometimes you can find a play area for the pups on the patio at the pizza place. What a great collabo idea!”
“This place is not your fancy animal clinic but they get the job done at a more affordable rate. If you are looking to spay or neuter your pet this is the place to go!”
“A club of Mexican American and Latino veterans that serves as a recreation and meeting center, coexistence for them and their families, I really congratulate you”
“We used the room they had at the Thunderbird Medical Center. There wasn't a place to review that facility specifically, but it was such a huge refugee and benefit for my husband and I as we went through the adoption process. The volunteers and workers were absolutely wonderful and the facilities were beautiful and very compassionately thought out. From laundry to snacks they thought of so many things to help easy the hospital stay. Thanks for all the help”
““‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil”
Thank you Crossroads for accepting and helping my brother get back to being who God created him to be. Day 1. I love you brother. ~ Dani”
“I went to Kitten Yoga at Heidi’s Village today and it was an incredible experience! The staff were kind, friendly, and super engaged. A great way to reach the community for a good cause. I hope there are more Kitten Yoga events in the future! I will be the first to sign up!”
“Brian S. is great! Very positive upbeat, friendly informational, and is an active listener. His communication is on point Along with his professionalism. The sense of humor was the cherry on top. Vincent is pretty cool too.”
“New Pathways is a stellar organization, and an incredible service for youth in our area. I encourage all to mentor - it's a great way to give back and directly see your impact.”
“My investments sat stagnant for years until The Esparza Group took over for me. I am shocked at how much they have grown my $$ in just over a year. Great group, super responsive and fun to be with! A+”
“As a volunteer coordinator for a local Phoenix nonprofit, I’ve been blown away by the Phoenix Community ToolBank!
Their vast inventory of high-quality tools has equipped our team for countless projects, from park cleanups to home repairs for families in need.
We’ve saved thousands in costs, allowing us to focus on impact. With easy membership and friendly staff, it’s a game-changer for community doers.
Highly recommend—join the movement! #ToolsForChange”
“NACA is an excellent program for individuals seeking guidance and support on the path to homeownership. The counselors are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping participants succeed. If you are serious about buying a home and willing to stay committed to the process, NACA provides valuable resources and direction. The staff is honest and helpful, and they work with you as long as you remain focused, organized, and financially prepared. I would recommend this program to anyone who is ready to put in the time, submit the required documentation, build savings, and stay dedicated to their home buying goals.”
“I was greeted by a really kind woman at the front desk, she gave me a tour of the building and shared with me what services they provided for the woman. I was there to donate clothes. Donated hours on the website are not correct, end time is at 3pm not 4 pm. First time I showed put at 4pm and it was closed and the poster above the door said 3pm.”
“H.E.L.P. is an amazing organization with tremendous amazing leadership and mentorship. Dawn-Marie is an amazing, inspiring leader within our Arizona Community and we are so grateful for her empowering courage to make a difference everyday. It's amazing the power of influence, especially an impactful, positive momentum, truly unstoppable what her and everyone that puts forth the amazing community service. Grateful to know her and others working with her. If myself and our DumpsterIP business can be of service helping and supporting, we too, are here as Dawn-Marie continues to lead and guide my heart and way to becoming a leader in the community as well. A great example of mentorship as she has taught me and others the ways to see things beyond what we see, but what we can do with the eyes closed to see further than one can imagine. Thank you do for this community the families, and the children looking for their purpose and you allow them a chance to find it as we know its' always there, change is growth, and you make change. My HERO! Thank you!
Andrea Kunz is such a “H.E.L.P.” with true compassion and professionalism. This nonprofit demonstrates leadership in the community, offering guidance and support where it’s most needed. Their dedication to serving others with integrity is inspiring. We love you all!”
“This library is AMAZING and I love how many activities are available to many different groups of people! The book selection is fabulous, as is the music selection. One of my top three libraries ever!”

“Phoenix Rescue Mission donation center is above and beyond what I expected, I contacted Jonathan and told him I was moving into my apartment on the following Monday. Jonathan had me come down on Friday to see what was available for furniture. I picked out a couch and entertainment center and coffee table and area rug share that match the sofa a very large table bed and dresser. Jon assisted me with filling out the information of my new address which is in Mesa. I moved into my apartment on a Monday and Tuesday Jonathan delivered all my furniture to my apartment. My entire apartment is furnished by Phoenix Rescue Mission. They went above and beyond anything I expected”
“Mom's pantry was pretty great. You stand in a short line to get in the door, with the staff smiling and peppy with waters at the ready. Once you get inside there's another short line before you meet with a staff member at a table. They grab only your ID, input your information in the system (if it's your first time you give them a form you got while standing in line containing very basic info for you and everyone in your household) and then you pick a few items from their specialty lists taped to the table, even a selection for an infant and a cat/dog if you have any. Before long a staff member rolls a cart out of the back with those specialty items and other stuff they randomly pick for you. I found canned goods of course, along with a meat, bread, rice, beans, milk, pasta, and donuts. It was not a bad catch. It was all a quick, easy, and pleasurable experience in a time of need. Would definitely recommend to anyone.”
“Best part of February is when I get to go and purchase books. It’s easy here to find what your looking for and just as easy to take home a bag or two full of books. I would suggest making a list of books you want before going to help keep your goal books you want. Also have flexibility because sometimes a book just seem to pick you sometimes. Great people there to help you along the way if you need help or just want to talk about books that might also interest you. I will say reading others peoples take on books I would not normally get got me to step out of my normal. Your first time going make sure you have good shoes and be in comfy outfit and being a bag or to that can hold the book that chose to come home with you”
“Update: Scout shop is brand new! Bigger selection of items from clothing, accessories, awards. Janice and Maria are Gems!
Old:I love being close to home but still able to camp. Especially with Cub Scouts or those new to Boy Scouts and/or camping.
The Heard is being remodeled and has improved so much this year! (2024)
Loved our host Ranger Chuck. He crushed it as a host! We were thankful for his knowledge of the area and wildlife. We will return!”
“Very good organization. Provides lots of support for both patients and caregivers as well as many different Support groups facilitated by a trained professional. Highly recommended”
“Hit or miss semi-organized inventory for builders and first time home buyers. Great prices for that one unique piece (i.e., lighting). Great area rugs. Friendly staff. Store could have been better organized. The front of the building is not inviting. Parking area needs to be cleaned sadly of human waste.”
“If you’re looking for an organization that actually walks the talk, Arizona Autism United is it. Their team shows up with expertise, heart, and intention. You can tell they’re not just checking boxes—they’re changing lives. Phoenix is better because they’re here.”

“My first time volunteering at The Andre House for Monday dinner service was incredible. The staff and volunteers were so welcoming, and the spirit of the place is rooted in compassion and service. I felt blessed to help. I’m already planning to come back two more times this month. Such a beautiful experience.”
“There are some amazing women here. I can't thank you guys enough for everything you have done for us in the past and in the future. Kona Grill of Desert Ridge thank you for your services!!!”
“Great little thrift store with a rotating variety of items. I've found multiple incredible values here. Plus unlike Goodwill, this store isn't paying executives six figure salaries and the money's actually going towards good causes.”
“Wonderful combination of Ethyl and Ron running the show. This is a phenomenal community type like business. Absolutely awesome that it's a easy Arizona tax. Write-off and every week you get a boatload of food in the process.”
“Went to tacos chiscos with a friend for the first time today. Been wanting to go for months. Well I'll tell you it was definitely worth the wait. One of the best Mexican food places I've been to and I've been to many in the valley since 1989. It was so authentic & fresh and so DELICIOUS!! The ELOTE alone was the bomb and the tacos were packed full of tender, delicious juicy meat and absolutely wonderful; the coconut shrimp was really, really good-would definitely order again and just the entire experience was nice. It's a very nice restaurant- cozy and clean. I would highly recommend going there if you're looking for an authentic Mexican meal for a good price!”
“I emailed them about a baby bunny that had been attacked by a cat and suffered a broken leg. They responded quickly and told me to bring the bunny in right away during intake times without any hesitation.
The staff was incredibly caring, compassionate, and professional. I’m so grateful I found this place when the bunny needed help most. It’s clear that they genuinely care about the animals they treat and the people who bring them in.
Thank you for everything you do. I will definitely be making a donation in the future to support your amazing work.”
