“I have been here a few times mostly for a coffee and pastry. I have had their babka pastry, chocolate croissant and the yummy bacon and cheese pastry.
What inspired me to write this review though is the service I received today. I called the store to ask if they had forbidden rice. The owner went and looked for me and they had it. But it gets better. As I was there I realized I needed some mirin for a dinner I was to prepare tonight. He said he didn’t have any in the shelves. Then he said he could help me anyway. He went to the back at the sandwich service counter and had a big bottle of it for the food he prepares. He asked me how much I needed and handed me a paper bowl of mirin!! He, the owner, went out of his way like that was awesome. I will continue to patronize this market. Yay for local neighborhood businesses! ??”
“Its a great shop. I have been coming her for years. They have in my opinion the best in store selection of supplements and skincare items in the East Bay. The staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable about products. My only critique would be that the beans in the Turkey Chili they had in stock this week had not been properly cooked. Otherwise its a great store and it is in a superb location with plenty of parking.”

“So happy to have this market in the area! This store is well-stocked, really clean, and well-organized. I walk there multiple times a week for small grocery hauls or just to grab a quick snack. I love that there are some Asian/Korean products too! I can stock up on fresh bread, tofu, snacks, some produce, household cleaning items, and grab a frozen treat for the walk home ?”
“Nice local market, not as large as others but always plenty of fresh fruit & veggie options. As well as other local fare such as hummus, bakery delights, bread, eggs, jam, spices, tamales, etc. The biggest concern would be the extremely limited parking situation. They basically close off a neighborhood street to host this market, so always shady & cool.”
“I really enjoy coming here for last minute shopping, the pastry shop has a great selection of cakes, and the coffee spot inside is a great place to go for coffee/lunch with friends.”
“Nice little shop. I was impressed with the wide variety of imported beverages- so many intriguing flavors! I grabbed some Cadbury Twirls, and an absolutely fantastic Nestle Baklava bar that was sumptuous. Not overly sweet and it had beautiful crunch from the phyllo and chopped pistachios. I'm scheming a return for some of the halal butcher counter offerings and some of the middle eastern breads on offer.
Addendum: Last time I was in I got a tub of the mango labne and good gracious- it’s so delicious. A mango labne Basque cheesecake is something I think I need to make ?”
“A supermarket that looks like the 1970s a bit outdated but they have everything and no waiting in line cashiers. Great for quick shopping and when the other store is out of roasted chickens lucky has them ready and hot.”
“Very good and kind people! left my airpods once and i came back and they had it hidden and safe for me! What a beautiful family business, the father and son are super nice and so is their daughter :). Place also had a major upgrade!”

“this place is the best grocery store to get food and other stuff and its more cheaper then safeway or luckys cuz the amount of stuff i bought from them its costed me around 20 close to 30 bucks in the amount of stuff i bought from them so i am 100% going back to them more and besides there staff are very kind and helpful but i wish there more cashiers cuz every time i came here i see maybe 1 or 2 cashier at most so maybe if they had more cashiers and baggers this place is most to come to”
“Super organized and the vegetables are very clean! I found everything I was looking for and when I couldn’t I asked a really nice employee.
Parking was easy to find! They have a small parking lot that leads to a bigger one!
All the employees were smiley and a couple asked if I needed help! I love supporting small independent businesses so this was a 5 star for me!”

“I always stop by for some soda. They carry Mexican glass bottled sprite and coke which taste so much better than the American coke and that's why I like going here.”
“Roberto and his wife are very kind and welcoming. They've been here for a long time, weathered through covid and are still going. Been stopping by since before and long after high school as I live near by, sad to be finally moving away from this lovely neighborhood. They're a small family run corner store. Help support your local businesses and families, grab a drink and snack if you're nearby and say hi to the lovely people. Mom and pop stores are becoming more and more rare by the year...”

This is the kind of place you stumble on once and keep coming back to. Highly recommended!”
“The cutest store. I love to stop by on my walks to pop in and grab my favorite ice cream (their espresso flavor!) for me and a scoop of vanilla for my dog. It’s always a pleasure to see their guard dog Bella too 😊”

“The best Safeway I've ever been to. Best customer service. Hard workers. There to help. Clean ambiance. The very best. And so inclusive, thank you for promoting lunar new year in a country that overlooks the Asian American crisis. Thank you for always providing superior service. I love shopping at Safeway on Island Drive in Alameda, CA. It might not be the largest supermarket but it is dependable. Small but mighty. "Small" depends on who's comparing size. Hands down, my favorite Safeway ever!!!!”
“Have to say , tonight was my 1st time coming here . I have lived on this island for 7 years and never stepped foot ( it is kind of hidden) Whomever was behind the counter tonight , is the reason I will return , time & time again . Fantastic and polite service , extremely welcoming , & extremely rare these days”
“I love this grocery store. They have a huge selection of items. Are they the most affordable grocery store? No. But they have everything you can want and they have a security guard at the door. Some people find that to be comforting (others may find it to be off-putting). If you want a grocery store with plenty of variety, I recommend this one.”

“A big, clean, well organized Safeway in Alameda!!The prices in Safeway have gone up, so download the App for the best deals, the just for you savings are good. In this store, I have always found what I'm looking for rather easily. Also, the fruit in this store seems to be a little fresher than other stores, in my opinion. Or maybe I just come once they have restocked.Located in the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center, there's plenty of parking here, and they also have the Safeway gas station available. One of the few Safeways I actually like shopping in!!”

“I really like the three combo deal they have in the deli department, it comes with two side salads of your choice, also with two pieces of chicken for only nine dollars. Also got to love the digital coupons on the Safeway app, you get major savings, I purchased the ben & Jerry's ice cream, the original price cost $7.99 and with the digital coupon, it only cost me $2.97. Also to mention with the excellent customer I received from the cashier who checked out my groceries, she was the one to help me with the digital coupon, to help save money on the ice cream. She didn't have a name tag on, but on the receipt, it said your cashier was Tangie, definitely shopping here again, it's hard to find a convenient store, that have great workers that provide good customer service and have major deals. This Safeway is must, I will be coming back.”
“Marie has been so kind every time I shop at Safeway at the self-serve line. Whenever I have a question about a price, Marie is always patient and knowledgable about the products. She is personable, professional, and efficient creating a welcoming environment while shopping at Safeway :)) Thanks Marie !”

“Trader Joe's is an old favorite grocery store, if you know, you know, if not, you should definitely check it out, their brand is mindful quality, old school!
Their clerks are always very pleasant, intelligent, and helpful... It's part of the tradition. This store is in a great location, and Safeway is right next door, if you need more stuff!”
