We had the Savoy Club and Grandpa Dave, and both were fresh, generous, and absolutely delicious. What really stood out was the quality of the ingredients. They clearly put a lot of thought into using fresh, wholesome ingredients and carefully sourced meats, and you can taste the difference. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy an incredible sandwich while also feeling good about the quality of what you’re eating. Such a wonderful neighborhood market with great food and genuinely lovely people. We’ll definitely be back! Total gem!”

They have a small parking lot that leads to a bigger one! All the employees were smiley and a couple asked if I needed help! The staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable about products. My only critique would be that the beans in the Turkey Chili they had in stock this week had not been properly cooked. Otherwise its a great store and it is in a superb location with plenty of parking.”

Been stopping by since before and long after high school as I live near by, sad to be finally moving away from this lovely neighborhood. They're a small family run corner store. Help support your local businesses and families, grab a drink and snack if you're nearby and say hi to the lovely people. Mom and pop stores are becoming more and more rare by the year...”

    “It was such a beautiful day in Alameda that we didn’t want to get into our car and go looking for a store to buy fresh fish and vegetables. Wewere new to the neighborhood but we wisely decided to use Google Maps and look to see what was in walking distance. When we read about the Alameda Marketplace, we decided to walk over and explore the different vendors that operate out of their huge retail store. We were reminded of gourmet stores in Berkeley and found the Alameda Marketplace to have an excellent butcher and fish market,Barons! We bought delicious salmon ! While there’s a bakery , Bakesum, on the premises, it’s only open on Friday through Sunday! And we were exploring on a Wednesday! There’s also a cheesery, a florist and other vendors that make the Marketplace a wonderful place to shop, eat and explore. There’s lots of free parking as well as tables and chairs!”

    “I was lucky (!) enough to order a sheet cake for my sister's 80th birthday party last week from the Marina Village store. It came out beautifully! The chocolate cake was quite moist with delicious raspberry inside and yummy white frosting. All at a reasonable price. The very friendly Lucky employee, Trinity, was a big help with the order and the decorator, Latitia, did a superb job decorating, even incorporating a small picture that I wanted! It was a big hit at the party! Many thanks.”

    “A big, clean, well organized Safeway in Alameda!!The prices in Safeway have gone up, so download the App for the best deals, the just for you savings are good. In this store, I have always found what I'm looking for rather easily. Also, the fruit in this store seems to be a little fresher than other stores, in my opinion. Or maybe I just come once they have restocked.Located in the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center, there's plenty of parking here, and they also have the Safeway gas station available. One of the few Safeways I actually like shopping in!!”

    “I really like the three combo deal they have in the deli department, it comes with two side salads of your choice, also with two pieces of chicken for only nine dollars. Also got to love the digital coupons on the Safeway app, you get major savings, I purchased the ben & Jerry's ice cream, the original price cost $7.99 and with the digital coupon, it only cost me $2.97. Also to mention with the excellent customer I received from the cashier who checked out my groceries, she was the one to help me with the digital coupon, to help save money on the ice cream. She didn't have a name tag on, but on the receipt, it said your cashier was Tangie, definitely shopping here again, it's hard to find a convenient store, that have great workers that provide good customer service and have major deals. This Safeway is must, I will be coming back.”

    Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region. The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.

    Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
