“Travelled from DC and stayed in a nearby Airbnb. Mandela was in walking distance of where I was staying. Excellent selection of organic, healthy options with a small array of organic fruits and vegetables. They also have a hot food bar which was a surprise. I love supporting small businesses and this one did not disappoint.”

I remain grateful for Trader Joe’s fair pricing. Their organic milk is 1-3 dollars less than other stores and they also have good egg prices. “For a small grocer it's solid, but if you need less common things or major brands, this isn't the best option. We ended up making a second trip to a larger store to fill out items that they didn't carry.
There was a decent selection of produce, mostly your basic goods.
They also have local goods and some fresh prepped items.
Probably not where I would go as someone from out of town because their selection is limited.”

“Sharif’s is my spot! And has been for as long as I’ve been living in West Oakland. My go to for my morning coffee, paper, drinks, fresh veggies and ice cream..and of course lil here-and-there’s like hot sauce, noodles, air freshener, TP, etc. Whole family who runs it are good folks, and they keep their store stocked and make sure they ask their customers what we need or would like to see them in keep in stock. They recently renovated/expanded the interior, and it looks awesome! Super spacious, more fridges, new slushy machines, and revamped fresh veggie section amongst other nice upgrades. Love these guys. Quintessential neighborhood corner market.”

I often shop at this TJ’s location but I haven’t for many months due to the fact that they were moving shelves and blocking certain area off, especially when you’re in a hurry or only had a few minutes to shop. I had to ask TJ’s employees for help looking for items too.
I was in the area so I stopped by really quick to grabbed an item. At checkout, I asked the cashier if they have the new lavender bag since I didn’t see it and my best friend was looking for one. The cashier said yes and ran to grab one for me. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait in long lines trying to get one!
I would come back if I’m in the area, the cashiers are pretty awesome here. The workers are also helpful and friendly. Great customer services every time I come here. They have a great salad selection and frozen foods. There’s two unisex restrooms and the parking sucks.. lol”

Using sprouts rewards is actually an easy way to get straight up cash back to spend on your groceries, and if you shop sales and use their coupons it’s even better deals. Parking lot experience also way less stress than the competing grocery chains around lake merritt/downtown.”
“My neighborhood store! Best in all of the town, staff is wonderful and they really care bout their customers. Not just alcohol but tons of necessities - comin here you can get the supplies to make yourself breakfast, lunch, and dinner, clean your whole place from top to bottom, and of course get yourself a beverage from a large variety of options.”

“We’re renting an Airbnb in Berkeley and were looking for a local grocery store and discovered the Dover Market on 60th & Dover! While the market is much smaller than a big supermarket, it has the important staples that made us very happy! They also carry Straus dairy products including their wonderful ice cream flavors!”

“Really homey place! Has good latino items from not just Mexican but from different cultures as well. Was able to find Puerto Rican grocery items which was really exciting! Prices aren't bad either.”
“Surprisingly good selection of both decadent and healthy treats 24/7. Nicely arranged, groovy stuff from around the world, with a deli coming soon. Really excellent selection of drinks, juices, etc. Sweet and savory items for all appetites. A stoner paradise. The folks that run the place are kind and helpful and super cool. What's not to love about picking up cereal and milk and chocolate, banaganoush, hinkis and pita bread at 4 am? So very few places in the East Bay are open in the wee hours when you need that very late night banquet. Most excellent on all respects.”

“One of my favorite places in Piedmont. If you like to try new foods then grab a shopping basket and fill it with a variety of tasty treats. I don't think I've ever made a bad choice from sprats to wine and smoked fish to chocolates just go for it.”
“This store is pricey, but it has the out of the ordinary things I search for. The soup and salad bar I s great. The baked goods are excellent. They have Newman's Own juices and a whole aisle of good teas. But, they need electric shopping carts and the aisle are sometimes blocked.”

“Changed ownership, always been a one stop shop. They have everything you need. You can call in orders for food for pickup, Gub Hub , Door Dash etc. Hamburgers, chicken, french fries, cakes, all type of desserts, pies, fish, oysters, okra, chicken sandwiches, barbecue and more. Things to do with your car oil transmission fluid bulbs dapper frozen food section. They have a veggie section, deep freezer section. Thanks for party toys, medicine.”
