The Sandtrap
Avalon Cyn Rd, AvalonThis place is a great spot to eat away from the busier downtown area. The vibes are great as are the happy hour deals. Worth the trip especially if you’re on the way to/from the Wrigley Botanic Gardens.

El Galleon Restaurant & Bar
411 Crescent Ave, AvalonWe had heard that food on the island was not great so we were a bit worried, but after visiting El Galleon, we know that anyone who says that has never visited this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, with top quality, fresh seafood, and beautiful presentation. A highlight was the scallop & clam chowder, only some members of our party ordered it but after everyone tried a bit, the remaining members of our party all ordered their own soups! The service was really fast and attentive, and we got our food brought to us very quickly even though we were a large group and the restaurant was filling up. No wait at all to seat a large group like us either, when other places in the vicinity were telling us up to a 1.5 hr wait. We are so glad we picked this place and we can't wait to go back! We will probably make the ferry trip from Long Beach to Catalina just to return!

Bluewater Avalon
306 Crescent Ave, AvalonBeautiful View, Mixed Experience
We went for dinner, and the restaurant has a stunning view! The servers were friendly and frequently checked in on our food and drinks, which was nice. However, our experience was marred by the lady at the front (a short Mexican woman) who seated us. She led us to a table inside, despite my request to sit outside on the patio for a better view. There were still available tables that we passed by, with no reservations.
When I expressed my desire for an outdoor table, her reaction changed noticeably, which left me feeling uncomfortable.
Am I overthinking this? As Asians, we paid for our meal; we weren’t begging for anything. I still can't believe that in 2026, there are still instances of Asian hate. It feels so racist and disappointing.
Overall, the view and food were great, but the service experience left something to be desired.

The Pancake Cottage
615 Crescent Ave, AvalonBest sit down breakfast spot we tried. Food was delicious! We had a table in the window which was very nice. We are vegetarian and had make-your-own omelettes, a Florentine Benedict, as well as sharing a fresh hot stack of pancakes at the end (best I've had in awhile).

Original Jack's Country Kitchen
118 Catalina Ave, AvalonDelicious Brunch at Original Jack’s Country Kitchen!**
We recently visited Original Jack’s Country Kitchen for brunch, and it was a fantastic experience! The food was not only delicious but also served in generous portions—we could barely finish everything! ?
The staff was fantastic, providing attentive service, and I was thrilled to see decaf coffee available, which is a great option for people like me. The restaurant was clean, and our meals arrived quickly, making the overall experience even better.
I highly recommend Original Jack’s for a delightful brunch!
