Sushi Jawn
Riverside Campground & Cabins, 47020 CA-1, Big SurSushi Jawn is top tier sushi in an unexpected place. If you like sushi and for some reason you are in Big Sur on a Friday or Saturday, you need to check it out. The prices in Big Sur are high in general and this place is no exception, but here you will also get an exceptional meal. For pairing, the nearby camp store conveniently sells sake and beer.

Cottages Grocery Restaurant
47047 CA-1, Big SurReally really lovely spot, Ripewood Cafe is everything I imagined big sur to be and can be - good quality food with a great selection at down-to-earth prices, cozy, cabin atmosphere, and friendly staff. This place really saved my trip, I was starting to feel like I am in LA's west side rather than in the mountains and forest between all the pretentious and exorbitantly priced places around here.
The only issues encountered was one of the (very friendly and helpful) staff members didn't seem to know the difference between milk and cream, likely a language thing, and pretty sure they still put cream in my coffee, so just make sure you ask for confirmation or help from the other staff if you have dietary needs. Also the food - veggie omlette and hash browns was dripping in oil, completely unnecessarily. Definitely not healthy, I've never seen this much oil used in my life. It was so much that I could taste it as an ingredient. Not going to be eating here multiple days in the interest of my heart health - if the chef fixed this, the cafe is a perfect spot.

Big Sur Taphouse
47520 CA-1, Big SurWe celebrated the opening of Highway One through Big Sur by driving up from Malibu to Santa Cruz on an absolutely perfect winter day.
We wanted to watch the Rams/Seahawks game. Nepentge doesn't have TV so we pulled into Big Sur Tap House just before kickoff.
We comforted ourselves with comfort food. A nice plate of nachos and some chicken bites or whenever you call them.
Tenders. I was with German Tim, so he drank beer and he gave it the thumbs up
It was a nice crowd. And there's a crew of smoky rascals there who remind me of growing up in Santa Cruz in the seventies if you know what I mean.
Big Sur Road was spectacular driving up and even more so, driving back: The hills were as green as Ireland, the sunlight was golden, the sky was blue, the water was Carribean clear and there were whales spouting.
We stopped at the gift shop to buy some stickers and they have a good deli there.
If I had any friends, I would tell them, but I don't so I'm telling you.

Big Sur Roadhouse
47080 CA-1, Big SurThe Big Sur Roadhouse was a fabulous breakfast treat! I was warmly greeted as I walked in, they explained the process for ordering. I had a cozy seat by the fireplace overlooking the garden. I observed a hummingbird in the tree and several.Stellar Jay's, one playing in the water fountain. From the lovely ambience to the best French toast I have had, and I love breakfast. It is a place worth stopping at and across the road is a grocery to stock your supplies. If I ever make it back to the area, will definitely be stopping again.

The Sur House
48123 CA-1, Big SurWe celebrated my birthday dinner at Sur House at Alila and it was an amazing experience. The food was incredible, especially the pork chop — perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
What truly made the night special was our server, Juan. He was warm, attentive, and made the entire dinner feel extra special and memorable. His service really elevated the whole experience.
Beautiful views, fantastic food, and outstanding service. Highly recommend!
