48865 CA-1, Big SurA total gem in the Big Sur area. We dropped by for breakfast with our pup on the beautiful outdoor patio and it was our favorite meal of our trip.
The chilaquiles, breakfast burrito, and French toast all exceeded our expectations and the service couldn’t have been better.
They let us order a half portion of their famous French toast to share and it was perfect.
If you’re just looking for a cup of coffee, they have a drip coffee stand outside of the restaurant selling coffee for only $1 (cash only).
We’ll definitely be back!

If you like sushi and for some reason you are in Big Sur on a Friday or Saturday, you need to check it out. The prices in Big Sur are high in general and this place is no exception, but here you will also get an exceptional meal. For pairing, the nearby camp store conveniently sells sake and beer.

We stopped at Nepenthe our way back from exploring Big Sur (Note **the pictures posted are of the Big Sur area which is very close to this restaurant, they are not of the view you get from the restaurant balcony). The views from the balcony was gorgeous and the food was delicious! The seats are very comfortable and the staff is amazing and friendly. The decor is nice at this restaurant, especially the gaint fireplace in the center was i thought was very elegant and unique statement piece. Which is also nice to have since the restaurant is on the coast and can get quite cold. In addition there are heat lamps outside as well in the balcony area.

The Village, Big Sur
46840 CA-1, Big SurCoffee is good, pastries are excellent, service is perfect. Enough seating outside to enjoy the quietness of the place and the beauty of Big Sur. A little lawn area by the river is the great spot when the sun is out.
The chef is regularly trying new recipes of pastries. Recently, their ham&cheese croissant or the breakfast sandwich are a true hit!

The hostesses greeted us with warmth and kindness, setting the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful evening. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and struck the perfect balance of being available without ever making us feel rushed. The service was exceptional from start to finish. One thing we especially appreciated was that our server let us taste a few wines before we ordered our glasses. We ended up finding one we absolutely loved, and it made the experience feel even more personalized. Every detail felt thoughtful, from the refreshing palate cleanser between courses to ending the evening with the s'mores bar, which was such a fun and memorable touch. The food was excellent overall. The chicken dish and steak were both cooked to perfection and were absolute highlights of the meal. The only reason I didn't give the food a perfect score was because the salad could have used a bit more dressing and toppings, and the pasta was slightly dry. Those were minor critiques in an otherwise outstanding meal. What truly sets The Sur House apart is the hospitality. Every interaction with the staff made us feel valued, and it's clear the team genuinely cares about creating a memorable experience. Between the breathtaking setting, exceptional service, delicious food, and thoughtful finishing touches, this was an unforgettable evening. We can't wait to come back.
