“My 2018 Hyundai Sonata began to shake while driving so I called Mike. As always, he was friendly and accommodating and allowed me to bring the car right in although I suspect he was pretty backed up at the moment I called.Mike and his team gave stellar service as always. Something I really appreciate is that Mike calls me every step of the way and explains exactly where we're at in the repair process and details all of the various options I have. It's evident through his actions that Mike always acts with his mind on the financial impact of every potential action during the repair process and does everything he can to save my wife and I money. I was also grateful that he provided me photos of all he did throughout the repair and was patient enough to bear with me through detailed explanations of technical automotive functions of which I have minimal knowledge if any and never talked down to me but took the time to make sure I understood what he was saying.It turned out that my car was shaking due to carbon buildup in the engine (a common issue in GDI engines like the one in my 2018 Sonata). The exhaust and intake manifold had to be dissected so that the carbon could be cleaned, and I elected to also receive a valve job to ensure maximum efficiency and longevity. Mike and his team changed the oil and even washed my car before giving it back to me and I can tell you it was not the shop's fault my car was dirty, I brought it in that way. “I needed a back windshield repair the next day and they were able to squeeze me in the following morning. Someone emailed me right away during off hours. Thomas was cool, very friendly, and nice. He finished the repair quickly in an hour. He cleaned up very well and provided great instructions of how to take care of the windshield post installation. The final quote was cheaper than the bigger named companies. I recommend them if you need any windshield repairs.”

“This was my first visit to Fred's Wrenchouse, and I had a great experience. My repair could have cost more than it did, but they simply did what was necessary to make my car both driveable and aesthetically pleasing and I was on my way a few hours later. This process was made easier because after I dropped my car off in the morning, I was able to go around the corner to Pete's coffee and worked there for 4-4.5 hours on my laptop, and my car was ready to be picked up before 2 PM. Clearly, with all their high ratings here on Yelp, this business doesn't need another one, but I think it's important to keep reviewing so that new customers know they are still doing quality work, in a reasonable amount of time, for a fair market price, and not doing more/charging more if it isn't needed. I had the repair completed the first few days of October 2023, and 6 weeks later it's still feeling solid and my car drives so much more smoothly after the fact.”

“Jose and the team are honest, helpful mechanics. I was quoted over $900 to fix an engine sensor in my Volvo. The wait time was about 2 weeks. Metric Motors replaced the sensor with a Volvo factory piece for $300. Even better, the repair was done in one day. I've brought my car back multiple times and always receive great service. Jose is always reachable by text and can usually get you in within a day or two. Highly highly recommend!”

“I've driven past this shop 1000 times, and when my college age kids come back for Thanksgiving , they always tell me that the cars need an oil change or a smog or something, and I have to scramble to meet their schedules and mine. So these guys were super friendly and super reasonable, and the smog was completed before I realized, even though there were a few people ahead of me when I got there originally, the smog went super quick. I'm definitely not going anywhere else for smog again. I also made an appointment to have them service my son's Hyundai early next week as well. I tried to call the Hyundai dealer for an appointment since the car has a 100,000 mile warranty in case they find anything wrong but they don't even answer their phone. For maintenance things, I'd rather not pay the dealer prices anyway, so I'll follow up on how the service goes since I'm bringing in the car for the first time, but I'm hopeful I found my go-to mechanic shop. (Just moved to San Bruno three years ago and know how important a good mechanic shop is, and they are hard to find, so fingers crossed!)”

I’m a collector with a good size collection of classic aircooled and modern post 996 Porsches. I also have a Mercedes G500. I’ve been taking my cars to Jimmy for 15 years. Hands down you will be treated like family and your car will be serviced like he services his own cars. I was continually informed about the status of my car which was totaled in the accident. They coordinated with the insurance also. Interesting thing was that after accident the car could not be charged, hence could not be opened. Alex and his team knew of technicalities, jump started the battery so the doors opened. “Took my 2017 Mazda6 here after I had random instances of my car not responding to acceleration. Putnam Mazda gave me a $1000 service quote for spark plug replacement + fuel intake system cleaning without even opening the hood. Gibson at Automotive City drove the car, took a look under the hood and said he didn't find any obvious issues. Since the issue happened randomly, he just asked me to bring it in the next time it does happen. For now, he just did an oil change + tire rotation and charged a very reasonable price. He was straightforward throughout and answered all my questions patiently. I don't know if my acceleration issues are solved, but at least Gibson was honest about what he found and what he could do.
