Pet Stores & Supplies

Kibbles 'n Gifts
80 Cabrillo Hwy N B, Half Moon BayGenerally good selection of pet food, toys, and accessories. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only reason that I'm giving them 4 stars is because their website indicated they had a product, but it wasn't available when I arrived at the store. I suggest you call ahead to confirm if you want to order online or are using their website to check for products.

Pet Sitting & Training

hmbdoghouse
518 Spindrift Way, Half Moon BayBoarded my dog for a weekend. Went well overall. Received pictures daily. No problems with her stay. Only minor issue was when we first met, he offered my dog a treat to befriend her without asking me first if the treat was ok (which it was, but there may be some dogs that can't eat certain foods or maybe owners who only prefer to use them in certain circumstances - always best to check first).

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Jettywave Distillery
155 Broadway, Half Moon BayJettywave Distillery was such a great find tucked away by the pier. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, with live music that made the whole experience even better. Their nonalcoholic mixed drinks were absolutely fabulous, and the Asian salad was hands down the best thing I’ve eaten since being in California. Cool vibe, great food, and a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the area.

Hop Dogma Brewing Co.
270 Capistrano Rd #22, Half Moon BayWe hosted an event at Hop Dogma and had the BEST experience. Ethan was incredible to work with - he was prompt with his communication and made sure our event went smoothly. This was the perfect event space. The bartenders were incredible & we got so many compliments on the space & drinks.

Dawn Patrol Coffee
155 Broadway, Half Moon BayWhen in HMB and you want a caffeine fix, stop by this local gem! Greeted with a warm smile, and a friendly voice immediately. Ordered a Hot White Mocha, and a Hot Caramel Macchiato both were very hot, and tasted delicious. Tried the Breakfast Cookie made by a local bakery, recommended from the local customer in front of me it was better than an oatmeal cookie it was a 10/10 , and the Hummingbird Bread very moist and tasty 10/10.

Cafe Capistrano
523 Church St, Half Moon BayCharming restaurant in a home with indoor and outdoor seating. The pumpkin seed dip with house made chips was new to us and quickly became a new favorite. The cochinita phibil (slow roasted pork) melted in your mouth. I assembled the tortillas with guacamole, pork, pickled onion, tomato, pineapple, and topped them off with xni pec hot sauce. They were incredible. The rice was moist and flavorful, and the slaw was light and fresh. The grilled veggies for the fahitas were herbaceous. We had a great experience and plan to come back.
We did!
Our second night was a lighter dinner. We shared the Mexican chowder. It has a tomato and vegetable base, much like minestrone with vegetables and seafood. Good flavor, great choice. The chichen panuchos were also good and benefitted from some hot sauce. These were good but the cochinita phibil was better. I also prefer a soft tortilla over a fried torta, so that difference is on me. We had the queso Napolitano for dessert: it is an eggy cheesecake like tort with cinnamon and a thin caramel yielding a flan flavor. We liked that it was not as rich and heavy as a regular flan.

Johnny’s Half Moon Bay
547 Main St, Half Moon BayI've been to this location twice now (although I just heard they opened a new spot in my area, in San Mateo).
The food here is solid and servings sizes are fairly large! So far the only thing I didn't like were the potatoes served with the short rib benny. They are cooked very well (crunchy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside). By virtue of the type of potatoes it's not very well seasoned, maybe some cheese would improve it ? (Who am I kidding, cheese would def improve it!) Otherwise everything else is 5 stars !
Service is always friendly and I haven't had to wait for a table (although I've always visited on a Friday morning so I guessing weekends would be busier).
Can't wait to try their new location.

Pilot Light
9850 Cabrillo Hwy, Half Moon BayIf you have curious little monkeys at home this is the best place for a Sunday morning brunch.
There are planes landing and taking off and the outside and inside seating is comfortable and has plenty of space. The food is well prepared and has a good variety of favorites. There are also adult drinks if you are looking for a mimosa or a lager while you eat.
We had the waffles a hamburger and drinks for 40 bucks at a great place just a short drive from Mavericks and Princeton pier. This is a bargain.

Dad's Luncheonette
225 Cabrillo Highway South at, Kelly Ave, Half Moon BayFood was good but not legendary. We liked the crispy rice on the Mac n cheese but not blown away. 10 minute wait for food on a Sunday at noon, so not too bad! The Story of this luncheonette is cute, and the kitchen is built right into the historic caboose. The mushroom burger looked better than our hamburgers.

Ketch Harbor Pub
17 Johnson Pier, Half Moon BayThe fish and chip were good and the calamari was also good. The margaritas could be in a big glass. The music was excellent, the guy in the front playing his guitar and singing was hella cool! He did a great performance.
