631 Broadway, MillbraeS/O to the staff who knew exactly what to get when I walked in with my newly adopted guinea pig from the PHS & SPCA. Such accommodating staff because they beat me to asking for disabled assistance carrying my purchases to my vehicle. And I got a 20% discount!

Pet Care

Millbrae Pet Hospital
128 Park Pl, MillbraeJoe and Jenny are very understanding of my dog’s extreme anxiety around nail trims. They talked to me about my options and gave supportive suggestions as well as listening to my suggestions. I can tell they care a lot about my pup despite how uniquely difficult she can be. Their level of experience gives me hope for Cricket.

One Piece Sushi
108 Park Pl, MillbraeThis unassuming little place was the third place we tried to eat at after 10:30. The first was a bar, the second only served hookah for the last couple of hours, and this one, finally, had food--though please be aware that at this time of night, it is udon, not sushi. That said, the two people we interacted with were both friendly and efficient, the Karaage and udon were tasty and nourishing, and at great prices for the Bay Area, and although they don't lean hard into the theme, there is some cool One Piece art on the walls. Thank you! Just what we needed!!

New Broadway Bistro
349 Broadway, MillbraeThis is a classic Hong Kong style cafe or “tea restaurant” (茶餐廳), a relative unique style of Chinese cuisine invented in Hong Kong by fusing western cafe and Chinese style cooking. If you ever want to find such an eatery in the San Francisco Bay Area without flying 8000 miles to Hong Kong, this is your place. The food, and especially the service are absolutely top notch. Perhaps even more precious is the community vibe the restaurant staff manage to create. From the moment you step into the restaurant to the moment you leave you will meet authentically courteous, efficient and caring service from Selena, Sunny, and others. The combination of a family restaurant and high quality cooking plus pleasant ambience will likely make this restaurant a highly desirable gathering place going forward for local residents, as well as visitors from afar, for the unique east-meet-west Hong Kong tea restaurant experience. A remarkable place for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner.

Sidewalk Juice Millbrae
525 Broadway, MillbraeWe walked in a little after 6 without realizing they had already closed — total facepalm moment. The owner was counting the register and clearly wrapping up for the night, and we felt awful. But instead of turning us away, he kindly took our order and made us feel completely welcome.
You could tell he was ready to go home, yet he still treated us with so much warmth and patience. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare. We’ll definitely be back — and next time, we promise to check the hours first.

Special Hainan Chicken (Millbrae)
9 Hillcrest Blvd, MillbraeThis place is similar to the one in Cupertino. Their menu is exactly the same. The Cupertino location is much bigger and don't feel as cramp. Seating in Cupertino location is definitely more spacious.
In this location, since it's smaller, the tables are very close to each other. You can hear next table's conversation. There is no privacy. Be careful what you say during meal.
The Chiu Chow Duck, Hainan Chicken, the noodle soup and Brined Tofu dishes taste exactly the same as the Cupertino location.
Both the Chiu Chow Duck and the Hainan Chicken are their signature dishes. They are both excellent and are must-haves.
The Brined Tofu is good too. Outside is crunchy and inside is soft. Recommend eating this as soon as it comes to your table, or outside crunchy skin becomes soggy.
One interesting difference is this location has Braised Pork Knuckle in the menu while this dish isn't available in Cupertino. We tried it and it's excellent. The pork knuckles are tender and flavorful.
The Wood Ear Mushroom salad is very disappointing. It's almost tasteless and the flavor is super weak. The one in Cupertino taste much better with stronger flavor.
Despite we came for late dinner, we had to wait a little bit for a table. Once you are seated and after food is ordered, food came out fast.
