Pet Sitting & Training
Anna's Tail Walkers & Sitters
100 Maple St, HollisterWe did a destination wedding and decided less than 2 weeks before that we needed someone to come and check on our 4 cats twice a day. Anna and Joel were able to work with our extremely short timeline. They made time on our schedule to come meet us and the cats. Anna took notes on all the cats, their feeding schedules, and how we wanted everything done. They even offered to check the mail, bring in packages and handle trash bins if needed. While we were away they provided photos of the cats in the morning and evening. They also took time to give our very shy cats treats and Joel even got out most shy cat to come out from under the bed. When we returned they had left a couple kitty toys dressed up as a bride and groom with a congratulations card. Absolutely recommend them for your pet sitting needs. They are very professional, kind and clearly have a passion for animals.

Cali Pals Doodles and Service Dogs
85 Spring Grove Rd, HollisterSuch a wonderful soulful experience from start to finish! The family involved in breeding are amazing, they made it such a great process. We selected our pup and she was to become our daughters service dog for ASD. They really do raise the most amazing sweet gentle kind pups and we actually did the started puppy programme and when she came home to us we just needed to stay on top of it all and continue building her skill sets.I have seen many of the pups that have been part of the training and some even going on to the sheriffs dept and working there. These dogs are so well bred and trained you won’t believe it.I would not change a thing about the experience other than taking two home . ;-)

Calera Wine Company
11300 Cienega Rd, HollisterWe have been members at Calera winery since 2014 and their wine is consistently our top choice! They are world-renowned for their Pinots, but their Rose and Chardonnay are just as exquisite. We drove up to Hollister to get away from the stormy weather in San Jose, and we were lucky to hit a break in the rain and enjoy an awesome wine tasting thanks to the hospitality of the staff. The minerality and crispness of the wines is unparallel. We had a great time and took home a Jensen and a Chalone. The tasting room has undergone a facelift and is sporting a variety of tables and even a cozy private room, in addition to plentiful outdoor seating with unbelievable views of the valley and the mountains. A beautiful day out in the country!

Running Rooster
800 San Benito St, HollisterMy daughter treated me to a birthday dinner at Running Rooster. It is located in downtown Hollister. The restaurant has ample seating and a nice bar. Parking is somewhat limited, but there is generally street parking available.I started off with a glass of DeRose Parróne Blend. We ordered two appetizers: Chips & Dips from the standard menu and Lobster Mac from their special menu. The Chips and Dips came with salsa roja, salsa verde, and your choice of queso dip or guacamole. We opted for the queso dip. The appetizer was good, especially the queso. The salsa roja had a thick, somewhat creamy texture. It wasn't bad, just not the kind of salsa I was expecting. The Lobster Mac was pretty good as well. It consisted of the usual cheesy macaroni noodles, but had plenty of lobster chunks and small, stemmed mushrooms (maybe beech mushrooms?). The whole dish was topped with baked, crusted cheese and piping hot.For my meal, I ordered the Cowboy Burger and upgraded to Garlic Fries. The burger had a great flavor, but the patty wasn't as juicy as I would have liked. It may have been slightly overcooked. The burger toppings included the usual lettuce, tomato and pickles, but also pepper jack cheese, bacon, one large onion ring, and "yeehaw" sauce. All in all, a flavorful burger. My daughter ordered the Mushroom Burger with the onion rings upgrade. She too had the same experience as I did with my burger because her patty was also a bit too dry/overcooked.We ordered a shared dessert, the cheesecake, and opted for a lemon topping. The cheesecake was very good and the topping was the right amount of sweet and tangy. Our server was attentive but not intrusive and she was very pleasant. I like the ambiance of Running Rooster. I do feel the burgers could have been a bit more juicy, but really, the food was good and we'll be going back. Recommended!

Casa de Sweets
9830 Pacheco Pass Hwy, HollisterCool little dessert shop to stop in! Ice cream was I think $4.50 for 1 scoop! And $2 and additional. I must be old cause that seems pricey! And they didn't even have every flavor stocked! Coffee was just basic. Not really high quality. The staff were all polite and very helpful! The pre packaged sweets were delicious! But again a lil pricey. All the novelty stuff inside was actually cool! Big variety of cool things, nothing generic! We got on the train ride and my little kids liked it. They also got the lil mining package which they liked doing all on there own. Overall I think we'd come back to spend a few hours here and now knowing what's what.
