12955 Monterey Road, San MartinHave been coming here for a couple years now since my dog was a puppy and his eye got scratched bad. I had been calling many different vets within the area as a Hollister resident that day and the VCA in San Martin was the only one that squeezed him for the emergency. Immediately loved the staff here. Currently having concerns for my dog now, stressful situation, and booked the soonest appointment through the app which wasn’t for nearly another week later. The staff called me just a few minutes after I had booked it as they were concerned about the details I left for the appointment, and offered to change the appointment to the next business day Monday (it’s the weekend) to make sure he is cared for as soon as possible. I am so thankful and trust this staff so much. They’re the best.

A Poochs Paradise
13505 Murphy Avenue, San MartinI have a high energy working dog. She's a Shepard/heeler mix. For a few months I was dealing with an injury and I couldn't take my dog for a walks or to the dog park to burn off that energy. So I started bringing her here to pooches Paradise. At our initial evaluation I met with Laura. My dog was very scared because it was a new environment her tail was tucked the whole entire time she wouldn't even go into the building. Laura identified that my dog was scared and so we spoke outside for a few minutes about my dog. After our conversation we tried again and this time my dog walked into the office. I started taking my dog here once a week and has been about a month now. I was a bit worried on how my dog would react to new people/strangers but Laura and her team have been really great with her. Now every time I drop her off she gets extremely excited when she recognizes the street of the daycare. Whenever I pick her up and come home she's extremely exhausted.

Each of them played a role in helping me find stability, strength, and hope again. Their commitment to their mission is unmatched, and the impact they have on veterans and individuals with unseen injuries is profound.

County of Santa Clara Animal Services
12425 Monterey Road, San MartinFour stars for the staff in San Martin. Helpful staff serving with grace. I suggest, if you’re looking for that purrfect pet, you speak with staff and learn the process. It may take you multiple visits to find the dog/cat that’s right for you. There are three dorms for dogs (don’t know about cats). Enter a dorm, visit the dogs, read their bio and determine whether they’re adoptable, stray-hold or on-hold. As I recall, strays are kept for five days before behavior assessed, medically checked and offered for adoption. If there’s a stray-hold, you can put your name down and if the animal is available after the required time, you have a chance to adopt ‘em. IMO, give the older dogs a chance. They’re mature and you can experience the type of personality/drive and demeanor in they have before adoption. I visited San Martin shelter which was quite large and fairly clean. I imagine with the county deficit being the way it is, monies slotted toward animal services can be hard to come by. I’ve also visited Monterey County Animal Services and the positive contrast toward facilities maintenance, the grounds overall and staff were a win for Monterey.
