  8. Target - 9500 Gilman Drive

9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla CA 92093

    2.9 Average 103 reviews

“This place only has bad reviews because people look up directions to the nearest Target, not realizing this is a special small target (similar to a CVS in selection) which is placed right in the middle of an enormous college campus (where parking is a fortune and nowhere close to the store). For its target audience - people already on the UCSD campus who don't want to leave campus to get basic groceries - this place is awesome. As someone who lived on campus before the Target, it is hard to describe to recent students how much of a life changer the addition of this store was. Beyond it's mere presence, it genuinely seems to be managed quite well. I rarely see items out of stock, lines at the checkout (which can wrap around the store during busy passing periods) go fast, and the selection of stuff is well chosen for the limited space available.”
