“Our room was clean, the check-in was smooth, the staff was friendly and we were walking distance to many restaurants and the beach. The parking was tight with very little spots but we were luckily able to get a parking spot every time. We will be staying here again in the future.”

“It's one of the best hotels in La jolla. It has breakfast included and the food is delicious. If you get hungry, go down to the lobby where you can find a small snack shop. Also, it is conveniently located within 5 min walk to the beach.”
“I have to say we were impressed at check in. Quiet property, spacious one bedroom suite that feels like an apartment with a full kitchen.

“The first floor rooms are terrible because the ceiling to floor windows open out onto the parking lot. One has to keep the black out curtains drawn for privacy so the rooms have no natural light.”

“Great location and cute historic property. The rooms do need a bit of updating but hope they stay true to the historic vibe. The room was huge! No complaints in size, however room 410 was right next door to the laundry which runs at all hours of the day. It wasn’t too awful but it also wasn’t great to hear all the time. My bed over was awful, it was horribly uncomfortable and lumpy. I was “rolling uphill” every time I moved. I had a horrible back ache for my entire trip. Luckily my neighbor was quiet but on my last day new guests had checked in and I could hear everything.
The on site dining was unexpectedly closed one day which meant that I had to scramble to find breakfast one morning so that was a bummer.
The resort fee, as others have mentioned, was a bit of a shock.”

“Scripps Inn is in La Jolla / San Diego and right across the street from the beach. The building is a little older but our room was very nice with a comfortable bed, nice kitchen, dining room & living room. The inn offer plenty of parking with combined front and back parking. And if you know anything about La Jolla in the summer, you're lucky to get a good parking spot. The one small complaing I have is that there are trees obstructing the best views of the ocean. The rooms are dog friendly too. Lots of sights to see up and down the coast that I will show in some of the photos.”

“I went there for an interview. They have 2 locations right next to each other. They have options for travelers and residents. It looks very well maintained. Very nice views. Parking seems ok. Easy to find.”

“We got lucky on an almost 50% discounted price - this hotel would normally be way out of our price range. We skipped the $42 overnight parking and parked on an adjacent street. The hotel advertised ocean views, but there were none from the third floor - however what we did get from the third floor is incredible views of hummingbirds in the trees; loved it. I’ve seen other reviews about the elevators; as of our stay July 2025, only one of the two elevators was working and it was very slow. We were able to take the stairs, but if your party has any mobility issues or if you’re on a higher floor, this could be a big problem. We lucked into a corner room with two balconies; could not have been happier to enjoy the ocean breeze. Loved the room: soft mattress, lighting, and shower. Just a heads up that the street noise was substantial; I would recommend bringing earplugs if you want to sleep in. Not sure what was up on the street, but it sounded like construction and/or sanitation trucks off and on from about 6:30am until we checked out around 9am (the sliding glass balcony doors were closed). Loved that we could walk down to the beach and restaurants.”

“The Pasadena craftsman architecture of Greene and Greene appears in accurate beauty throughout the Lodge, from guest rooms to hallways and lounges. The cuisine at A.R. Valentiens is wonderful, definitely a 5-star restaurant with beautiful settings for dining. The staff is cordial, efficient, and always remember us from previous visits. This is still our favorite lodge in the USA.”
