“I was desperately trying to find somebody to re-cane a beautiful mid century chair that my cats had torn to shreds. I searched high and low, and couldn't find anyone to fix it, until a vintage shop in Atwater recommended this place. I am so excited and happy that they did. I brought my chair in and they gave me a very reasonable estimate. The owner and the people that work there are very friendly, but more importantly, they do amazing work. My chair looks absolutely stunning! It looks exactly like it looked before my cats got to it. This place is amazing!”

“I've been visiting Salvare for several years now, and it's hands down my favorite home furnishing store in SoCal. We've picked up many bigger (e.g., coffee table, chair) and smaller (e.g., pillows, ceramics) pieces, and there's always something fun and new to see in the shop. Prices are super fair, especially in LA. Selena, the owner, not only has fantastic taste, but is incredibly nice. Highly recommended!”

“David and Alma are superb sales reps and buyers. Alma has been working there longer than David and knows the business better and David is the owner! The selection of high end rugs from Turkey, India, Morocco and Iran are simply gorgeous. We had a wonderful finding the right rug for us. Can't wait to go back and show some photos of our rug in our home!”

“Great shop! Very personable and friendly team! They have great antiques from jewelry to fashion. We saw a bride trying on a dress from the 70's that left us speechless. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind treasure then welcome home.”

“After Necromance, sadly, closed their brick and mortar shop, there was a brief period in time where their combination of taxidermy and Victoriana was no where to be seen. I'm a big fan of Gold Bug in Pasadena, but they are not quite as "dark" in their aesthetic. Memento Mori, on the other hand, feels like a pretty good replacement. So, what are you going to find here? Well, as you may have guessed from my intro, taxidermy. The classic boars and deer heads preserved as wall ornaments...but also delicate butterflies beautifully arranged under glass domes. While no where near as extensive a collection of preserved animal parts as Necromance, there still is a decent collection, particularly for decor. Memento Mori also lacks the strong mothball smell that permeated the aforementioned store. There is a large collection of silver jewelry incorporating classic taxidermy elements, such as glass eyes. And lots of trinkets for those of a "gothic" aesthetic. They also carry a number of very comfortable tshirts bearing variations of their logo, one of which currently hangs in my closet. Memento Mori also appears to serve as a gothic community center: they always have flyers and posters advertising events such as Endless Night, a vampire-themed ball, or gothic-themed fairs for artisans. So, definitely worth a visit if your aesthetics or predilections lean to the darker side of life.”

“Service was excellent. Owner and his assistant were very helpful in educating us on various gold pieces, bracelets, pendants and necklaces. Also provided us with estimated value of some long-held jewelry pieces we brought in. I remember coming to this jewelry store when I was a young child with my parents, shopping for jewelry.”

“Walking through the crowded aisles is like walking through that warehouse at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Whether or not you are looking for something in particular, you will find something here... Actually you will find many "somethings" as this place is a cornucopia of interesting items. Mid-century modern furniture seems to be in abundance, but turn of the century cuckoo clocks, lamps, and pretty much anything else you can imagine are yours to find; Just make sure you have a few hours to actually go through the isles, this is not a place for a cursory review. Staff is great. As for value... what is the value of a treasure?”

“Hunter Gatherer is a remarkable vintage gem on Washington Boulevard. Here you can find everything from jewelry, books, furniture, textiles, trinkets and more... the perfect spot to find fixtures for a bohemian space or rare and unique gifts for friends. Carla, the owner, has a strong knowledge and passion for researching vintage pieces, as well as recognizing their origin and value. I particularly love the beautiful kimonos she finds and sells here; the fabrics are bright with interesting textures, perfect for festivals, costuming, or just styling one-of-a-kind outfits. If you have a passion for vintage, don't skip out on this Mid City gem.”

“Super cool flea market! Definitely more of a fun trendy vibe with unique vendors and you wouldn't find at a traditional flea market. I'd compare it to a smaller rose bowl flea market..”

“I've been going to this spot to thrift for years and I gotta say that even when i don't find what I'm looking for originally, I still end up finding something I wasn't looking for at a good bargain and just as cool. You get to know the owners for a while little by little, their respect and service keeps getting exceptional. If you know how to thrift, you know there are successes and misses, but Son of a Vet is still a fun place to find whatever attracts your interest and amusement.”

“So glad we found this place. Got in town early for a Lakers game and had time to kill. Other Yelpers mentioned the ceiling tile mirrors and we found a cool one. They gave us a decent price and helped us load.”

“My favorite place for unique finds. I've been to other flea markets but they are always too vintage for me. Melrose tends to have more reworked vintage which is what I really tend to look for. I love it here.”

“The COOLEST place in L.A. to see movie and television memorabilia! First of all, it’s amazing they even let you in the door and casually walk around this gigantic warehouse full to the brim with props from television and movie history. All is for rent, nothing is for sale, but prepare to have the time of your life just walking around and taking it all in! Wow! So much fun!”

“This is an LA hidden gem, you can find some very interesting vintage items, from a 1920s 18mm projector, to silver or gold vintage jewelry, there is something for everyone, and the prices are fair for what you get. And do add to it the lady that works there is just lovely, great spirits which are not very common at thrift shops.”

“I recently lost my grandmother's original vintage heirloom ring and was very heartbroken. A friend told me about Neil Lane's collection of vintage jewelry. I was very surprised to find a very big selection of vintage ring from last century that reminded me my grandmother's ring! I ended up buying a ring that was very similar (but with a bigger diamond... LOL). Sally & Liz were very helpful and even gave me a nice jewelry cleaner that comes very handy with older jewelry. I even got to meet Neil himself right before I left. Absolutely love this place!”

“WOW is all I can say, honestly! We just had the most delightful experience with Julie. We went in to see about a vintage gold band for my fiancé and we really lucked out. Julie is SO knowledgeable! She took her time with us and allowed us to ask a million questions not only about the vintage cigar bands but also about all the jewelry (they have a massive selection). The resizing was included which was awesome, too. We had such a warm and inviting experience, especially compared to another estate jewelry shop we had visited earlier that day (name redacted). Thanks, Julie! Can't wait to send my fiancé here for all my anniversary presents ;)”

“Kwak did a really incredible job restoring my antique victorian chair and loveseat! He completely took them apart and repaired them so precisely and skillfully. He is very detail oriented and I don’t believe anyone else could have repaired them so well and for such a fair price. The craftsmanship is beautiful. He reupholstered and repaired the furniture. He and his wife are very nice, kind and honest people. Such a pleasure to work with them.”

“My dog was spooked by jet noise and pulled down the large Kutani vase along with the pedestal on which it was displayed.I bought it in Japan while stationed there. I was heart broken since it had sentimental value and matched a couple of other pieces I own. The vase’s lip was broken. Fortunately I gathered the pieces and looked for a restorer and found Brooke’s. Very few people do this work. They worked with me to get an estimate and I sent it to them. They take their time to really do it right. Long story short, the vase looks like it never was damaged. I doubt anyone could tell including a professional appraiser. They are the best! I cannot recommend them more highly. I hope I don’t need them again, but if I do they will have my trust and my business.”

“I love this place. The first time they fixed my lamp it was pretty pricey because they had to pretty much rebuild it, and they made it more sturdy. And that also meant that this more recent time I brought it in to fix it (my fault) it was SUPER CHEAP because it was their parts so they had replacements. He fixed it right on the spot out back. We had very nice, light conversation while he fixed it. I will always take my business here. I appreciate this place so much! Otherwise I would have had to replace my beautiful lamp instead of repairing it over time.”

“We brought in a heavily-tarnished Christofle Vertigo 3-Part Server that had been left outside for probably a year. Needless to say it was in desperate need of some professional TLC (or, in this case, CPR!) . Well, our guy Pablo took one look at it and said with supreme confidence that it would be ready in a week. Sure enough, one week later- presto-whamo- the piece looks as good as new. This shoebox-sized establishment has been in business since the early 60's and you can easily miss it as it's located on a busy intersection (Third & FFX) across the street from Trader Joes, but it's well worth seeking out. Heartily recommended.”

“Amazing vintage clothing in pristine condition for the serious collector. This collection of clothing has been meticulously curated with love and care. The only store I know of in Los Angeles that has such an abundant collection of unusual and special pieces for men. High end Americana. An amazing array of the oldest and finest Hawaiian shorts I have ever seen in one place. Not for the faint of heart. Be prepared to pay the price for what is without a doubt the finest men's vintage clothing available on Earth....”
