Toulouse Vineyards & Winery
8001 CA-128, PhiloMy girlfriend and I stopped by Toulouse on our way home from a somewhat underwhelming trip to Fort Bragg. We'd never been wine tasting here before, but a coworker recommended we check it out on the drive back—and we're really glad we did.
As we were pulling in, a friendly gentleman arrived at the same time and pointed us to the best place to park. After we parked, we struck up a conversation. I noticed his 2005 Ram 2500 with the 5.9L Cummins and a manual transmission, which I'm a big fan of, and it turned out he was the owner. He was incredibly down-to-earth and, later on, helped us pick out a few excellent Pinots to bring home.
The staff who got us set up with our tasting were fantastic as well. They walked us through each wine, answered our questions, and even treated us to a few extra pours. They also provided some snacks during the tasting, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated.
Another big plus is that Toulouse is dog-friendly. We were able to bring our pup into the tasting room and out onto the back patio. I'm honestly not sure who had more fun—my girlfriend or the dog!
Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

Scharffenberger Cellars
8501 CA-128, PhiloOne of best tasting rooms I’ve ever visited. Aside from really good sparkling wines (there are many here), the fun staff and lovely setting are fabulous. Check out the (free) memberships, where in addition to covering your tasting (up to 4 people) you get 20% off case of 6 + only $20 shipping (mine went to NY). Plus retail prices here 50% lower than in local grocery stores. Membership covers Roederer also, so if you’re in the area tasting this is a must visit.

Goldeneye
9200 CA-128, PhiloWe were heading back from spearfishing Albion coast to head home and had to stop at one winery minimum. Goldeneye was definitely worth the stop! Every sip of our tasting wines was absolutely incredible. They really know their craft when it comes to pilot noir. The grounds are breathtaking and so relaxing. And the service was top notch. Thank you Dani for providing incredible service. It was so great to chat with you!
Also, I think they are dog friendly because I saw a water bowl for fur babies. 😉

Roederer Estate
4501 CA-128, PhiloWow. Again Roederer delivered...and no, I wasn't double fisting...Comparing the brut to it's magnum counterpart thank you very much! A beautiful setting to celebrate the retirement of a close friend. Although the service was slow, the view, champagne and company made it all worth while.
