“I don’t usually post reviews but I had such a great experience here. Jane and Marilyn were so sweet to me - and Jane has a fantastic eye. I came in looking for a quarter zip and left with a bunch of fun sweaters, a button down that doesn’t gape over my tatas (!!!!!), a knit jacket, and a unique purse that I can’t wait to use everyday. And I got to pet Ollie! Who is adorable and a wonderful little doggo. Just a warm, affirming, and comfortable experience - thanks, Jane and Marilyn!”

“i'm a viewer of tv series "fresh off the boat, a story of the americanization of a taiwanese family who immigrates to florida. their family grandmother matriarch is proud of her chinese culture, and wears asian american chinese tops. i'd admired the look, and searched the source as citron in santa monica. in 2019, i ordered 5 tops to wear on special asian events. the shipment was prompt. two of the tops had a chinese motifs. the other 3, was more japanese. the tops are made of quality materials which are wash & wear. i would order more when i downsize my closet space. thanks citron...”

“I have to admit: I live in LA for 14 years, and never heard about this store.I am visiting the Santa Monica area once in 2-3 months, specially the 3rd St. promenade, but didn't notice this store.Last week I had a guest from the UK, and she was the one who noticed the store, while we were there on Saturday. Apparently, she is familiar with their clothes, and love them from London.The moment we entered the store, we were greeted by Chris with a very warm welcoming. He helped my friend, and 2 other customers at the same time, with the BEST customer service I have ever seen. He was so kind, happy, nice , helpful, with an exact eye for sizes and designs. He new in a minute which size my friend needs, and the same for the other 2 customers. "juggling" between all the 3 of them, bringing them everything they wanted, suggested new items (in the exact size), helping all of us checking out , and all of that, with a big smile and a warm heart. What an amazing experience!My friend ended up buying a few items, and so did the other 2.Because he told us he is the manager in Pacific Palisades, we drove there on Monday :-) to check the store over there, before my friend headed back to London.I must say - every business owner who has such a loyal employee, is blessed.Chris is definitely working in the store like it was his.Thank you Chris. She helped me out with everything I had questions with and everything I needed done was completed with ease. The location here is very clean, orderly and organized and there is a parking lot dedicated to Gap behind the store front so there is no need to street park or worry about paying for parking here. “Beautiful and organized store with more inventory and styles than I’ve seen at other LA locations. I felt welcomed the moment I arrived, starting with a warm greeting from a cheerful associate. I bought a maternity jumpsuit a month or so ago and it was fraying at the seams. I went into the store to see what they could do and they offered to exchange it without question. Top notch customer service. In this era of many competing luxury athleisure brands it’s service like this that really makes a brand stand out. I’ve bought a number of outfits from Beyond Yoga and will keep coming back for more. THANK YOU! ?”
“I came here with a couple of out-of-state friends for some quick shopping. The layout is great, it reminds me a lot of the Uniqlo in FigAt7 in DTLA. It has two floors, every customer service representative is friendly, approachable and professional, and we found everything we were looking for. They also have custom designs on the t-shirts, which you can see and apply on one of their stations, and the final design would be ready for you in about 10 minutes, very nice perk! Overall, an excellent place to shop at, like every other Uniqlo store.”

With so many stores cycling out lately, it’s genuinely refreshing to walk into a space that still feels intentional, elevated, and beautifully curated. Johnny Was brings color, texture, enjoy to a mall and city that has had its fair share of changes, challenges, and struggles.
The vibe is relaxed, but chic, very SoCal, and the staff is incredibly warm and helpful. Not pushy, not checked out, just present in the best way. I walked in just to browse, and ended up, leaving with the most gorgeous outfit.
You can tell the team really cares about the customer experience. They took time to help me style a full look, gave honest feedback, and made the whole visit feel personal.
In a time where a lot of retail feels either impersonal or like is disappearing altogether, Johnny Was still feels like a brand that gets it. I hope they stay here for the long-haul Santa Monica needs stores like this.”
“I’m enjoying visiting the brick and mortar shop more and more, rather than online shopping. It’s nice to see all of the shades in a collection housed in one place. Dash is the guy I deal with, and he’s great. I do have to practice some restraint here, because when I find something I feel fits the way I like, every week a new color comes out. I bought a lotus cotton t-shirt that I was literally wearing every time it came back clean. That T-shirt is next level. Go get one.”
