Pet Care

Animal Clinic of Topanga
115 S Topanga Canyon Blvd # B, TopangaAn excellent veterinarian practice. Kind, considerate and thoughtful. Would love to see it expanded to include emergency treatment. Dr Holly and Heather always put the health of my dogs first, without breaking the bank. An honest practice I highly recommend.

Topanga Living Cafe
1704 N Topanga Canyon Blvd, TopangaThis place is such a gem on the mountain! We got there around 845am on Saturday and it wasn't too busy yet. Tables available inside with a cute patio outside. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We ordered: - Salmon Toastie: SO delicious and very fresh. The bread was perfectly toasted, salmon was phenomenal, tomatoes tasted fresh picked out of the garden. Absolutely 10/10 - Big Brekky Plate (add Bacon): Scrambled eggs were perfectly whipped and fluffy. Bread was so tasty and toasted. Potatoes were nicely seasoned but we added Cholula for that kick. Avocado was green and fresh. Tomatoes were nicely cooked adding another layer of flavor. Bacon cooked to the exact right crunch - Hibiscus Iced Tea: Refreshing, not sweet but great flavor They have the cutest market area with homemade candles, sage, books, journals, crystals, jewelry, too!

Inn of the Seventh Ray
128 Old Topanga Canyon Rd, TopangaI'm a loyal patroness from as early as 1997. This is where I celebrated getting a new job that took me away from snowy NJ, dining by myself before heading off to see the sun set at El Matador State Beach. Since then I've been there multiple times because one of my late friends was vegetarian before it was easy to be a vegetarian. This time, I included Inn of the Seventh Ray on a weekend solo trip to remember my late mother and my late friend. Call it a PG-rated Thelma & Louise & Louise kind of thing. The very friendly staff seated me (reservations were made online) on the lowest level creekside. You get a nice observation deck for various birds, bees and dragonflies. The waitstaff greets you promptly with water. You have the option to go veg only ($45) buffet or veg plus meat, which includes cold peeled shrimp cocktail for $5 more. I went veg only in honor of my late friend Kelly. I knew my mom was with me when I saw that there was watercress salad with walnuts and crumbles of I think were blue cheese or gorgonzola. Watercress was her favorite thing. I knew Kelly was with me for the cheesy quiche (best hot item). I took a little bit of everything, which was well-seasoned, not "too" anything. I had also ordered (instead of the complimentary glass of champagne) a Jun & Juice, which is a kombucha-like fizzy elixir made with green tea and aromatics. The juice was papaya strawberry. When I had drunk half of the juice, I poured the kombucha into it and I didn't miss the champers. I'm not a big desserts person but in honor of my mother and Kelly, I made sure to take a bite of everything that could fit on the plate. My favorite bite was of the blueberry cobbler, a bit tart and the crust was buttery. I think my mom would've loved the date bar because it was most like the British fruitcake she loved. The carrot cake was fiah because of all the warming spices, caramelized sugar and seemed a little boozy, too. Valet parking is $9 minus tip (don't forget to tip), but you can conceivably park in the shopping lot across the bridge and walk over; it's very scenic. If you have a chance, visit The Spiral Staircase for new age reading and crystals. They have a unique selection and I picked out a phantom quartz piece to put on my ancestral altar when I got home. This is a perfect place for bridal showers, baby showers, small receptions - anything that will tap into the divine feminine. Wonderfully delicious food to fill you up mentally, physically and spiritually. Hopefully it will be here for another 30 years.
