Pawtero
992 State St, New HavenThe folks here are outstanding. My pup is on immuno-suppressants and blood thinner so she can’t be with other dogs. They not only took her after hours, they added a half-hour post-closing and before we arrived so they could make sure it was clean for her. The groomer took great care with her and was careful to not do anything that would risk cutting her. I’d give them ten stars if I could.

Beyond the incredible staff, the facility itself is top-notch—it is spacious, exceptionally clean, and clearly designed with the dogs’ safety and enrichment in mind. The Cannon
135 Dwight St, New HavenSo many things to say about this place, but the short story is that it’s a great little neighborhood pub with a fully vegan food outfit that’s a must for anyone in New Haven. 5-10 minute walk from Yale as well.
Gooner bar if you’re an Arsenal supporter.
Kitchen closes before the bar, so don’t pull up at midnight expecting food.

Zoi's
63 Grove St, New HavenThank you, Yelp, for steering me to this sandwich shop while visiting Yale. It's a cute, cheery place with kind service and exceptionally good food! I left with half of my sandwich because the portions were so large, and those sweet potato fries - so yummy! My mouth is watering just thinking about my gluten-free sandwich.

Union League
1032 Chapel St, New HavenWe chose Union League to celebrate both our retirement and our 35th wedding anniversary. We had a great experience. The food was delicious. The service was very good from all involved and particularly our waiter John. The person who really made our night was Arthur. We had a happy anniversary postcard on our table with a photo of our hometown. We had a wonderful chat with Arthur - who actually took the photo, as coincidentally, he is from our town. The kitchen also deserves a shout out. In particular, the daily special - the Beef Wellington- was probably the most delicious beef dish we have ever had. Our night was topped off with a special Happy Anniversary message written in chocolate on a plate with some macarons!

Mew Haven Cat Cafe
904 Whalley Ave, New HavenWent to the Felting event recently. It was fun, and the teacher was nice, but I didn't even know what Felting is, so I needed more instruction than what was offered. The teacher was great at answering my questions, but I did feel like a proper intro of information regarding the process was missing. Also, there were other people signed up for the class who, due to circumstances beyond their control, were late and the class started 15 minutes late waiting for them, but the end time was not extended by 15 minutes, so I would have appreciated an on-time start for the people who were on time, or to extend the end time by 15 minutes. It was certainly fun to be with other cat lovers and of course, the kitties themselves during the class!
