I had such an incredible experience at the Home Depot on 100 Suburban Dr in Newark, DE that I felt compelled to leave this review.
First, Pete in Tool Rentals was truly exceptional. From the moment I walked in, he was warm, welcoming, and incredibly respectful. I had absolutely no experience using a power washer, and he took the time to teach me how to use it without any hint of condescension—just patience and genuine kindness. I even shared that I needed the power washer for my deck because my dog is sick, and Pete was so sweet and compassionate about it. When I tried to tip him, he kindly declined. His empathy and professionalism meant more to me than he probably realizes.
Next, Sam went completely above and beyond. He wasn’t even working in tool rentals, yet he still took the time to help me. Even more impressively, despite having a line of customers of his own, he asked a coworker to take over so he could personally help me load the power washer into my car upon my asking. He never once made me feel like a burden or like it “wasn’t his department.” He was extremely careful, made sure not to mess up my seats at all, and showed so much consideration and thoughtfulness throughout the entire interaction.
Lastly, Otis absolutely made my day when I returned the rental. Even though unloading wasn’t technically his role, he happily helped me, was incredibly careful with my car, made me laugh, and once again declined a tip. He made me feel genuinely welcomed and at ease.
I want to say thank you to all three of these amazing employees. As a woman who lost her older brother (and only sibling) six months ago and is no longer living with her dad that normally would help, moments like this matter deeply. You all made me feel empowered, respected, capable, and supported—not just as a customer, but as a person.

“Good selection and eerily quiet like most Lowe’s locations. Watched like I was awaiting a beating from grandpa at self checkout. Gestapo role seems to be the norm for their self checkout, so nothing shocking. I do however, become irritated when the plant which was marked down by 50%, rings up at full price, despite the sign stating it wouldn’t.”
