“I had an excellent bank experience at Hawaii Central today. I needed to make a bank transfer and needed help. The young lady at the counter was very helpful and went out of her way to help me by referring me to another young lady by the name of Mila. Mila came out with her laptop and assisted me step by step on how to make the transfer. Very pleasant attitude. I appreciate the great service. I have been a member since 2015.”

“While applying for a loan seemed to take a little longer than expected (to be fair I live on the mainland), overall I'm really glad I've been a member for the last 20 years! Even though I no longer live in Hawaii, with online banking, shared branching, and their call center, having access to my account is not an issue. It's great having HFCU as a competitive option for my saving and financing needs. I first opened my account at HFCU in high school at their branch near the commissary on Hickam AFB. In addition to opening my account, the member service representative assisting me at the time was incredibly helpful in explaining what makes a credit union different from a bank for a scholarship essay. I was awarded the scholarship (from another credit union) several months later and never got the chance to say how grateful I was for her time. Thank you for showing me the credit union difference Hickam FCU!”

“I was in the area last Friday and had to make a pit-stop at this particular branch to take care of business. I arrived -- should anyone need verification of doing said business, I was there between 9:20am and 9:30am -- shortly after the branch had just opened at 9:00am. This branch has parking in a parking structure with a height clearance of 6'8" that my full-sized lifted vehicle will clearly not fit in but there were parking stalls alongside to the right before the parking garage. However, most of the outside stalls were coned off, for whatever reason, as it was not indicated why aside from the signage stating, "For ATM and oversized vehicles." I proceeded to reverse-park in the very first stall but was waiting for two women in the next stall over as I was anticipating them to walk-off but they didn't. Rather, one of the women moved one of the other cones for me which I did so in that, now, open stall. As I got out of my car and was gathering my belongings from the back seat, I was approached by a short Asian lady, with black thick medium-length-non-flat-ironed hair, wearing jeans and a green polo, possibly a lot attendant, and in a hostile tone, greeted with, "Are you doing business at the credit union?" as she began to move the cone next to my car. She continued with, "You can park in the structure," to which I replied, "My car doesn't fit in there." She then stated, "It's 6.8." Now, for one -- I drive a lifted full-sized vehicle. I am constantly wary of height clearances wherever I go. Two -- she must've mistook me as visually-impaired as if I did not see the obviously-stated, HEIGHT CLEARANCE 6'8" sign, literally one of the first signs I looked for, aside from the "Hawaii USA" upfront. Three-- 6.8 does NOT equate to 6'8" LOL !! Anyhow, ended up doing the "business at the credit union" that needed to be done. Thankfully, as I walked into the branch there were two available tellers with such warm and welcoming attitudes, the complete opposite as the woman I first encountered. The teller was courteous, friendly, patient and professional. **Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere if your vehicle will not clear 6.8.... I mean 6 ft 8 inches... as there is no other designated parking to do so** The stars apply to my pleasant experience with the teller. Negative stars for the ill-mannered lot attendant.”

“I'm a long-time member of this credit union, from its former name of Hawaiian Tel Employees FCU. Over the years, many smaller credit unions merged into it so it was renamed to reflect its diverse customer base. It's now known as HiFi for short. This is the main branch off of North King Street in Kalihi, which is open on weekdays only. As such, I don't often visit this location, unless I happen to be in the area or must complete a transaction in person. There's free covered parking which makes it convenient.HiFi offers a wide variety of services including credit and debit cards, free signature guarantee, home banking, loans, and home mortgage and equity loans. Darren Kimura is very helpful and knowledgeable.”

“Really good service from Aaron and the new accounts department! I tried to open an account however with a bit of inquires I could not. Aaron took the time explaining to me why they could not open the account and that next year they will be more than happy to open the account for me. That interaction with them made me leave feeling cared for!”

“2020 wasn't fascinating the way we wanted it to be due to the impact of COVID-19. A lot of people were forced to withdraw from their various jobs, while some other sources of income were blocked due to the lockdown. I started my Forex/Crypto investment with the help Mrs Hendrick Jennifer, I started with an investment of $1,000 and I was able to make a profit of $14,000 within a week of trading. Now I earn a good amount of profit from Forex and Bitcoin trading and I owe everyt”

“I would like to take a moment to recognize an outstanding employee at Navy Federal Credit Union, Darlene Santana, whose professionalism, patience, and dedication truly made a difference in resolving a very frustrating situation for my family.

My mother opened an account at the branch, but shortly after, the account was unexpectedly locked and we were unable to conduct any transactions. What made the situation more difficult was that no one at the branch seemed to understand why the hold had been placed on the account. We visited the branch multiple times five times in total trying to resolve the issue. At one point, the experience became very discouraging when a staff member simply told us to leave and that she would call if the issue was resolved. That interaction felt unprofessional and left us feeling as though our concerns were not being taken seriously.

Despite this, everything changed when we met Darlene Santana.

From the moment she assisted us, her approach was completely different. She treated our situation with genuine care and urgency. Even though she initially did not know the cause of the issue, she did not dismiss us or pass us along. Instead, she took full ownership of helping us find a solution.

Darlene carefully reviewed all of our documents, reassured us that everything we had provided was correct, and began making calls to investigate the issue further. She advised us to return earlier in the day so she could coordinate with the corporate office on the East Coast before their offices closed, which showed great attention to detail and a strong commitment to solving the problem.

When we returned as she suggested, Darlene spent a significant amount of time making multiple calls about five in total to different departments to track down the root of the problem. Her persistence eventually uncovered that the hold on the account was not due to anything we had done wrong, but rather a system glitch that occurred the day the account was opened.

Thanks to her patience, persistence, and professionalism, the issue was finally resolved and the account is now functioning properly.

What impressed me most about Darlene was not just that she solved the problem, but how she handled the entire situation. She remained calm, respectful, and determined to help us, even though the issue was complex and required a lot of effort on her part. She never made us feel like a burden, and she continuously reassured us that she would do everything possible to fix the situation.

Employees like Darlene are the reason people trust and remain loyal to institutions like Navy Federal Credit Union. Her work ethic, dedication to customer service, and willingness to go the extra mile represent the very best of what customer service should look like.

Darlene Santana truly deserves recognition for her exceptional service. Her persistence, professionalism, and commitment to helping customers are qualities that should be applauded and emulated across the organization. I sincerely hope Navy Federal recognizes the outstanding job she did in helping my family, because employees like her are invaluable.
Ask for Darlene when you go there. She’s the GOAT!”

“HawaiiUSA is my favorite financial institution in Hawaii! Used them since college, but I have been a member longer than that as both of my parents are retired public high school teachers. The Kapiolani location is the most convenient to me, only a couple of miles away from my place. Evidently it's pretty popular with other members too, as the service line can be quite lengthy on Friday afternoons. When that happens, I will try to use other nearby HawaiiUSA locations like Waialae or Main Branch in downtown. Otherwise, there are a lot of parking stalls to make a visit a quick in & out. Later this year in 2024, HawaiiUSA will close this location and move to a new location in Kakaako. We'll see how that works out, I have concerns about the parking. Other than that, repeat and recommend!”

“This is a very new and barebones Navy Fed. I had to come in here because I refinanced an auto loan through Navy Fed. Instead of doing everything online like normal people in the year of our lord 2025, I literally had to snail mail a paper check from them to USAA. Then I had to get some other paperwork notarized -- they do not have a notary on staff (or at least at the time I went) -- so I had to go to the one by the big PX. But if you just need some basic banking stuff, i think this is the spot to go to like many things on Hickam. The lines are always shorter than the other Navy Fed. The only hiccup was the dude who was checking me in was new so I had to explain what I needed to get done several times, and provide him my number several times, before I could pass go.”
