“Having lived in Japan, I always dreamed of having a Konbini in Chicago and Konbini & Kanpai made the dream a reality! They have an excellent selection of drinks ranging from non-alcoholic to alcoholic. The staff can match your palette to a drink in minutes and it will become a new favorite. I’ve hosted my birthday there a few times and the staff has always been so kind. The snacks are often ones I can’t get unless I’m in Japan so I love going there. They also have board games! Great place to hang out casually with friends, have a first or many dates, or just to pick up something for the party!”
“One of the best bottle shops in Chicago especially if you're a rum / wine nerd. Super well curated and they put on regular tastings and events that are really fun. Everyone at the shop is super knowledgeable and won't steer you wrong with whatever you're looking for. Cheers!”

“Amazing, just amazing. I was looking to pick up some beer since I was going to a byob restaurant down the street and Google let me to bottles & cans. This shop reminds me of a beer shop in Syracuse, NY and it brought back so many good memories. I picked up a 4 pack from the fridge. If you aren’t looking for cold beer, it looks like you can break the cans off if you wanted to create your own pack. Staff was very nice. So much beer, cider, wine and other stuff!”

“Where do I even begin? Calling this place a boutique bottle shop almost feels like selling it short. They call it a “Brewtique,” and honestly, one of the best in Chicago—I can’t think of one I’d put ahead of it.
Owners Janel and Paul are absolutely perfect. They’re incredibly knowledgeable, genuinely welcoming, and somehow seem to know exactly what you’re looking for… even when you don’t. Whether you’re after beer, wine, spirits, or one of their rare gems, they’ll steer you in the right direction without pressuring you.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t just a place to grab a bottle and leave. It’s got serious Cheers (the show) vibes. They remember your name, your favorite drinks, and somehow even your dog’s name (who, by the way, will probably leave with a treat).
After a few visits, you’re not just a customer—you feel like a friend. Give it a little more time and you’re practically family. That’s the kind of place this is, and it’s exactly why supporting local businesses matters.
If I could give them 10 stars, I would… and pro-tip: ask which private barrel whiskey they have available.
Do yourself a favor: stop in once. Just don’t blame me when it becomes your new favorite spot. You’ll be thanking me.”

“I went in looking for cachaça— hard to find, but I thought to myself, “if anywhere has it, they have it here.” Looked for a while to no avail, and although the cachaça wasn’t in the main section, the very helpful staff didn’t allow me to leave until I’d found what I was looking for, and called the owner to locate where the cachaça was and make sure I left with what I needed. Thank you!”
“Clark Haus is family to me at this point. I've lived in this neighborhood for like 13 years and they've been there whenever I need to grab something quick, more complex, have questions, need help, to scare away creepy men following me around, and everything in between. This day and age, its so special & rare to have a place you feel safe & seen and know has your back. I feel like I'm in a small town rather than a big city whenever I stop in. Zach is amazing. I cannot sing his praises enough and I owe him my life TBH lol. His brother Sam is the sweetest, so is his wife, and all the crew that work there are just incredible, helpful, funny and supportive. “Taste threw a wonderful party for me and 20 friends on their patio this past weekend - they were more than accommodating, as they reserved the outdoor patio, catered a large charcuterie (that was extremely tasty!) and pulled four bottles of wine for us. Our server was kind and checked on us throughout the evening. BIG thanks to the Taste staff, as they made my birthday weekend all the more special. “I love this store and I think their selection is fresh and thorough! I gotta say, though, that I’ve been coming here less since they stopped selling the cheddar mac salad. I understand it probably wasn’t the most profitable, but it was the main reason I’d go here sometimes instead of Agora (I’m a lot closer to Agora) because their mac salad sucks. I still like Olivia’s a lot, but I was definitely coming in large part for the macaroni salad. Even my mom, who hates pasta salad, liked your cheddar mac salad. I doubt it will come back but I wanted to make my voice heard (: love your flower selection though!!”

“This is the first time I actually made a stop to purchase something at Gold Coast Market. I entered the market and I was interested in the selection of bottles they offered. I was a little skeptical because all of the bottles were behind the counter which was slightly disappointing because I like to scan and read labels. The stock seemed like it had better days but the gentleman behind the counter was very nice and an employee off duty stopped in looking for her sandwich. The clerk made it seem like someone took it but the shortly before the woman was to leave, the clerk revealed her food behind the counter. We All had a good laugh! So that put me in a better mood so I purchased a pint of khalua and a bottle of Tito's vodka to make white Russians. I also perused the aisles before I made my purchase and it was up to my local liquor store standards. Lots to look at and there even is deli on the west side of the street for sandwiches. Good look!”
