5 Industrial Parkway, BrunswickI truly cannot say enough about Midcoast Humane Society and the people who work there, especially Tammy, their Community Resource Manager.
When we adopted one of our kittens, Walter, we never could have imagined the medical journey that would follow. He initially struggled with Tritrichomonas, and after months of dealing with ongoing GI issues, treatment, vet visits, and expenses, we were devastated when he was ultimately diagnosed with FIP. At that point, we were already thousands of dollars into his care and were facing an incredibly expensive treatment plan.
I reached out to Midcoast Humane Society not expecting them to be able to do much, but simply hoping they might have some resources or guidance. Instead, Tammy went above and beyond to help us. She worked to get assistance approved for Walter's second round of medication and then went completely out of her way to make sure we could actually get the funding, including driving and meeting me closer to home so I could get his medication as soon as possible.
That medication is literally life-saving for Walter. Because of their help, we were able to continue his treatment without missing doses during a time when every single dose mattered.
I know that helping with medical expenses isn't something anyone is obligated to do, and I don't take for granted what Midcoast Humane Society did for our family. They didn't just help us financially, they helped give Walter a chance to continue LIFE. Tammy treated our situation with compassion, urgency, and genuine care when we were scared and didn't know how we were going to make it work.
Walter is family. He is a silly, sweet little guy who deserves every chance to get better, and I will forever be grateful to the people who stepped up for him when we needed it most.
If you're considering adopting, supporting, or donating to Midcoast Humane Society, I hope you know that the people there truly care about the animals and the families they become part of.
