“I first discovered Campfire Pottery while staying at Wolf Cove Inn, where they use these dishes in their restaurant. I had never once thought I wanted pottery as my everyday dishes, but the moment I used theirs, I understood the difference.
The weight, balance, smooth finish, and especially the handles feel just right. Every piece is substantial without being clumsy, handmade without feeling rough, and beautiful enough to make an ordinary meal feel special.
Afterward, I tried looking for less expensive pottery, but nothing had the same feel or quality. I have come to realize that this truly is a craft that cannot simply be discounted or duplicated cheaply. Campfire Pottery is worth saving for and purchasing a little at a time.
I absolutely love the pieces I now own, and in the future I hope to buy some for each of my adult children as well. These are not just dishes. They are the kind of pieces a family can use, treasure, and pass along.”

From wood, to glass, to ceramic and beyond, this store is an absolute treasure trove of finds made by local Maine artists. They also offer shipping in case you do not have a way to get it home yourself. I was able to purchase 2 vases as a gift for a dear friend, and they even included my handwritten card that I brought with me to ship along with them. “I was just walking around in Portland and spotted this cute little shop. When I tell you I could spend the whole day in there I really could. The whole vibe of the store was just amazing. The girl who worked there was so friendly and helpful. I could literally buy everything in the store that's how much i loved it in there. Next time I come up there to visit I'm definitely stopping by again.”
“If I could give the store more than five stars I would, the customer service is beyond reproach. I bought a bar of soap there which I loved and three weeks later it was gone and I couldn’t remember exactly what it was so I called and he went through hoops to find out which soap I was looking for long story short I ordered more he sent them to me and I will forever be buying it from the store”

“Visited Jen Burrall Designs for the first time a few weeks ago. What a gem right here in Portland!!! Jen’s handmade jewelry is absolutely stunning!!!! She is in the process of making me a ring with Seaglass, I can’t wait to pick it up, the intricate design within the ring is amazing!! She also made me a band, made with sand from the beach in Maine, it’s so cool!!! And the clothes, WOW!!! The styles Jen has picked out to sell in her store are absolutely beautiful, she has an eye for fashion, a true artist!!! I picked out so many eclectic pieces, and she’s always getting new, fun styles in. She also has other really cool items that she sells, that would make awesome gifts, like bags, and wallets. I have been in, now a few times, and like I said she always has new, different, cool items to browse through. Also, Jen is super cool, laid back, and easy going. It’s such a pleasure seeing and talking with her. She makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed in her space. If you’re looking for something different, beautiful and hip visit Jen at her shop in Portland, I can promise you, it will not be your only visit!!! We didn’t buy anything that particular day, but she left us with a good impression of her and the store. When we needed assistance a few months later with an exchange of items from an online order, we reached out to her for help (we don’t have a local store in our area). We really appreciated her care and assistance in finding a set of glassware that matched our needs, and she made the entire process feel personal and easy. “Old Port Specialty Tile has a great selection of tiles, including many that you don’t see in other tile shops. We initially bought small glass tiles for our two shower floors and had them installed about five years ago.
Unfortunately, some of the tiles started popping out about 18 months ago. It turns out that, even though the manufacturer of these tiles didn’t acknowledge it, they weren’t suited for floor application. But, not to worry, Old Port Tile let us choose replacement tiles and installed them at no charge. That’s what I call exceptional customer service.
We just had our new floors installed, and they look great. I’m so pleased I selected Old Port Specialty Tile for our project and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to our friends.”

“The food is frankly phenomenal - it's themed around delicious Cajun fare, but your traditional bar staples (*cough* try the fries *cough*) are also absurdly good.
The cosy atmosphere is reminiscent of Cheers, there is frequent live music, and the best part is that (outside of live performances) they don't blast the music! You can hear yourself think and have a conversation without yelling, a rarity these days.
Bonus points because all their stools/chairs solidly touch ground with all four legs, so no wobbling all night because you got the dud seat.
Gardens outside for those who are into plants, and an eclectic consignment store right next door for that good wandering.
Haven't tried the breakfast/brunch menu yet, but excited to go back for that.”
