Pet Care

Veterinary Emergency Group
165 Needham St, NewtonI took my service dog there because she seemed to be in pain. Very nice and considerate to me. I was very concerned about my dog and i only had $640 to my name. It cost all that I had so my savings was depleted. I was given a prescription for puppy aspirin and told to get her Cosiquin for her arthritis in her back legs. I went on my way.

Newton Animal Hospital, A Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner
602 Washington St, NewtonDr Santos took care of my dogs for 6 years. Sad she’s gone. The office staff and providers are all different from when I first started coming there. I can’t tell yet. They seem attentive and nice.

Pet Sitting & Training

Pooch Hotel Newton
285 Newtonville Ave, NewtonJen is an amazing trainer and I am SO grateful for all that she's done to help my reactive dog! We have been working with Jen for several weeks, doing a combination of 1:1 sessions (just Jen and my dog) and home sessions (Jen, my dog, and me). My dog was highly reactive to other dogs, constantly lunging, barking, and having other negative reactions on walks. My dog is six years old, so I was worried that it might be too late to address her behavioral issues. I started to see improvements in my dog’s reactivity within a couple of sessions and she has continued to steadily improve. In less than two months, walks have gone from stressful to enjoyable, and my bond with my dog has become stronger. Jen tailors sessions to my dog’s needs and comes to my house for training (always on time!), which works really well with my busy schedule. Jen is incredibly knowledgeable and patient, and truly cares so much about my dog’s progress and well-being. I highly recommend Jen to anyone who is looking for help with their reactive dog!

Jinny's Pizzeria
1231 Centre St, NewtonMy partner and I shared the wood-fired chicken wings plus ranch dip, allá Norma pizza, and sun-dried tomato pizza - TASTE: 4/5 - favorite was the Norma pizza's eggplant and smoked mozzarella, so good! Appreciated the buttermilk ranch to dip the pizza crusts into, though the Calabrian chili glaze on the wings was just alright. When we came a couple years ago, we were obsessed w the sun-dried tomato, but it didn't hit the same this time -- they've since added arugula, and the burrata and tomato sauce seem different TEXTURE: 4/5 - wish there was maybe more tomato sauce on the sun-dried tomato pizza? Otherwise, light dough and chewy crusts PRICE: 4/5 - came to $80 total. Prob wouldn't get the $4 ranch again lol SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - about 20 small wings in the order, more than we expected. Took half the pizzas home for leftovers SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 4:30pm on a Sunday and thankfully most of the seating at the counter was open. Food came out 10-15min after ordering ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - narrow space w maybe 20 seats. We were so charmed by the family photos on the wall and custom wallpaper; such wonderful personal touches! PARKING: 4/5 - got a metered street spot right on Centre St

cacao
23 Lincoln St, NewtonKilling time between appointments, my daughter and I stopped in and -- just WOW! A cappuccino, latte, chocolate croissants, and sampling of chocolates later, we knew we would be coming back! They are so nice and helpful and the Dominican deco is the perfect setting for relaxing, just wish there was more seating.

Pressed Cafe
300 Needham St, NewtonPressed Cafe is a chain of restaurants specializing in a wide range of foods, such as health foods, brunch, or casual dinner plates.
The parking here is not great, though take-out orders are available. The inside is quite spacious, with a bar section as well as multiple seating in the back. The staff are friendly, and they pump out orders very quickly even when they have many orders to go through.
I typically eat here for lunch, and have tried multiple different options. I found the clam chowder to be average, the bread included was a bit too hard for my liking but did go well with the clam chowder. The Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese is really good, it's one of my favorites to get. The breakfast bowls and salmon toast is also very good as well.
Overall, its a great place to visit and eat for a casual brunch or maybe a quick dinner.

51 Lincoln St, NewtonTheir burger is amazing. The winter margarita I had was delicious. The wait staff are all so kind and attentive. We had our 1yo with us and she's not the quietest but they were so sweet with her. Really appreciated it. We will be back for sure!

Bernard's
55 Boylston St, Chestnut HillAmazingly fresh American Chinese food. Dumplings w sesame, boneless pork spare ribs, general tso’s, and sautéed string beans were exactly what want, with very high qualify ingredients. Chicken was super tender, not dry and overcooked. Sauce on dumplings was stand out to the point we saved it for other dishes. Really wanted to try the Peking Duck, but they were sold out on a busy day

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Newton Centre
1241 Centre St, NewtonWe come here often because it’s convenient and close. Pretty good consistent Tatte, it’s just really busy and crowded. Service is good, just sometimes the location can get hectic, especially on weekends
