New England Dog Biscuit Company
7 Central St, SalemIf you are traveling through Salem with your dog, New England Dog Biscuit Company is a mandatory stop! It is an adorable neighborhood pet store. Our pup is an incredibly picky eater, but he completely flipped for their house made peanut butter and banana biscuits. They also have the cutest decorated cookies. Beyond the fresh baked goods, the shop is packed with high quality food brands, tough toys, and unique gifts. The staff is genuinely welcoming, loves greeting four legged visitors, and even offered a free sample at the counter. It’s a wonderful small business that genuinely cares about

It's Raining Pets Inc
3 Bridge St, SalemAbsolutely wonderful place. My husband and I stopped in with our two Corgis while visiting Salem and spoke with the owner. Owner was very friendly, explained the daycare and was very personable. The whole staff treated our dogs like they were their own. I would recommend and use them again if I was in the area!

Alicyn's Laundro-Mutt
131 Boston St, SalemThis place is great at accepting new clients!Maureen is very welcoming! She is also very good at dealing with dogs that have high anxiety. My first time meeting Maureen she met with me so that my two dogs could get to know her. The following weekend she fit me right into the schedule. They both came home happy & clean! Not to mention, they let her cut their nails, and they never let anyone get near them.

Hawthorne Animal Health Care
120 Canal St, SalemDr Reilly has been our vet for the past 8 years for both of our cats, first at Atlantic in Marblehead and now at Hawthorne.
If you can get her and her team as your vet, do it!
I can’t say enough good things about her; she is so caring and gentle with Tommy and Sophie in all their care, but also with us as concerned pet parents. She is very generous with her time, is always professional, listens and explains, but above all just cares so much, and it shows.
Edit: just adding here that the whole team is amazing, but a special shoutout to vet techs Stephanie and Mike

Pet Sitting & Training

Kissable Paws
11 Franklin St, SalemI actually wrote a bad review several years ago because I'd never used a groomer before and my new dog was so nervous. Come to find out, my dog has terrible anxiety and this is the only groomer she will tolerate. The owner is great with her and my other dog and they always get wonderful cuts. I have had her returned to me with half a cut from lesser groomers who couldnt handle her. Kissable paws are the best!

76 Lafayette St, SalemWent here with my family for a beer after visiting Salem for the day. Beer was delicious and we ordered Mexican from the restaurant next door. We accidentally were there for trivia night which was a fun added bonus. Would definitely recommend. Plus I loved the artwork- looks exactly like my own sleepy couch dog so I had to get a tshirt :-)

Tepeyac Cocina Mexicana
262 Highland Ave, SalemRecently moved to Salem area and was looking for new places to try. Blown away by the food here, we had the Birria tacos, steak tacos, refried beans, and chips with guac and salsa. The green salsa that was served with the steak tacos made the entire meal for me, it added the perfect limey bite with the steak. The birria was a 12/10, truly some of the best food I’ve had in the area.

East Regiment Beer Company
30 Church St #B1, SalemThis is a review that should have been done a couple years back, but I completely forgot, and this place deserves it. I came in from out of state to visit Salem, and stopped in here. The beer was great; but an added bonus was that these guys could not have been nicer to talk to. When I mentioned I brew, and would love to start something up as a new post-retirement career, they were supportive, offered to give any advice they could, and made this such a great visit to a place I didn’t know existed until it turned up on a Google search for “Breweries near me.” I hope to be back in Salem sooner than later, and I will make it a point to stop in and have more beer than I probably should. Cheers guys!

Brew Box on Essex
131-2 Essex St, SalemDuring my trip to Salem this was one of the coffee shops in the area that wasn't swarming with witchy tourist, which was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for a pick me up at the halfway point of our tour through the city and I finally decided to be brave and try out the polar seltzer ades (lemonade seltzers - non alcoholic). The strawberry flavor I had was surprisingly good, so now I finally have a seltzer that I like! My friend in the spirit of it being fall got her PSL, which she really enjoyed. The Brew Box team was super quick with churning out her drink order along with some of the other people that had ordered ahead of us. I also really loved the beautiful mural on the wall when you walk in! If you're in Salem definitely skip the more hokey and themed cafes and stop in at the Brew Box!

Clam Shack
200 Fort Ave, SalemEvery time anywhere in New England vicinity, search for whole belly clams. This occasion had the clam and scallop basket. Remarkable!!!! Better than expected, perfectly fried, awesome french fries and Cole slaw. GF is a vegetarian and was happy with her grilled veggie sandwich. We sat at a picnic table overlooking the ocean. Only downside was fighting seagulls...they must know good eats as well. Kid and dog friendly for those of you who have. Must go!!!!!!

Sweet Boba
282 Derby St, SalemAbsolutely one of the best bubble tea shops I’ve visited! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt cozy, clean, and welcoming. The staff were so friendly and patient while helping me choose a drink, and their recommendations were perfect.
The milk tea was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The tea itself had a rich aroma and tasted high quality, not overly sweet like many other places. The balance between the tea and milk was perfect, and you could really taste the freshness in every sip. The boba pearls were soft, chewy, and cooked perfectly — not too hard and not mushy. Honestly, some of the best boba texture I’ve had in a long time!
I also loved the variety on the menu. There were so many creative flavors and topping options to choose from, whether you like classic milk tea, fruity refreshers, smoothies, or specialty drinks. Everything looked beautifully prepared and Instagram-worthy.
Another thing I appreciated was how clean and organized the shop was. The drinks came out quickly even though the place was busy, and the customer service stayed warm and professional the entire time. It’s clear the team puts a lot of care into both the drinks and the customer experience.
This is definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to whenever I’m craving bubble tea. Great quality, amazing taste, friendly staff, and wonderful vibes all in one place. If you love milk tea and boba, you absolutely need to try this shop. Highly recommend — truly a five-star experience!

Minzu Sushi
142 Canal St, SalemI have been a longtime customer and Minzu has never missed on any of my orders. Due to the size of the restaurant it's not ideal for indoor dining as there's like under a half dozen tables, but they do shine with the takeout. I'm very particular with ordering sushi whether it's delivery or takeout, but this is the one place that is worth the drive.
The sushi is always fresh and well-put together. I will order multiple items so I have it for the next day. I have tried most of their rolls and they all hold up to be tasty and balanced.
The value is the best thing about Minzu Sushi. Compared to other sushi restaurants nearby their quality to price ratio is great. Please don't change whatever it is that is keeping this place great!

PALS Animal Life Savers
10 Traders Way, SalemCannot recommend them highly enough! I adopted my cat Mercy (formerly Kiki) from PALS in July 2025 and she is the best companion I could ask for. They were careful in considering what I was looking for in a cat and let me meet 3 different cats who were all great, but I went home with Mercy and couldn't be happier. The cats are sweet, good-tempered and well taken care of.
