When I tick was found an email went out immediately and all dogs searched. Staff was very responsive to her needs regarding anxiety and a sore back leg. Big Fish Little Fish Pet Store
55 Elm St, SomervilleThe owner is very knowledgeable about his fish and takes excellent care of them. Has a great variety of freshwater and semi-tropicals, especially bettas. I'm super pleased with the corydoras and shrimp I got here.I'm sceptical of some of the other animals for sale (birds, rabbits) but I do not know what is adequate for them so I can't say if their quality is on par with the fish.

Stinky's Kittens & Doggies Too
110 Bristol Rd, SomervilleThis for the review that Carlosleonmakeuphair posted a few minutes ago. I was at the salon when the assistant mention to you severl times that they do no do Lion Trims or any cuts on cats. you ask again and again three times. The assistant again said sorry we do not sir. So I do not understand if someone says they do not offer that service, than why get upset with them a lie about them having bad customer service!

Theresa was so sweet and gave buddy some love and super yummy salmon treats and he warmed right up to her. Jean groomed buddy and he couldn’t smell better, his paws are nice and clean and his nails are trimmed perfectly. He was so happy and I can’t wait to keep bringing him back for all of his grooming needs. Thank you so much Pet Spa team.

Winter Hill Veterinary Clinic
257 Broadway, SomervilleThis is the best vet in the state of MA. I made sure to find fear-free certified vets, and that’s how I found Dr. Hummer. My dog (6 yo, spayed, mix, rescue) is terrified of going to the vet, and Dr. Hummer played with her and got to know her before he started his exam. You actually couldn’t tell that he was examining her because he was so gentle and loving towards my dog. This vet answers all my questions and is always a joy to see. My girl loves the vet now!!

Porter Square Veterinarian
360 Summer St, SomervilleIt was my first time here and I didn't know what to expect [since I recently moved to Boston with my pup]. However, everyone was very kind and professional.
The front desk was patient with my pup [who was a little nervous, as is the case with going to a new vet] and offered her treats to calm her down.
I loved how gentle and loving Dr. English was to my pup. Luna [my pup] was a little nervous initially, but Dr. English took the extra time to play with her [belly rubs work every time..haha] and make her comfortable and then did a thorough evaluation.
Unlike many places where the vet rushes you, Dr. English showed a lot of patience and took the time to ensure that all my questions about Luna were answered; so, I could leave with the peace of mind. You can see that Dr. English really cares about your pets [and animals]!!
Logistics and Pricing: Booking the appointment over the phone was very convenient and when I arrived, there was no wait time. The prices for the normal vet visit and the vaccines were also very reasonable.
Thank you to Dr. English and her staff for taking care of Luna! Keep up the great work!

Pet Sitting & Training

Zen Dog Training
391 Medford St, SomervilleAs a first time dog owner, I was anxious about where to start with training. When I heard about Zen Dog Training and saw they had a puppy class, I knew it was the right fit for my new puppy and me. Pete has been our instructor and he's been great! He's super patient with answering questions and gives helpful feedback when we show him what we've been practicing. I was definitely overwhelmed having a new puppy, but it was reassuring to know that each week if I worked on the homework with my puppy that we'd improve. My puppy benefited from being able to play with other puppies her age each week. I've also found having access to the Zen Dog Training Puppy Course resources online to be really helpful especially when I needed a reminder of what was covered in class (the videos, comics, and blog posts are easy to understand). I definitely would recommend Zen Dog Training! We have our last class this week and I'm going to miss it when it's over.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

P & K Delicatessen
244 Beacon St, SomervilleMark does an amazing job. Every sub they offer is 10/10. Support a family run, local business, that uses quality ingredients. Their Italian sub is arguably the best I have ever had. You won't leave here disappointed!!!

Koshari Mama
585 Somerville Ave, SomervilleLast night, I celebrated my Master’s degree at this beautiful Egyptian vegan restaurant, and I honestly don’t think words can fully capture what we experienced. The food was not simply delicious, it was magical. Every bite carried warmth, soul, tradition, and love. You could taste the care in every spice, every dish, every little detail placed on the table like a gift.
What touched me even more was the extraordinary kindness of the owners. We had two people in our party with severe celiac disease, and they went above and beyond to ensure everything was completely safe, with such attentiveness and care to avoid any cross contamination. That level of thoughtfulness is rare, and it meant the world to us.
And the owner herself… what a beautiful human being. Speaking with her felt like sitting in the kitchen of a loving mother, wrapped in warmth and sincerity. She welcomed us not as customers, but as family. There is a softness and generosity in this place that stays with you long after dinner ends. This is not just a restaurant. It is a sanctuary. A little oasis of love, culture, safety, and human connection. A place where food becomes poetry and hospitality becomes something sacred.
Thank you for making such an important celebration in my life feel unforgettable. I will carry this evening in my heart for a very long time!!

FUKI-Japanese-Cuisine
16 Bow St, SomervilleI love coming here (pics from multiple visits). The cocktails are always great, and Robin, my go-to server, always knows exactly which sake to recommend and pair with my meal. The food is fresh and beautifully prepared, and the atmosphere is romantic and quiet. Whenever I bring friends here, they always enjoy their time. I often recommend Robin to my friends for his sake selections, and they always come back with nothing but good things to say and how he introduced them to their new favorite sake.

Sakura Asian Bistro and Sushi
263 Elm St, SomervilleEverything we had was tasty, and the prices weren't too crazy. The sashimi was great, edamame was tasty, and I liked the specialty roll we got, the Hawaii roll. The only caveat is the chicken teriyaki was a bit overcooked, but it was a good portion.

Tall Order
70 Beacon St, SomervilleLove love love this place. I’ve been a frequent regular for a few months now and I can say that the drinks, food, and staff are always top notch.
They have one of the best burgers in town especially for late night! The pimento cheese is beyond delicious and at this point the bartender Mika always knows to throw it in for me the second I walk in.
The cocktail and mocktail list are pretty impressive too. If you like the mocktail “1, 2, 3, 4” you should ask one of the bartenders to make you the 5678.

Winter Hill Brewing Company
328 Broadway, SomervilleCame here for trivia (Thursdays at 7:30!), and it was pretty packed. Luckily we were able to snag a table and ordered some beers. The workers are all very nice and there's a real sense of community here! A very homey and welcoming spot. The latkes were also delicious- tangy, savory, and not too greasy. I also highly recommend the pretzel, which had a nice bite to it, and came with delicious sauces and amazing pickled beets!
