Pet Spa
669 Somerville Ave, SomervilleOur first time and very pleased. Our mini Bernidoodle dog was a bit shabby having missed her regular cut due to the move to Boston. We discussed the type of cut and she suggested a modified summer cut. Ruthie looked beautiful so I made a future appointment.

Pet Care

Tandem Veterinary Clinic - Somerville
116 Beacon St, SomervilleI was with tandem vet for a little under 2 years when I got orders to move to hawaii. Well hawaii regulations are apparently very strict on the paperwork required to bring a pet (they need original rabies certificates signed in blue ink). Driving out of state after shipping my car I found this requirement. I called them and they worked with me and went out of their way to get the paperwork mailed overnight to me. Without this I would have had to postpone my flight or had my dog quarantined in hawaii on arival. I want to thank Carie and the rest of the team for their support.

Winter Hill Veterinary Clinic
257 Broadway, SomervilleThis is the best vet in the state of MA. I made sure to find fear-free certified vets, and that’s how I found Dr. Hummer. My dog (6 yo, spayed, mix, rescue) is terrified of going to the vet, and Dr. Hummer played with her and got to know her before he started his exam. You actually couldn’t tell that he was examining her because he was so gentle and loving towards my dog. This vet answers all my questions and is always a joy to see. My girl loves the vet now!!

Porter Square Veterinarian
360 Summer St, SomervilleIt was my first time here and I didn't know what to expect [since I recently moved to Boston with my pup]. However, everyone was very kind and professional.
The front desk was patient with my pup [who was a little nervous, as is the case with going to a new vet] and offered her treats to calm her down.
I loved how gentle and loving Dr. English was to my pup. Luna [my pup] was a little nervous initially, but Dr. English took the extra time to play with her [belly rubs work every time..haha] and make her comfortable and then did a thorough evaluation.
Unlike many places where the vet rushes you, Dr. English showed a lot of patience and took the time to ensure that all my questions about Luna were answered; so, I could leave with the peace of mind. You can see that Dr. English really cares about your pets [and animals]!!
Logistics and Pricing: Booking the appointment over the phone was very convenient and when I arrived, there was no wait time. The prices for the normal vet visit and the vaccines were also very reasonable.
Thank you to Dr. English and her staff for taking care of Luna! Keep up the great work!

Pet Sitting & Training

Zen Dog Training
391 Medford St, SomervilleElissa helped me enormously in an intensive two-hour session of what is truly the best behavioral conditioning I've ever studied or learned from anyone. My Pomeranian's behavior instantly shifted, and what I just learned will be essential in creating a better environment for both of us. As in human relationships, clear communication reaps huge benefits when a human begins to understand how her behavior is understood by a dog. If you are having what seem to be intractable issues with your canine companion, I highly recommend you engage Zen Dog Training with Elissa, because you will have the opportunity—at last—to know yourself more deeply in relation to your dog, and how you can create an environment that will make life for both of you quite harmonious! A thousand thanks!

Wicked Cafe
199c Highland Avenue, Somervillemy favorite cafe in Somerville! the food is delicious, and i never have trouble finding gluten free options (very refreshing as someone with an allergy). there is a large variety of coffee flavors too! best of all is the owner, Mike, who really makes this place such a lovely spot to go to whether you're just stopping by for breakfast to go, or sitting down to read and relax ❤

Tall Order
70 Beacon St, SomervilleSuddenly wanted a drink, so...
Tall Order: The same drink as the shop's name, a very beautiful one, like a crystal-clear sprite in the dark. It has the clean and mild sweetness of a three-star Presson rum, the bright acidity of a ten-year Madeira, and the crispness of pineapple peel and lime—overall very refreshing. It also has clarified coconut milk added, but the effect is rather subtle.

Nagomi Bento Bow Market
1 Bow Mkt Way, SomervilleI’ve enjoyed their onigiri 🍙 regularly but last time it was way softer rice and barely any miso pork. I’d rather they raise the price and go back to the previous amount of pork. And I much preferred the harder, chewier rice before.
Be aware of their hours. They are not open for 2:30-4:30p every afternoon and like almost all of Bow Market closed Mondays.

Waikiki Poke, Sushi, Bubble Tea, & Smoothie
27 Holland St, SomervilleLove this place. They have great sushi and Poke bowls. The staff is so nice every time I’ve been there and I eat there a lot. Toast also lists what contains gluten so very easy to have things gluten free and they have GF soy sauce. For those with gluten allergy they are careful with CC and I’ve never had a reaction. Highly recommend!

Winter Hill Brewing Company
328 Broadway, SomervilleCame here for trivia (Thursdays at 7:30!), and it was pretty packed. Luckily we were able to snag a table and ordered some beers. The workers are all very nice and there's a real sense of community here! A very homey and welcoming spot. The latkes were also delicious- tangy, savory, and not too greasy. I also highly recommend the pretzel, which had a nice bite to it, and came with delicious sauces and amazing pickled beets!

Ola Café
112 Broadway, SomervilleThere’s a ramp to get in, but it is an odd turn and a bit steep and narrow at the entry (lined with chairs) so be careful. The latte was okay. The almond milk was good but the espresso was quite bitter. I did REALLY like the chocolate cake though. Fantastic!!!
