“I have been a devout fan of Retro Vixen on their social media pages for years. There is something for all body shapes and sizes here, which is SO impressive and a must. They also have a punch card, so for every $25 you spend you get one step closer to another punch on your card (full punch card = discount.) Thank you so much!
2023: I attended their 5th anniversary birthday party, so the shop was gussied up with balloons and cupcakes (they were delicious.) I was given a space to try on clothes. The staff helped me pick out the perfect accessories (a belt with a beautiful bow) and a stunning green cardigan.
2026: Still love this place. Jess helped me pick out an outfit for an upcoming My Chemical Romance concert I'm going to. Love that they have a thrift shop now, too!”

“First time here after being recommended to go for buying my first record player definitely will be coming back again and again. The staff is super friendly and willing to help and even give me the rundown on how they work and what to buy and how to set it up. They have an awesome collection of vinyls, tapes, and even CDs! They also have other handmade items and stickers. Will have to go back to explore some more. Cannot recommend enough!”

“I went through a lot of the Tommy Bahama shirts while there and I didn't find anything that I liked. The designs weren't as crisp as I thought they would be. For a price of $115 to $175 a shirt and those $115 shirts or polyester. High end shirts made of polyester scream cheap to me. The silk shirt designs just didn't pop enough for the $175 value. Their shorts at 115 didn't scream as a good value either. I don't know I just think Tommy Bahama has really jacked his prices up for a lower quality product.”

“WHERE TO START!!! I came in about 45 minutes before they closed with some jeans i got from an online retailer that had, get this, NO HOLE FOR THE BUTTON TO GO THROUGH!!! so i look online for a place that does tailoring and buckle popped up! I went in with ZERO expectations and them to send me on my way to another tailor but they didn't!! Ashley who was at the front was so kind and did it in an instant I was so happy that i didn't have to do a drop off service and pick them up!! it was such a great experience!!”

“I popped in to visit IMKC while out mall walking over the Christmas season. I rarely drive into the city to walk, so I didn’t know this store was there. Very nice with some fun and interesting items for sale. I am thrilled to see other Kansas City locations than usual displayed here. I bought gifts for my son and his wife as well as myself. The quality of the items is quite good, and there’s a nice selection readily available. The prices are in line with similar merchandise in the KC area. The men who assisted me were very engaging and friendly. I give IMKC two very enthusiastic thumbs up!?????”

“Last week I ordered a cute Salaam flippy skirt from Shopgirls. It turned out I needed a smaller size and called Katie to see what other colors she had and I explained that I had to watch hem length so the Velcro in my AFO brace doesn’t tear my clothes.
Instead of just exchanging my skirt Katie asked me to drop by the store before regular hours. When I arrived, she had skirt and dress options hanging all around the dressing rooms for me to try. I was like a kid in a candy store.
Katie knew that I was trying to make peace with my new foot accessory and rather than dwell on that she brought the focus to
the lovely colors of the cute swirly skirts and I was able to find several options that would work. One of the pieces was a dress that was very easy to put on, and I called Katie to see if she had more of those. This time rather than having me come into the store, she delivered the dress to my house.
Shopgirls isn’t just a storefront at 62nd and Oak filled with clothes, and purses and accessories. Shopgirls is a home to all of us who are welcomed at the door and who are buoyed by acceptance and sisterly inclusion as we touch and feel the lovely frocks, shoes and jewelry around us. Shopgirls sends us out the door with our ribbon tied bags of goodies and a renewed confidence. None of us leaves there without having felt the most prized item in the store, the sincere kindness of Katie and her Shopgirls.”
