“Garden Gourmet really is an oasis in this neck of the Kingsbridge-Riverdale woods. The quality is uniformly high, with a few exceptions, and the prices are decent. More expensive than, say, Stop & Shop across the street, but overall a vastly superior store. Produce selection is abundant, with plenty of organic options. You can tell the store has a buyer who cares about quality. Again, with exceptions. They occasionally sell Sunset brand products, like tomatoes, which are not good. They should do better quality control on tomatoes. Also, there are many bagged veggies, like spinach and salads, which can contain spoilage and are best avoided. I wish they would eliminate these, but I guess people like them because the veggies are pre-washed. But there are plenty of fresh alternatives to these. The meat and chicken section also is good quality, but can be pricey, except they have an excellent deal on Bell & Evans chickens, which are top-notch. (They also offer cheap mass-produced Perdue chickens which are tasteless, but can be avoided.) The butchered meat selection is not huge, more select, but good quality and reasonably priced. However, if you're going for processed packaged meats, like sausages and other deli cuts, they have tons of high-quality imports, along with quality sliced ham, turkey, and other cold cuts that they package themselves. Their fresh fish selection is small, but good quality and not cheap. Smoked fish, though? Huge selection. Then there's the cheese -- a superb curated spread that's massive considering the size of the store, with many great prices. One picayune exception: their house-made fresh mozzarella is bland. Luckily they have other brands. Garden Gourmet obviously prides itself on their house-made products, including bean salads, olives, slaw, potato salads, etc. -- and these are uniformly good. They also offer a TON of prepared cooked food for take-home meals, but I never buy that stuff because I cook for myself. It sure looks and smells good though. The GG has a HUGE selection of locally sourced bread off all types that blows away any supermarket. Also a nice pick of cakes and pies and other baked goods that are either house made or locally sourced. One other criticism of GG: Their coffee beans are inferior. I wish they'd get a new supplier for these. Othewise there is SO MUCH more I could say about this store -- like discuss their IMMENSE selection of products imported from mainly Eastern European countries -- but I've blabbed on enough. If the Garden Gourmet ever closed down I'd be shattered.”

“I live in the Bedford Pk area but have recently began making trips here once or twice a month. In my area, I typically have to go to 3-4 supermarkets because one has better this, the other has better that, etc. Fresh food is sparce. Also, I can never find fresh wheat bagels and they have them here regularly. Customer service was great when I emailed them to inquire about delivery days for the bagels. As foolish of a question as it may have seemed, they responded quickly and very politely. The bagels drew me in but the other very fresh, large selection of food and great customer service has made my bus trip there well worth it.”

“The place is not too crowded too often. It's a small grocery store that sells a lot of different things. But it should not be treated like it's a hang out spot, or a billiard neither.”

“I always come here to get a sandwich or even just something small, and they never fail to make some good food. The people who work there are also very kind. Always a pleasure to come here.”

“I could not be happier with the delivery service and all the staff involved with that, from the manager, Steve, who took my first phone order (when I was desperate during COVID for certain items missing from my large grocery order elsewhere), and had the items to me in 30 minutes (!) . . . to the woman who has taken my order over the phone the next three times . . . to the delivery people -- all VERY nice. Free local delivery over $50. Cold cuts are fresher than the bigger store, and fresh bakery rolls also great.”

“What an incredible find!!! We stepped into another world after visiting the Botanical Gardens. The array of specialty foods was dazzling. When we asked about some meats and cheeses to take home we were treated like royal guests. We were given tasted of prosciutto wrapped around freshly made ricotta drizzled with the best tasting balsamic vinegar ever. It was like taking a private food tour of Little Italy. The quality was superb and the cost was reasonable but the bast was the ambiance. Don't miss a visit to this store that has been in business for over one hundred years!!”

“Reasonable prices, good sandwiches and open 24/7. Mike is a cool guy. Top notch. Only reason for the 1 star deduction isn't because of the place itself, but rather the crackheads begging for change. Owners can't control that. Still, it's a decent place.”

“While being located near the yankee stadium, this is one of the most diverse supermarkets that I always enjoy going to. I love the variety of foods and how fresh they maintain the products. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh. I really like how some of the isles are separated to embrace different cultures and to make it easier to look for specific ingredients that you want. They certainly have a large selection of Vegan/ plant based options. The seafood section is extremely fresh and the employees there are extremely helpful. The spaces are clean and the items are easy to obtain while shopping. They also assist you with your parking ticket , when you spend one $100 dollars, they validate your ticket up to two hours. I love that about them. The staff and management are extremely helpful and this one of my favorite locations.”

“THIS IS My neighborhood market and I have nothing but good things to say! Could use more sales but I Heard it's a private owned establishment the lady with glasses.....I call her "JEFFA". SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST NICEST HUMAN BEINGS I HAVE EVER MET IN MY LIFE . YOU COULD BE SHORT ON YOUR PURCHASE AND SHE WOULD ACTUALLY COME OUT OF POCKET AND HELP YOU OUT. SHE HAS A HEART OF GOLD. I GO THERE EVERY DAY AND BUY MY PEPSI ! I AM TERRIBLY ADDICTED TO PEPSI COLA BUT HEY. ..”

“Best chopped cheese I've had in the Bronx. Cheap eats and beers before and after a Yankees home game. This will be my go to spot from now on. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other food items.”

“Ben's Market is new and improved! This is still a very friendly neighborhood store, but now you have wider isles and more selections. It has almost everything you need. The produce is always fresh, prices are comparable and to layout of the store is fluid. The floor is amazing and the entire store has better lighting and be warned though it is a bit colder in the entire store. Take a hoodie or a scarf, if you plan to be in there for more than a few minutes. The check out is still quick and efficient and the experience is wonderful! Make your way to Ben's Market now!”

“Great to have a local grocery store, but the prices are in my opinion a bit high. I wouldn't do my full set of grocery shopping there, but it's a good place to go to if you only need a few items.”

“I had the pleasure of being assisted by Giselle and Rosa at the counter today 9/16. They went far and behind to make sure I didn’t leave any of my groceries behind and had the best energy and presence while helping with everything. Thank for being kind, they made my day as it didn’t start out so well. They made me smile ❤️”

“Good store just make sure you double check the price as it comes across their screen when they scan your item. I just bought fufu and they had it on the aisle for 4.49 for the cocoyam and 4.79 for the plantain but charged me 5.29 for both at the register. Everytime I buy fufu from them its the same problem. They always charge me more for it. Other than that, it's clean and well organized. The prices are reasonable.”

“An additional photo is the following which also impressed me:
This photo displays the healthy bread that has made my body feel better than the other breads.
The different types of food all depends on the demogrsphics (what races of people are living around the supermarket).
For example, the more Korean people or the more people who buy Korean food products, then the more Korean food and products.
I need the same amount of Korean products that are in a New Jersey State Food Bazaar in this East 171st 3rd Avenue location. Thank you.”

“It's without a doubt too expensive to be a C-Town but it's also cleaner than any C-Town i've ever been to, good selection of ale, wish they had Brooklyn Stout. Staff not unfriendly but appear to not understand social etiquette, still another Bronx neighbourhood, get yours and c u later”
