“How incredibly stupid I've been to forget to come to this mini grocery store for a few years? Very. Their prices are competitive to excellent, their guacamole kicks ass; organic, fresh produce, free range animal products, the friendliest owner ever. I'd write more praise but I gotta go finish the guac.”

“So grateful to have this refill store in my neighborhood. The dried mango are so good, and the fresh peanut butter is my favorite peanut butter to buy anywhere.
Pro tip: bring a wide mouth jar for the Kombucha! Otherwise it can be hard to refill your container 🫙”

“I absolutely love having this supermarket in my neighborhood. The store is always clean, organized, and well stocked, and they have a great selection of products.
What really stands out to me, though, is the people. The owner is always friendly and welcoming, and the cashiers are genuinely some of the kindest I’ve encountered at any supermarket. They’re consistently friendly, patient, and empathetic, and you can tell they actually care about the people who shop there.
It’s rare to find a neighborhood supermarket where you enjoy both the products and the people. I’m always happy to shop here and really appreciate having them around the corner!”
“Come here for all your spice needs, and also somehow the best fresh produce in the neighborhood! This is my secret to finding ripe avocados and really tasty citrus. They have pretty much every spice you could imagine organized alphabetically, and also really great dried nuts and fruits/berries. Good place to find a potion or tea if you're feeling sick.”

My car died outside of their store even though they had already closed and were heading home they stayed and helped me jump start my car. “im syrian and queer & so im SO happy that there's a lebanese and queer owned grocery/cafe that's walkable to me! like what are the chances lol. the grocery selection is great and i love that they carry items and arab brands that i like to cook with (especially having molokia, dried limes, fava beans, labne, and markouk bread). they have bonjus too which is such a childhood throwback lol
the food is great too, i reccomend trying their maanouche and lahm b ajin - delicious and authentic flavored. all the mezze pre-prepared foods in the fridge is 10/10. so happy they are LGBT friendly especially during pride where they made donations to LGBT charities, they also support lebanese causes, and i feel happy to shop here to support the arab food companies where they get the groceries from. its a comfortable spot with nice outdoor seats on a quiet block to enjoy your food. indoor seating is also comfy and the decor is cute. also all the staff is very friendly :)”

“Was referred here by a friend who orders his thanksgiving turkey from Marlow & Daughters every year and swears by them. I thought I’d give it a shot and ordered a 13lbs turkey for our Friendsgiving last week and safe to say it was the juiciest most delicious turkey I’ve ever had!! Every one of our guests said the same, no one’s ever had a turkey that good. I thought 11$ a pound was a bit pricey but boy was it worth it. No wonder I’ve never really been a fan of roasted turkey, I was eating tasteless supermarket turkey. 100% recommend, I’m sure ALL their meats are locally sourced and top quality”

I like the bread. This is the torta bread I grew up eating! Lot of places just use some kindof nyc roll or even burger buns

“Best place in the area to buy produce! Lots of seasonal and exotic fruits, I get to eat fresh lychee all summer from here. Great prices on fruit and lots of sales so I can stock up and freeze extras. They also have an in-house butcher but sometimes they don’t do the best job at cutting the meats. Still, good prices on meat and I still buy it from here if I’m short on time. Good snack and instant noodle selection as well, I rarely go to supermarkets because Uncle Steve’s already has just about everything!”
“Very popular market that has a nice selection of Caribbean fruits, veggies and coconuts. The lines get longer into the afternoon. I'd definitely recommend the raw sugar cane juice and the sea moss. Parking is reasonable around Labay during weekdays and better on weekends.”

“I’ve been a member here for 10 years, with a few years off when I lived outside the city. It’s an incredible gift to have access to such high-quality food at such low prices. It’s gotten me through many broke periods. It’s also the best grocery store in the city that I’ve been to.
People complain that you must be a member and work in order to shop, but the work requirement (free labor) is how we keep prices so low. Further, the coop is already packed to literal capacity, there’s a wait to become a member and sometimes a line to get in the door. There’s no space for non members to shop or look around. (People always imagine themselves as a single non-member shopper — they don’t imagine the implications of their desired policy that would extend to the entire public.)
People also have negative stereotypes about coop members, but I haven’t experienced anything different here than elsewhere in Brooklyn. Sure, some people are annoyingly intense, but it’s the same as if you went to a community board meeting. 98% of the people are chill and just want to save money on groceries.”

Update Aug 2026: It seems that the Trader Joe's grocery locations each have a small wine selection. Most likely due to them closing their wine store in Union Square. The shelves for the small selection seem to near the checkout lines. There are also canned cocktails and non-alcoholic wines.”

“I always shop here, my parents even started shopping here faithfully. Sometimes we don’t know where an item is but the associates and cashiers always get us what we’re looking for. I’ve been shopping here for YEARS and I mostly cash out at the register with Stephanie. She always so welcoming and kind making sure I got everything I was looking for. She’s amazing!! I remember going there on her day off and was so disappointed that I missed her! Her personality was made for greeting guests and making this supermarket feel like home. 10/10 my fruits and veggies are always fresh and doesn’t spoil the next day.”
