K9 perfection is the best groomers that we have ever experienced over 4 Newfies. Seamus loves his spa days and is ecstatic when he sees Lilly come to the gate. Today, he went straight to the grooming table and tried climbing on, he was so ready. We are grateful that we have maybe 24 hours of a pleasant smelling, soft, unmatted dog.

The staff are truly exceptional people who take the best care of the pups and are kind to the humans, too! They were very kind about accommodating us when we had a last-minute travel issue and needed another night on a recent trip (and I suspect the dogs were delighted to get a bonus night). I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Green Beagle Lodge
6805 Millhouse Road, Chapel HillExcellent service from beginning to end. I had to reschedule at the last minute and they were so accommodating. I got the full groom and outline clip for my big boy. He looked and felt amazing. We managed to keep him from rolling in the dirt the first day, but 3 days later he has rolled in the grass and dirt multiple times. Amazingly, he still feels soft from the groom, although he is starting to smell more like dirt now. Also, the shedding was DRASTICALLY reduced from the defurminating treatment. This is the best clip he has ever had and a great experience. I only wish they had had room for him to spend a couple hours in daycare.
Update:
I have had two dogs seen here since this last review. Both dogs had anxiety issues, and the staff has been absolutely incredible in dealing with both of their issues. My first dog was very nervous around other dogs. Even though he never loved play dates, the staff was able to get him more comfortable with other dogs.! My dog now refuses to get his nails trimmed. He has separation anxiety and does not like for me to hand off the leash to anybody. He Don’t worry was recently adopted from the shelter, and I think he might be afraid of being abandoned. The whole staff has been very helpful in trying to help him overcome his anxiety. He now loves going to see Marshall for his grooming. He’s still not at the point where he can get his nails trimmed, but the staff have been so helpful, So I have no doubt he will be able to get his nails trimmed at some point. I’m just glad he likes to come and see his buddy. Marshall has gone above and beyond in trying to help my dog overcome his fears. The whole staff has worked together and I cannot say enough, good things. I will always bring my dogs here for training, grooming, and so my dog can have a good time. I just wish you would expand closer to Mebane. If you do, I’ll be there, but it is worth the drive. Thank you again to all the staff

He's so knowledgeable and will continue to search for an answer to your questions if he doesn't have one at the time of your visit. He asks about all of our animals no matter whose appointment we're at and is always eager to know how they are doing. We moved a little further away and still continue to make the drive to Chapel Hill because we couldn't imagine trusting another vet with our babies! The front desk staff and all of the techs are absolutely amazing as well (esp Megan! she's so so friendly and remembers us every time we come in). Thank you Legion Road!

719 New Hope Church Road, Chapel HillI was really impressed with Gene’s work with my dog, Poppy, and his training of me as an owner so that I can continue to work with my dog and build on her skills for years to come.
I was a little nervous to leave my new dog for so long, but Gene put me at ease and sent me updates on Poppy when I asked showing how well she was doing. He gave me a tour of the facility so that I knew Poppy would be comfortable and well taken care of during her stay.
Once I got Poppy back, I especially appreciated how his training method fit in with my life without requiring me to spend extensive amounts of time to reinforce skills. Poppy practices her stay when I am brushing my teeth or studying. She is a joy to take in public and barely barks at anything now! For a 7 month old puppy, she listens like a champ and came back having learned not to jump on people or chew things she shouldn’t, which was pretty miraculous. She is more confident and less nervous about new people, and she is getting better every day at her leash skills. Gene really knows how a dog’s mind works from his years of experience and does a great job passing on the important parts to clients so that they can be successful at handling their dogs too. Don’t expect your dog to come home perfect without any work on your part, but Gene gives you the tools and your dog the foundation to build a successful training relationship where both dog and human are happier. I really recommend New Hope Training Center!

2712 NC-57, HillsboroughVal has been fantastic in helping me with my reactive, 1.5 year old, half pitbull half german shepherd puppy!! Val is very quick to respond and is incredibly patient. I am a new dog owner, so there was MUCH I had to learn about dog body language, behaviors, genetics, etc. and Val has provided me with extensive knowledge and her own personal experiences to help guide me into being the best dog owner for my pup! I’ve worked with her for almost a year now and the improvement in my dog’s behavior is extraordinary. It is like she is a new dog in the best way! Of course my pup is still very goofy and full of energy, but Val has helped me with teaching her how to regulate her emotions so she can deal with stressful or triggering situations. Both my and my dog’s quality of life has vastly improved since working with Val. There was a moment when I first got my dog where I was unsure if I could do it - could I handle this reactive dog that was so anxious at every unknown sound at home or outside on walks? But Val worked with me and provided me with all the tools and advice I needed to navigate my dog’s anxiety and ultimately improve our lives and relationship! I genuinely do not think I could have done this without Val, and I owe her infinite gratitude for never giving up on me and Filly (my pup).

We were looking for non-aversive trainers, and they were the only ones I saw who stated on their home page that they would not be using e-collars or slip leads. Their puppy primer class is a brilliant blend of instruction and application. The trainers come around at the end of class and give feedback and support to each family. They meet you where you are and are able to help no matter your situation. We are already booked for the next level of class and are very much looking forward to working with them again.

1215-A, E Franklin St, Chapel HillOne of my favorite coffee shops in the Durham / Chapel Hill Area, and a space I think is really quite unique to this are (have never seen something similar elsewhere). The coffee shop itself is a tiny building in the middle of a beautiful wooded area, with lots of seating scattered throughout the trees & other garden area (limited seating inside, so come when the weather is good). There are also stairs down the back to another patio to sit on a little way down the hill, and then little paths along the hill which eventually connect up with a walking path at the bottom. It's a lovely place to come for a date or meet up with a friend--you can sit and drink your coffee for a bit, and then explore a bit. I've always come here to sit & sketch before, or just watch everyone's dogs. The coffee itself is well-crafted and delicious. I have come here many times, and my favorite drink is the ginger beer cold brew (so yummy). Their americano is also excellent, however. I have also enjoyed the Brown Sugar latte & Harvest Spice Latte when I am looking for something a bit sweeter. They've also got a yummy vegan (and gluten free) pumpkin bar which is big enough to share. On weekends, during midmorning and early afternoon, it can get quite busy, often with a line out the door (you may need to wait for 15-20 minutes, and sometimes it can be hard to find a place to park). However, if you do find a spot to park & are willing to wait, I have never had any trouble finding a place to sit (there's just SO many tables!).

Frequented primarily by UNC students based on its proximity to the school, this place has a fun vibe and also tons of spots to sit and work. They offer matcha (with boba and jellies to add) and shaved ice. I didn't know about the shaved ice but someone ordered while I was there and I am intrigued. It looked delicious so I may have to come back to try. I got a large strawberry matcha with boba. It was $8.33 after tax, which I feel like is reasonable for the size and quality of the drink. This is definitely one of the better matcha spots I have enjoyed. I sat outside since the weather was nice and sipped on my drink. Not a spot I'll likely visit often based on proximity but definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
