Pet Care

UrgentVet
8204 Tryon Woods Dr #114, CaryI can’t explain in words how great the staff were the night we had to take our sick dog in to get examined. We were taken into the exam room immediately upon arrival and x-rays were done within minutes. The results weren’t what we were hoping for and the vet explained our options in detail and answered all our questions thoroughly. During the visit, the staff treated our dog as if she was their own and showed amazing kindness and compassion towards her and towards ourselves. I highly recommend them!

VCA Parkway Animal Hospital
1610 Old Apex Rd, CaryVCA Parkway is wonderful! I'm so happy that we have found this vet office for our two cats. Dr. Smith and Dr. LeBlanc are both wonderful to work with and the staff is always understanding and helpful. We've run into some difficult health issues with both our cats (dental in one, resulting in tooth extractions, and sudden early onset heart disease in the other, plus weight loss for both), but our vet team has made the learning curves and processes go smoothly.
Most recently, Dr. Smith has demonstrated both compassion and professionalism in helping us navigate the difficult new heart problems found in one of our cats. She is also wonderful with both of our girls in office, and has earned my trust and respect in their ongoing care.
Thank you VCA Parkway staff for always being there for my girls (and their humans)!

PetSound Animal Hospital
305 Ashville Ave, Caryshoutout to everyone at Petsound ?? finding the perfect vet for my dog has been troubling, and after my first visit at petsound today, I can thankfully say I found the one!! My previous (2-3?) vets not only charged an arm and a leg for basic examinations, but they also weren’t the best when it came to caring for my dog. I have a boxer mix who is pretty defensive, and my old vet would literally look at my dog like he was a dinosaur. she wouldn’t get close to him and wouldn’t even talk to him, and I felt like my dog could some how sense the fear. I understand that caution should be taken when approaching any dog, but the way they handled my dog was wild? On top of that, they wanted to charge me over $400 just to treat his ear infection. They said he would require sedation because he showed aggressiveness (mmm wonder why)
Everyone at petsound was amazing and i can’t recommend this place enough. All it took for them to see my dog was a quick phone call with the suuuuuper kind woman who works at the front. They don’t overcharge you, they show care for your animals, and they do everything necessary to resolve any problems. once again, shoutout to the kind ppl at petsound??

980 Northwoods Dr, CaryI have been taking my dogs to Northwoods for about 25 years. We have seen various vets throughout the years, most recently Dr. Hudson and Dr. Chappel. They are always kind and compassionate and it always feels like they take their time and make sure you know everything you need to about your pet. The vet techs always take their time to put my nervous dog at ease. The staff at the front is always friendly and helpful. I would recommend Northwoods to anyone who loves their pets.

Pet Sitting & Training

Proactive Dog Training, LLC
513 E Chatham St, CaryJavier and the whole training staff at Proactive are the best dog trainers in Raleigh. This is the place you have been searching for.
I procrastinated writing this, and I’m glad I did. This review is 5 months after the board and train and the results have stuck. Proactive teaches you and your dog. The play-based approach has unlocked a new level of compliance and genuinely enhanced our relationship with our dog.
Our dog was not an easy training case. We have a Shiba with aggression issues. Feeding was a nightmare, touch was a bite risk, and commands were met with full SpongeBob “I don’t feeeeel like it” energy.
All this time later we have made a huge leap forward. Feeding is smooth and easy. Commands are listened to on the first ask. My little buddy comes over looking for pets. We could not be happier with our choice to work with Proactive.

All Dogs Allowed
110B Woodwinds Industrial Ct, CaryI can't recommend Nora at All Dogs Allowed enough. My dog was severely leash reactive — barking and lunging any time we passed another person. It got to the point where I was walking him at 5:30am just to avoid encountering anyone, and if I had to go out later, I'd spot someone coming and turn around, sometimes doing this multiple times in one walk. A simple 15-minute loop could turn into a stressful 45-minute maze of avoidance.
After just a short session with Nora, everything changed. She taught me techniques that completely transformed how my dog responds on walks. We are only on day 5 and the transformation is already more than I expected. He went from aggressive barking and lunging to staying calm and focused on me when we pass people. We finally have our peaceful walks back, and I feel so much more confident taking him out, even when the neighborhood is busy.
What stood out most is that Nora's approach is all positive reinforcement, never fear-based. She's incredibly patient and clearly knows what she's doing. If your dog struggles with reactivity, I can't recommend her highly enough.

I was amazed and delighted to hike off leash with Flash this morning. He knew exactly what to do! He was calm, confident and so happy hiking off leash. It was a joyful morning for both of us!

Cozy Cats Hotel
507 James Jackson Ave, CaryCare Team at Cozy Cats is amazing!! Had never boarded my cat before so I was a bit nervous (as was she). The team went out of their way to make her feel comfortable, even providing a cozy hide-a-bed to help her acclimate. They were flexible and willing to add play time on an as needed basis as she got comfortable. I appreciated not only their care but their honesty about what aspects our baby might like vs what she wouldn't. Definitely using them again!

After meeting Julia, she is truly one in a million and a special pet loving human. Her love for my dog and the care she gave him is priceless. I can honestly say I will never use another service again and will recommend Faithful Friends to everyone I know. Thank you again for making magic happen!

Mosa Pet Spa & Resort
931 Manchester Dr, CaryI absolutely LOVE Well Groomed Pets!!
My pup, Zara, has only been twice (once for her first puppy bath and again for her first official cut) and let me tell you…..Mon is absolutely amazing! Words could never describe how special she is. She is always so caring and gentle with Zara; allowing Zara to fully warm up before she does anything with her; even if it takes hours. And I can truly appreciate the fact that she doesn’t rush the services with the pups. She works on their time and their comfort level. Who could ask for better care? Especially from a groomer. They send pictures and updates during the session and everything!
Then, omg! Zara came out of that appointment like a brand new pup! She was sooooo adorable!! “A great groomer” doesn’t even describe Mon accurately enough. We love it here!

Pet Palace - Cary
917 Waldo Rood Blvd, CaryJake, the dog trainer, at Pet Palace is a GEM. He worked with my Malinois/Shepherd/Dachshund mix for a week. I was amazed at the difference in Willow. She has become much calmer around other dogs and is more attentive to commands. Willow is still a work in progress, and thanks to Jake's spot on advice, we are now headed in the right direction. I also wanted to point out that Jake gives very detailed, daily progress notes.

Taps and Social Beer and Wine Shop
9954 Chapel Hill Rd, CaryIf you’re looking for your next favorite espresso martini, stop what you’re doing and head to Taps & Social. Their brand new Espresso Martini absolutely knocked it out of the park. Perfectly balanced with bold espresso flavor, just the right touch of sweetness, and that rich, velvety foam every great espresso martini should have. It’s dangerously smooth and easily one of the best I’ve had.
The atmosphere here is always welcoming, the bartenders genuinely care about what they’re serving, and it’s clear they put thought into every new addition to the menu. This cocktail alone is worth the visit, but it’s just another reason Taps & Social continues to be my favorite neighborhood bar. Cheers to another winner!

Cat Angels Pet Adoptions
959 N Harrison Ave, Cary(update below). Cat Angels Adoption Center brought us pure cat companion joy ?! Elizabeth and her volunteers are all very dear ladies, the best at seeing all the many kitties are well cared for and found the perfect home. They know cats so well, us old cat owners of 40+ years even learned a few good tricks ?.
The process was a cinch, making sure you are able to have one or more feline companions and that you find the best match?.
[UPDATE] We visited the new adoption center 10/25, OMG is it glourious, so huge, full featured with everything and more the cats need?. But a shock was how friendly all the cats were, in 60 years never seen that at retail stores, these cats are being lovingly pampered (volunteer vet too ), which also makes it easier to see what cat you might connect with best ?. We stayed for an hour (more?) and got loving and laughs from all the cat roomies in huge glass condos constructed for them? . [end update]
Through Elizabeth we found ours being fostered (spoiled too) by Sandy ?, a wonderful cat mom who traveled to SC to get the preggy mom kitty that her son found as a stray (and 2 party boys), and helped birth our 2 little kittens (total 4 in the photo).
Ours are spoiled every waking moment, heated beds when sleeping. We have been given so much joy in our lives and we cannot thank Elizabeth and Sandy enough.
We do thank you lots, as do Izzy and Nemo?? .
They speak for the animals, and you should listen.
