“I went to North Carolina Glass Center on my last day in Asheville and the timing worked out for me to take a glass fusing class! It was so fun to learn just a little bit about working with glass and I can’t wait to see my picture frame when it’s done in the kiln.”
“The people were so nice. That artwork was so enjoyable. And they have a wonderful attitude about getting everyone involved, enjoying art, including small children. Wine was delicious too best art gallery I’ve ever been to.”
“This store is honestly so incredible. And the employee, Julie, made our entire weekend whilst visiting Asheville. She is a gem. And this store… chef’s kiss! 10/10.”
“Our large painting (~43” x 30” framed) had fallen off the wall. The gold leafed frame was damaged and the glass had broken. We took it to Blackbird Frame & Art for repair.
The shop was spacious, with large work surfaces. We were attended to promptly, and the professional framer analyzed the damage. She politely explained their process for repair, the cost, and gave a two week time frame.
Our heirloom painting was repaired beautifully, conserving the original linen mat and gold leafed frame. We were satisfied with the whole experience.”
“This may be my favorite place in Asheville. The artists were so talented and I spent way more money than I want to admit. I wish I lived nearby to shop here all the time.”
“An amazing selection of local art on display that you could buy, from paintings of Asheville and Nature, to abstract and modern paintings, sculptures and vases to various other crafts, there is something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable ($20-$3000, with most around $50) and we ended up buying 4 art works.
They have two floors and have a great cafe inside as well. Strongly recommend visiting.”
“We, two sisters on an Asheville adventure, took a mosaic jewelry class at Elemental Art Studios, which is an individual gallery within Foundation Studios. Linda was a very good instructor. The class was small which allowed for one-on-one instruction when needed. Linda gave us the confidence to make our own tiny piece of art. We recommend this class to anyone, whether you are a novice or an experienced artist.”
“Trish was absolutely incredible during our private lesson! We had a blast, we learned a ton, and we walked away with 6 handmade pieces we can use for years to come. EXCELLENT couples' activity.”
“Such an amazing and inspiring experience. You cannot visit this open art studio and not leave without some piece of art in your hand. You also cannot visit here and not leave without the urge to create, inspire and find your own purpose within the art community. Loved walking through here!”

“Not only is Rachel Smith an extraordinary potter, she,is an extraordinary human. I am always fascinated by her use of color and technique used to create beautiful unique pieces. Rachel and her group are always ready to step up to support the community in any way they can. If you are looking for one of a kind pieces this is your place. It does not disappoint.”
“We loved our stop at Mangum! The owners / artists were very sociable and told us a little about their life in Weaverville and their pottery, which we really enjoyed. There are plenty of beautiful pieces to browse and the atmosphere is nice and peaceful. We purchased a couple of bowls and a more-than-a-pint (can't remember the size) mug that are all ready for everyday use - something that's very important to us. Weaverville is lucky to have the Mangums!”
“Find this place if you love art. It is nestled in the River Arts District. i came last Christmas and went to
the gallery and was amazed. by the collective arts of several artists in here.
i purchased a two day workshop in encaustic painting for myself and a friend with Bridget Benton.
it was amazing!
The workshop came with all the tools and supplies needed and each workspace was completely set up. Bridget is an experienced artist and instructor. Her handouts were well organized and the materials were top quality.
I enjoyed the small classroom size of 5 students which provided for 1:1 instruction and we could see other students work. Everyone was happy with their work.”
“Artisans on Main is my "go to" local spot for wonderful and unique gifts for myself and others. They have everything from lamps, to woodworking, to jewelry. I love that they only carry work from local artists. I know when I get a gift from here, that it's going to be very special. ”
“Only there to check out the river, murals, graffiti, and artwork. It was very peaceful, and the people I encountered were friendly. Would love to go back during the weekend when it's busier to eat and gang out”
“Such a great collection of skillfully made woodcraft. This lovely gallery is full of bowls, cutting boards, boxes , jewelry and other woodworks. They will make you pieces if you want to commission something you have always wanted in beautiful wood. Tables, benches, stools or sculpture— they have it.”
“Chris Van Dyke repaired 2 rings for me and I'm very pleased with his work! He explained all the options and helped me choose the right thing for me and for my rings. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend him!”
“This is such a fun shop to wander through! They have a very large selection of craft items by many different artists. We went in October and they had some fun Halloween themed items including lovely mobiles made from wood that had origami bats hanging off of them- bat mobiles- get it? That made me smile. They were also starting to bring out their Christmas crafts- it would be a great place to shop for Christmas decorations!”
“A great place to see a variety of artists at work with their pieces for sale. Potters, painters, jewelers, clothiers, glass blowers - all in one block. Much talent here catering to a variety of tastes.”
“Marvelous gallery in a wonderful historic building. Daniel is very talented. We enjoyed learning about his process and talking to him about his pieces. Highly recommend stopping by.”
“Beautiful glass work! The owner was not blowing glass today, but he was so kind to explain the glass blowing process to our kids. He even took a family picture of us! Highly recommend!”
“Totally free. They’ve got a great collection of old cars to look at, a shop/gallery of art, a visitors center, and a restaurant (which we didn’t try). Not the most exciting thing I’ve ever done but it was a nice way to kill an hour for free in a pretty neighborhood.”
“I'm madly in love with this place! I already have two of their knomes. The Resident artist or owner actually made one to order for me. I'm coming back for one for my third house. I'm convinced they provide calm karma to their space. Karen Knight”
“Wonderful folks working here and interesting work. I left feeling inspired and creatively invigorated for the new year. Will definitely be back in to enjoy the book collection.”
“It has been a while since I've gotten any work done by Greg, but I'm honored to be able to see his artwork every day on my body!Greg is an absolutely amazing artist. His work blows other artists right out of the water. He is a great conversationalist and an all around awesome person.I'm thinking of going back up for a new piece pretty soon! Can't wait!”
“While I did not have as much time as I would have preferred to spend in shop, I had a very pleasant experience speaking to the young woman who attended to me while I was exploring jewelry here. Overall, I found this gallery shop to have a beautiful assortment of items from local artists--especially jewelry, textiles, and woodworking. I'm sure I will enjoy my moonstone earrings for many years to come. I was hoping to find a pair just like it.”
“Angelique and Shirley are fabulous artists. I had purchaced pottery from Angelique several years ago and thought of her when I needed a new piece. She did not disappoint. Shirley is a painter and had a print that I fell in love with. She offered to have it enlarged and shipped”

“Susan is so patient, creative and thoughtful in her design process. You must stop in and see the beauty she creates with rings, earrings and necklaces - you will not be disappointed!”
“If you're in Asheville and looking for a great place to enjoy craftsmanship and support local businesses who are artists...this is the place.
The showroom is so impressive. Anything you think you want to own made of glass that sparks your inner artistic style...they sell it here. They make new items all day long, so you get to experience the artistic process.
Enjoy the people. The people here are amazing. You meet people from all walks of life. If you want to commission a custom job, they will accommodate the conversation. Please don't be shocked by the prices. This isn't Amazon...this is a place that does quality work, and they're fighting to stay afloat after the hurricane (they were closed for a month).
Everyone working there is amazing. I met one amazing woman (sorry...I can't remember her name) from Argentina who made my wife and I feel super welcome. I can't wait to come back to see what else new they have.”
